Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Every one that is defending Davey saying he was not as bad as so and so, remember you are comparing him to kids who have just started playing.

Davey has played for many seasons,is a senior player,is on good money and two seasons ago was tauted as being captain.

Do not compare him to the young guys with less than a full season under their belt

Now I know you did not watch the game.

Thats strange. I was there today or so I thaught. Wonder if somebody put something in my morning cup of tea which made me think I was at the game.

Make as many excuses as you like but he was dreadful all of the game.

Davey has lost his pace and hunger to win. Green is to slow and should have given it away last year. Rivers did nothing today. Moloney looks like a baby who has spat the dummy and will not last long if he keeps on playing like this. Jamer played the worst game ever. Jones was really bad. Macdonald was sent to melbourne from brisbane. Our older players are weak and have set this club back 10 years. Time to clean out the club of all the older players who have no leadership and are as weak as water.

I know it's only round one, but judging on today and last year, he's done. Funny how it was all Downhill from getting that massive contract.

That's the disappointing thing for me. We lock him in on a great 4-year deal - i'm pretty sure there was a lot of press about delayed negotiations/approaches from other clubs etc at the time, and since then he's really struggled

Perhaps I'm being harsh, but I thought Tynan was pretty soft on a couple of occasions. Shirked the contest.

Threw himself in there on numerous occasions. Didn't notice him shirk any contests.

As for Davey, I decided to give him another chance this year after last year, but that was it today. Brad Green had a go in the last quarter, but it was too little too late for me. Combining last season with today's insipid performance I have had enough of the both of them.

Even my grandfather rang me up to talk about how bad Davey was. We hardly ever talk about football, and when we do, it's me starting the conversation. But here he is, a week after a hip operation, ringing me up to have a whinge about Aaron Davey. Pathetic game from a player I wouldn't select in a million years.

He held the club to ransom for a massive five year deal. Most of you cretins were in total support of him for this. Lo and behold, with that contract in place, he has given such a tiny amount of effort since then it is a disgrace to the jumper

On a shocker of a day when everyone was down Davey was not the worst.

If you watch the clearances it was the BL outside midfielders who did the damage, so before we get rid of one of our few outside quick's take a breath.

11 possessions - 8 contested & 2 clearances when the highest clearance number anyone got was 5, 2 run downs and 1 goal was serviceable and not the worst.

In a team that has so much sameness about it, his skill and speed around the pack (note not in it) is very much required. Beside what like player do we have to replace him?

The best bit of today was Grimes and Neeld's press conference - the first bit of emotional grunt we saw all day. I believe Neeld will create the pressure needed to create diamonds, hopefully it won't take to long.

I thought he was pretty good. Didn't panic under pressure and went hard. Maybe it's just me trying to find some silver lining.

Also, he looks 5 years old and weighs about 8kgs wet.

Thought he panicked big time, a couple of times.

You can put Blease in that category - shirked a hard ball twice.

Yeah. Certainly did.

Tynan and Blease aren't big enough to be playing AFL footy at the moment. Today showed that.

I can't think of anyone on our list that would have a bigger contract than davey (except maybe Mitch Clark?) This absolutely appals me to death. Has been absolutely insipid for at least 12 months now and as a 'leader' and 'senior player' it is just not acceptable! I want neeld to prove to us that he is true to his word and will not tolerate this sort of crap. For mine Davey doesn't play until he strings together at least 3-5 games!

Yep. You are right .

Request a refund .The guys dropped from the LG can pay it back to you .

If it's good enough for Tynan, Magner and McKenzie to throw themselves head first at a contest, it's good enough for Davey. If it's not, he needs to go away and fast.

There was one contest in the last quarter where he absolutely squibbed it, tried to tap the ball to the side rather than straight lining the contest and i was surprised he was immediately dragged

It is interesting to remember that Davey was a rookie pick. Why so many overlooked him.

His form in 2004-5 was exceptional, but since then has slowly continued to dip.

Remember those chase tackles from behind?

I just don't think he can play at the elite level anymore.

It will be pivotal to see what Neeld thinks in the next 2-3 weeks.

While I agree he is not at AFL level anymore, he played very well in 2009 and won the B&F. He has definitely dropped off from that level. Your habit of revising history to suit an opinion just shows you up.

Davey is a luxury we cant carry atm.

And from what he once was that is so very sad, but the reality is I am not sure how much longer he will stay in the Melbourne jumper......

how long til daveys (huge?) contract is up?

I believe he has 2 years to run including 2012

I heard a rumour he is on a front loaded contract that produces $600000 per annum. Any body Know?

If he doesn't find a way to re-invent himself under Neeld then he won't play much senior footy. There is no place for a reciever, loose ball only specialist in the current game.

He can be good in the clinches using his one touch play and pace to get clear, but he doesn't venture in too much anymore.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
