Liam is getting on the first plane home if he has not been charged this is not what we need as a club after all the work we have done. The club will always be bigger than one person so if liam does not come back after this then sorry liam you have to make up your mind because we cant afford a year like the saints after 2011. I really hope liam gets home even if the whole family comes with him.

A bit of distraction is in order.

The Age online describes Liam as "Melbourne forward". The Herald Sun describes him as "Melbourne star forward". Is the Herald Sun overstating Liam's position in the game or is The Age playing him down? In short, is Liam a "star"?

My view? He's exciting, he's green and he's not yet the full package. So I don't think he's a "star". But I also think he has genuine potential to become one. Let's hope he gets the chance to get there.

'expected to face police charges', i don't like the sound of that

If it was really serious, there's no way he'd be allowed back to Melbourne.

Do you people know anything at all about the indigenous problems in the centre and the tribal law that exists ? Get hold of a book called 'Dog Ear Cafe', read it and you then may have a clue.

Just a reminder that when Liam is up there, he is at home.

I think you've answered your own question quite well.

you are about 300 miles off jack, and a cell is hardly home

but I understand what your point

Then maybe...just maybe...thats where he ought to be.

In this country Australian law is practiced. Nothing else.

What time do you touch down in the Alice to sort all this out then?

What time do you touch down in the Alice to sort all this out then?

I'm confused.

Surely it is in our best interest as well as Liam's, that this works out for the best.

Why then are you so determined to convict him and banish him?

I highly doubt that the police would let a man convicted of violent assault with a dangerous weapon, to leave the state.

There was more support and belief in that scumbag Tom Scully than some people are showing towards Jurrah right now. Mind boggling.

I dont care were your from everyone is on the same playing field and everyone must follow club rules and the laws of this country. If liam broke the law or club rules there will be punishment to fit the crime. At this early stage liam looks like he might be in a bit of trouble and the club will be the last thing on his mind. Very sad

You'd have a point except Australian law was essentially that of our British forebears and if I were Aboriginal I would feel entitled to tell you where to go or at least check the constitution of this country first and see A} if I was recognised as an original inhabitant & B} if I am allowed to practice my own customs including tribal law. You might not like this concept but I reckon if you look harder you'd gain a new respect.

I have no idea what has happened and will not embrace the conjecture.

Let's just calm down and stay by the wireless.

I will stand by Liam until the facts tell me not to.

This is what I was trying to say earlier. There are many reasons an individual can be held in POLICE CUSTODY. At times, it's only as a witness.....

I have a mate who is reasonably high up in the Alice Springs police. I only read about this around 9:45pm tonight and he isn't able to answer his phone at the moment. I'll see what info I can muster (if any) and I'll pass on what I can (if anything).

I dont think jail is home and yes the MFC is a home for liam. He was given leave by the club when they could have said its not a good idea but we let him go. I hope it does not bite the club after all the hard work we have put in over the last 6 months. We all want liam back with his football tribe MFC

no ones convicted of anything... anything and everything is alledged !!

Still a person of interest will be asked to remain nearby.

Just as a dog barks and a cat meows, a certain type of person makes those comments.

By the way, thanks to everyone who quoted WJ for taking him completely out of context. O_o

Here's RudeBoy's take (I assume)

http://www.afl.com.a...09/default.aspx

Thankfully it doesn't sound like serious charges if he is being allowed to return to Melbourne. But the fact that he is facing charges will mean the club will have to reprimand him in some way. But still plenty more information to come.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a few different versions of 'Australian law' practiced... by postcode, outfit, accent, time of day, whether the perpetrator was a major defence contractor, who the victim was, what the mood of the police on hand was, even !gasp! whether you were a professional athlete or not. And that last one swings both ways, just to confuse things more.

Anyway, I thik the one piece of Australian law to remember right now is to reserve judgement until the facts are known, eh?

Nnnrgh. This is excruciating.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
