The new FOJ Sponsor.

Must be done this week!!

Mate as much as it grieves me to say this there is no FOJ sponsor in the wings, out the back, down the road.

There is no bloody FOJ or BOJ.

The MFc is close to the end.

It may be 5 years off but this is the year the rot finally set in.

No half decent players, seriously lack of finances.

Moral Zero.

Does this sound like Fitzroy

That is pretty defeatist. I am not suggesting all is great but it is not that bad. We don't have major sponsors atm but they will come. We have a $10m asset unlike ever before.

Today we played a very good team, at their home ground, in the heat with only 2 missing from their best side. We had several good players out. We had a real crack in the first half and copped a 21 - 1 free kick count against us, which is an AFL record. They got at least 5 goals from the umpires in that first half to our none. We were ahead in the contested possessions. Clearly then we fell away in the second half.

We are weak in disposal and running power and in the midfield. These things will be addressed and improvement will come. We could have 3-4 new mids next year. Joel Mc, Green and a few others will be gone. Tom Mc looked good. Magner continues to impress.

Amongst the [censored] there are a few positives.

I am feeling as down as you but I won't give up, not after investing 55 years in this bloody club.

Can you suggest a method that will get me through the next 5 years?

You make some points which could be considered valid but the fact is I am sick and tired of excuses or reasons or however you want to frame it. If I see one MFC player giving an interview this week spouting platitudes I will SPEW UP. Media blanket on the club until we get a sponsor and win a game. Other than that I don't want to hear a damn thing coming out of the club.

Exactly. Not one word to a camera. Sort it out behind closed doors. Until it hurts and BLEEDS.

Like you Redleg, I saw some positives in the tripe shown today. Many here don't realize how energy sapping constant free kicks to the opposition are. And the amount of diving, head ducking and shoulder dropping (a Selwood family trait) that was rewarded was unbelievable - are WC trained to do it?

Tommy Mac showed that he will be a player, the captains gave their all and Clark (who, if the maggots were consistent, would have received 5 frees) kicked 5 without taking a mark.

The pharmacist pointed out that the WC midfield group were considered no good 3 years ago, but stuck to their structures and roles - and look at them now.

I'll wait until the end of the season before I contemplate the slashing of wrists and the burning of personnel that regularly occurs on this site.

And the comparisons with Fitzroy are laughable.

The one thing that my 58 years of watching the various forms of dross served up by this club has provided is an appreciation of the 4 winning grand finals I've attended. The present coach has given me genuine hope that I'll see another one before I move on.

I cannot imagine a more positive spin on what was, in essence, utter tripe.

It is, of course, welcome to note that the world is not ending, that the MFC is not about to disappear, and that there is still every chance Neeld and this list will get to a premiership. But in reality, that is a long, long way off, and there is a lot of work to do, much more than just 'wait, with time we'll get there'.

Sounds trite, but look at clubs like WC that finished bottom and made finals the very next year.It can be done.

We have a poor slow midfield but that could be changed in one draft. Viney plus 2 other or 3 other good mids can change our side. Jones playing with quick skillful mids is a different team. Fitzpatrick, Watts and Cook need to develop and LJ needs to get back in the side. Tom Mc showed plenty. Confidence dies when you are chasing and umpired out of a game in the first half. But for the umpiring we were not bad in the first half. WC are a good team and more so at a hot Patterson stadium. Having 3 umpires give you soft goals is soul destroying to the away opposition. If we were Carlton or Pies we would be bleating about the 22-1 free kick count early in the 3rd quarter.

Hang in it will turn around, but it might take a while.

OD, I'm thinking of taking out a lease on a cryogenic storage unit. Suggest you might want to give that some consideration as well.

We have a passionate board members and coaches, the club will never give up, it didn't give up in the 07/08 situation or hawks merger threat.

What will kill the club are fickle supporters.

Here is some advice:

1) don't read any churnalism articles about the dees (especially involving sheedy, Mathews or Thomas)

2) keep calm and carry on

... 3) also see your doctor if you have high blood pressure :)

The Lions had quite a number of half-decent players, some much better than that. Their 1996 List had a Top 6 which was very good and half of them walked into spots with other clubs.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
