I'm in Sydney for work at the moment staying in the CBD. Anyone know of any places that will play this? It's harder finder places here because Rugby is more popular > :(

Try the Mercantile hotel in the rocks, usually has AFL on one of the TV's there (Sorry can't remember the exact address)

You could go to the casino's sports bar? With so many screens, they couldn't all show rugby!

Have been there also. AFL is on there but I'm not sure they will show NAB cup which is up against the NRL season proper

The Sydney Demons usually gather at the Camelia Grove Hotel in Alexandria which is not too far from the city. Catch a train to Erskinville (two stops from Central on the Bankstown Line) and walk down Henderson Road for a few minutes (or, if you're cashed up, grab a cab).

the pies lost 3 games last year, all of them to the cats. we're missing 9 of our best 22. don't expect any new members tonight.

The Filth have lost at least five out of last years team with 3-4 still out injured also. I'll back my boys in.

It's the round 2 game when we lost by a point :(

We should have won that game!

Just watched the replay of that game gee it still hurts but so many positives from that game no wonder we all thought 2011 was going to be our year. But on another positive note I just watched Le Bron and his Heat lose to Utah! I really really Dislike Lebron and Miami a lot.

Do members get free entry to tonight. I know it's no the norm, but i remember reading somewhere that members would get free entry this year for pre-season games.

Definatly not free entry for members.

How can they justify not letting members in for free to NAB Cup practice matches? What a joke, I remember now they made us pay last year against the Dons. I won't be going to NAB Cup again until they change it back to free entry for members (couldn't go this year anyway due to other stuff on but will not go in future).

EDIT: Just checked the website - $21 for GA (3rd level) and $32 for reserved seating (1st level) - it's a frigging practice game what a joke. The AFL & Docklands = bigger rip-off merchants than Foxtel.

Those that didn't see the game last week wouldn't realise how bad the conditions were , they didn't see we had half a side , didn't see we were practicing the game plan , they just read the bottom line ... we lost to GC .... Bad.

I second this. I was listening on the radio and it sounded really bad. The SEN commentators must be completely ignorant of trends in modern football if you go by their work on our games. When I DLed the games and watched them it suddenly became very clear that we were playing for very specific goals that had nothing to do with the scoreboard (almost as if we were having a practise match). I think it's a damning indicment of the SEN crew that they couldn't. or wouldn't see this and let their listeners know that it was going on.

My plans for the night fell through so I've decided to go at the last minute, god I hope I'm not regretting this decision in a couple of hours!

I also reckon its BS that we have to pay these prices to go to a glorified practice match, in previous years they've made it cheaper (say $10-15) for adult entrance. If they made it cheaper with a membership it might also increase early resigning.

But I guess I'm going so i'm just putting more money in the AFL's coffers.

MelbourneFC tweet:

"Tom McDonald & Rohan Bail will be our subs tonight. Gysberts, Dunn, Blease, Fitzpatrick are not playing tonight from initial 29-man squad"

Disappointing that Blease isn't getting a run.

Disappointing that Blease isn't getting a run.

Agreed, it sounded like he had an excellent intraclub match was hoping to see him rebound from his suspension.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
