Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Maric won't want to be retained even if we want him I think, presuming he's still got interest from another club - North in particular. So he's 1, we just need one more. I think if we are keeping Bate we may as well keep Joel Macdonald, he's a strong body and if you fix his kicking he can play AFL. For mine that rules it down to Fitzpatrick and Wona, and I'd be happy to delist and rookie either of them.

Big Jake Spencer would have to be close to being delisted.....

Spencer

Maric

Aussie to be re-rookied, if it can be done? without losing him to others...

As he was only upgraded to the senior list before this season we presume he's contracted for 2012. Sorry! Big Jake gets the chance to get healthy and show us what he can do, regardless of he deserves it or not. Dunn, Bate, Bartram, Spencer and more all in trouble at the end of 2012, what can they pull out of the hat?

I would be annoyed if we refused to move Bate on for pick 39, then moved Wonna on so we can draft with pick 54.

What's the status of Spencer's contract? Surely he's OOC? He must be on the chopping block too, right? I mean, we've got Jamar, Martin and Gawn, with Clark as well. Not entirely sure if Spencer is worth too much to us anymore. And I see far more value on Wonna than in Spencer.

Dunn's contracted I'm guessing, otherwise he should go.

I heard on SEN1116 that Melbourne were adamant they wanted a first rounder for Bate. I would have thought pick 39 was paying overs by the dogs.

I think Spencer is contracted for 2012, not certain but I thought we gave him 2 years at the end of 2010.

I doubt there is a club that would be interested in Wona.

The guy has played 24 games in 4 years of which a bare half dozen would be considered good.

Add his constant injuries and I think it is a miracle that he is still in with a chance.

Please do not tell me he is more value than Mcdonald, Dunn, Bate or Fitzpatrick.

He is very seldom on the park.

If you are not on the park you are no use.

Maric is 100% gone.

Wonna 75% but would be rookied.

Joel MacDonald would be 50/50 but with Warnock going our depth down back has thinned making his case to stay on stronger.

Spencer 100% would be gone if not for the fact he is under contract. He won't play another game for the club.

Comes down to who out of Macca and Wonna is more valuable to the club. If 2011 is anything to go buy it is not the latter.

As for the rookie list, the broom could come out. There is zero need for Robbie Campbell with Clark in town, and Tom McNamara has shown he is not up to it. Juice has run out of Juice (chances). So there is 3 spots without even taking into consideration that Cameron Johnston may have only received a one year deal. Nicho and Evans will both be retained and are unlucky we were not more active during the trade period as either could have seen themselves elevated had Bate, Maric and more draft picks been traded on to other clubs.

tough but fair assesment olddee

As bad as it sounds, i think Wona will be kept on as a rookie, if only to provide stability for Liam Jurrah

Dunn and Juice must have some incriminating photos of someone pretty high up, becasue neither of them would be retainined on any other AFL list

If wona is delisted, it would do irreparable harm to the fabric of the playing group and supporters. For heavens sake, both his parents died recently, he is a good footballer, a good bloke and he needs a chance to put it all together. I wish I could meet the people that Think we should delist him. I would love to buckle their knees, cripple them a fraction. Heartless barstards!

I do not understand why Dun's name keeps coming up in these discussions!

One of the few big bodies we have that regularly kicks goals from outside 50m and is willing to get up the nose of the opposition. His report was a moment of craziness this year, but there are a few head of him - there is no way that Newton could be retained again!

Dunns name comes up because he is not very good. He has played a few good games, but he has been around for a long time.

He can kick long goals, but that is about it.

He gets up other teams noses because he is annoying, not for any other reason.

If he was not contracted I would delist himquite easily. There are many ahead of him. Clarke, Watts, Jurrah, Howe, Petterd, McDonald to name a few.

Maybe, but it'll only take a couple of injuries to shorten that list. We need 30 good, solid players to be serious contenders, and if Dunn is number 29, so be it. Think we should see what happens under the new coaching team, and he can be moved on when his contract runs out in 12 months if surplus to requirements.

Like a few others ... could be a big year in 2012, in more ways than one. Even Green only has a one year contract.

Before you come at me with a Kathy Bates-in-Misery-style rampage, this is not the ruthless thinking that a successful club needs. This is more like the malarkey that led to the Cockatoo-Collins twins ending up on the list. We aren't a charity, and we couldn't have been more supportive of Wonna over the past year. Putting him on the rookie list is not the end of the world.

Maric would also be a certainty to get the chop, so with those two done we can settle on picks 36, 52 and 54. No need to promote any other rookies.

Wonaeamirri is both a possible high-quality player, and positionally required. I'd be astonished to see him cut for the sake of pick 72.

Maric doesn't want to be there and isn't required, so not a hard one to anticipate.

So... Warnock, Scully and Maric out. Still need one more and I've said 'keep' to Wona...

Guess it is just as well I don't really rate Joel MacDonald.

HOWEVER

As I understand it, as part of the adjusted drafts for GC and GWS all clubs are permitted to hold onto players a little more - we may count a rookie upgrade to the senior list as one of our three compulsory draft selections.

Daniel Nicholson, come on down.

Time to start the draft fantasising about pick 36 and 52. (consults shallow little wish list compiled from various reading just to keep a vague awareness of the draft up...)

We'd be lucky with Brody Mihocek. Solid build... a taller more versatile Joel MacDonald type?

Aseri Raikiwasa for a highly mobile 'third tall' type. Another solidly built kid, too.

Joshua Waldhunter. A buddy for Jordie McKenzie. Crazy man.

Sam Dwyer. Port Melbourne's little gun. Worth a try as a crumber with occasional midfield session?

Anthony Tipungwuti. Looks like Wonaeamirri, reports have me thinking he's more like the Jetta family.

I may have to delete Dwyer from my wish list as his name just isn't fun to say. Bit short on syllables, poor guy.

I agree that Spencer has slipped a long way in the pecking order with the progress of Martin and Gawn in 2011 and the recruitment of Clark. However, had he not done his ACL, he would have been the front-runner to replace Jamar when he was injured mid-season. Them's the breaks in footy I guess, and with our present ruck stocks, it indeed seems unlikely that he will play senior football for the Dees again. None-the-less we have invested a lot of time and effort into his development, and this was starting to show before he was injured. If he can get his knee right by the middle of next year, and play some decent footy for Casey in the second half of 2012, I reckon he's likely to have some trade value come this time next year.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
