The Brendan Fevola Thread

I have a few mates who are Saint's supporters hearing that it could be them.... which is bizarre if true.

Of all the Melb based clubs, the only ones I can see having a role for Fev would be:

Us (If all the options we are going for fall through)

Dogs (If they want to replace Hall and still think they can make a crack for the top 4)

Essendon

Nth Melbourne

Can't think of a fit at any of the other clubs....

A club without a coach shouldn't be making such a big decision as trading for Fev. It might just be an inquiry, and if it is, it could be anyone. I really doubt it is us.

Not that I am disagreeing with you (About it being us) But if Neeld sees us needing a power forward, and Clark, Lisle, Tommy Walsh etc... all of those fall through, and you had the option of Fev there for base wages, why wouldn't you give it a crack (with behaviour clauses in place...)

In the past it would have been that the he would be taking the spot of a younger player that we could develop, but I sense the perception of some people has changed a little now to wanting to get a strong body up front to take the heat off Watts, and to allow Jurrah to be the 3rd forward option.

Is he the power forward .... or is he just a focal point forward that isn't capable of bringing others into the game around him (I didn't see him play @ Casey so not sure if he is capable of bringing others into the game)

Olarenshaw was surprised as to who it was...? Given the circumstances, MFC would fit that description very, very well. (Edit: As a smokescreen to detract from Clark)

I was against it a few months ago but I'll admit now to be swaying.

So we're looking for a stop-gap to plug a hole until a more long term prospect is ready.

Fev has transgressed in the past but is adamant about his desire to right those wrongs and atone for his previous misdemeanors (he says)

If his behavior wasn't an issue he would be on a list, probably dominating a forward line currently..

Put him on a strict behavioral based contract with regular toxicity checks, very well defined termination clauses and leave the rest up to the Fev. I would also add into any contract that he is not able to take part in any mad Monday celebrations. I don't care if the players earn the right to have these- Fev has proved time and again he can't be trusted when the players get the opportunity to let the hair down.

We have more to gain from having Fev than we have to lose if we clearly define our expectations of him and fashion a contract to suit that!

That to me screams Carlton!

Possibly . they are trying to unload Setanta.. its a curiosity

Let's face it - any Melbourne club chasing Fev would be a surprise - it doesn't indicate anything. Name me a Melbourne club that wouldn't surprise - the Dogs would probably be the least surprising.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
