"Gaff, 19, is considered a vital cog in West Coast’s premiership plans alongside looming superstar ruckman Nic Naitanui (picked Watts instead), dashing on-ballers Luke Shuey (picked Blease instead) and Scott Selwood (picked Maric instead) and potential star forward Jack Darling (picked Cook instead) under senior coach John Worsfold."

This hurts. But for Gaff, we could've had all of these players AND Dustin Martin and Jack Trengove. I have to say though, I am happy with Jack Watts - he'll be okay IMO. I just can't believe the state of our midfield, given what it clearly could/should now be.

Hate to labour the point, but this just sucks ...

The state of our midfield can be summed up by the knowledge that Watts was played there and was one of our better performers. Where the hell are the raft of onballers who should be getting in there ahead of him?

We let other clubs pick them.

The Eagles have a really good chance to challenge for a flag in the next few years.

Gaff was never looking at going back to Victoria.

All eyes now on Caddy...

Just another forward, but Kurt Tippet's contract is up at the end of this year.

I don't think we'd want or need Tippet.

We need gun hard-at-it mids like Caddy.

Him and Viney in the same midfield is the stuff dreams are made of.

Mate, other than family and work issues I labour the point of our midfield, every other waking moment. You just reinforce it...

I've been on the case for what feels like eternity.

Here's a glimpse of something I wrote sometime ago:

Dear Santa,

Can we please have a Rolls Royce midfield that is the envy of every opposition AFL team ?

.....

Get the gist ?

i think we could have had Shuey, Gaff, Selwood and any one else and they wouldnt be the players that they are at West Coast.

Sad but true. They've learnt of Premiership players who know what it takes.

Ya worn out geriatric fart, you forgot me ******* rolls royce midfield.

If I wanted a pair of bloody thongs, I'd have bloody asked.

And this cowboy suit and ping pong set you can shove right up your ****!

You've stuffed me bloody order up

It's enough to make you spew"

apologies to KBW

He got sick of reading all the crap around here & decided to stay in the west in a positive culture - now why does that not surprise me.

best of luck son - hopefully your heart will beat red & blue again one day - but I fully understand if it doesn't.

I thought the same thing.

If we were into him, all he needed to do was see the circus around us at the moment.

Any doubts about staying in Perth would have disappeared.

But remember - it won't always be this way.

Gaff might've been a nice one to get, but there'll be others.

He might have taken the odd gaunt down to one of his old stamping grounds the MCG - might even of been last Saturday - the "booing" & verbal taunts directed at Melbourne players by their own "supporters" would have sealed the deal for the WC for sure.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
