Not a lot of enthusiasm there or are we all being realistic?

I'm realistically enthusiastic. Going to have a great year - just not all the time in every game, certainly for the first half.

There was a great post I saw by a Port supporter re Friday's game, who said that for 10 minutes or so of the last quarter, we played like we could beat any team in the league. We just (!) need those 10 minutes to become a 100. Doubt it will be this season though.

8th in a tight battle between us, North, Tigs, and Dons. Barring results you can guarentee that I'll be there Round 1 and many more ready to see our club become WINNERS!!!

Apathy central over here, and very little hope.

If we finish 10th I'll be surprised. If we finish 14th, I won't.

If Richmond finish above us, I will officially resign.

Edit: which delusional nutbag voted 1st?! Get help. Immediately.

Didn't he sign a 2-3 year deal last year??

Anyone?

Yes he did JRT but that does not mean you cannot end up at another club.

I might add I don't think he will but in my eyes he is another Trapper.

Promises, promises

Sylvia is a massive loss to us - as is Scully obviously, but he didnt play much footy last year anyway.

I think its a big change in the game plan, which will take us a while to adapt to.

Jurrahs a big loss, he kicked 40 last year and I can only hope Clark fills that void.

I'd say we'll finish 10-11, theres a lot sides on the up this year and we will be far better next year I believe.

Well now we have activated both compo's we will most likely try all sorts of tactics, gameplans & player positions all year, that way Neeld can take what he wants out of it, create his own gameplan for 2013 and have a cleanout of players to suit his style and draft accordingly.

From what I have seen Neeld is going right back to basics and educating the players from scratch again so I dont expect much this year. I dont think the emphasis will be on making the 8, but getting the right systems in place for an assault in 2013. Neeld will have in mind the lower we finish the better picks we will have, and no Im not saying we will tank, it just takes the pressure off him to do whatever he likes.

Personally I think a winning culture in infectous and invaluable but I'm not Mark Neeld and it will be interesting to see how we go about things this year. Most likely finishing well down the ladder but setting the right foundations in place.

Eighth. With an '87-esque storm to the finals, beating Freo in Perth to knock them out and make it. Form on our side, we go all the way to the prelims, and get knocked off by Hawthorn again in the dying seconds due to a Buddy freak goal.

And if this happens (again), I might just cry.

I just want us to fight this year and earn some respect. I just read an article on afl.com.au about what the club captains think will happen this year.

"Which seven other clubs do you think can make this year's top eight? (In 2011, the captains correctly nominated Geelong, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Carlton, the Sydney Swans and St Kilda to play finals, but missed West Coast and Essendon)

Collingwood (17), Carlton (17), Geelong (17), West Coast (17), Hawthorn (16), Fremantle (12), Sydney Swans (nine), Adelaide (eight), St Kilda (six), Western Bulldogs (two), Essendon (two), North Melbourne (two), Richmond (one), Brisbane Lions (nil), Gold Coast (nil), GWS (nil), Port Adelaide (nil), Melbourne (nil)."

Not a single captain rates us to make the 8. We are dead last there. We're rated even below RIchmond in the eyes of our opposition. That really drives home how little respect we hold and how poor we've become onfield. It's time to start fighting and earning back some respect. I don't care where we finish this year, but I care about the way we play. Big losses aren't acceptable. We've been rebuilding for 5-6 years now. It's time for results. Fight Dees for gods sake!!

Wow what a kick in the guts! Oh well means nothing in the scheme of things. You have to earn respect and we are a long way off that so no suprises here.

Why do people care about pre season predictions???

The proof is always in the pudding

We will finish where we do but there is a whole season to be had beforehand

We win the first few games and people on here will be talking finals, Lose and they will be bemoaning players, coachs, recruiting Blah Blah Blah

I for one am hopeing for a good season full of ups and downs and supporting our team Rain or shine.

I find it interesting to take a stab at what you think will happen and then re-visit your prediction at seasons end.

Sorry.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
