THE MELBOURNE Football Club has been advised that Liam Jurrah, who is currently on personal leave to deal with family and community issues in Central Australia, is being held by police following an incident overnight. No charges have been laid.

We are not aware of any further information and therefore not in a position to make comment at this time.

Yep.

There has been trouble up there for a while. I hope Liam is OK & can manage to keep at arms length from the heat of the feud.

Good Luck Liam...

Quite frankly if he is in custody then thats far more worisome than if hes simply 'helping' with inquiries

this is not a good sign....obviously, and it further makes my belief he will not return a little stronger

If your held by police liam has done something wrong or he would just be helping with questions we have done the right thing to let him go but if liam has done something bad then this will really hurt liam because you cant be given time to help family then go break the law. Mark neeld has allready shown colin what is the elite way to deal with things like this and i think liam may well be in the bad books for a while sen just said there is a knife involved and liam is in jail not good

Maybe letting him go up there was not such a good idea. Club should get him back immediately at protect our investment.

This is really bad guys not lookin good and this may well have been a big mistake to let him go back were things are out of control

and jftr...im not for a momnet suggestng hes actually done anything wrong. But in atmospheres and siutation as this seems to be its very easy to get caught up in something.

I was just reading the thread the other day how one person said Jurrah shouldn't be paid for his time of absence and he was blasted for it..I'm a huge Jurrah fan but this is just ridiculous. If the outcome is a negative one for Liam I would not be surprised if he has played the last game for the MFC...

I think it's best to hold off until we know something more than 'being held in custody'. Could literally be for anything. And realistically, if he's got a wrist injury......

There's a couple of important things to remember here...

NT Police quite often hold Aboriginals for a time while they sort out the intricacies of the situation. Dealings involving tribal disputes and law are massively complicated which is generally not helped by the lack of trust between tribes and police.

Liam, being a fully initiated warrior and elder is bound by tribal law to get involved or at least try and resolve any family disputes so while instinct says he was not an instigator, he may be classed as an offender by involvement.

It will be interesting to see how the NT court system deals with this as it will give us an insight into how they deal with Australian Law v Tribal Law.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
