struck me as mechanistic and robotic... same as they play... i think the players have overdosed on 'system', 'structure' and sermonising.

Basically - I don't give a sh!t if you trained and played all your life in the VFL. We need an inside mid at AFL level, and you are our best chance. Get in there and make it happen.

I love an inspirational quote... I have got a 500 page book full of them. However, there is only one quote that I have ever actually hand-written and pinned to my wall so I can see it each day:

Jim Stynes:

"If you can let go of that fear in life... then you can do anything. It allows you to really let go and chase the things that you really want to do in your life, and live out the life that you were born to live"

I heard him say that on his DVD, and wrote it down over a year ago. It is still on my wall to this day, and it will stay on my wall. Best quote I've ever heard, and one that actually has had a lasting effect on me.

This is a quote from Teddy Roosevelt and a favourite of mine. I often think of this when certain journalists decide to give a particular young player of ours a constant trial by media!

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly.
