The promising young Demon midfielder again showed glimpses of his ball getting ability and was showing definite signs of improvement until a scaphoid injury put an early end to his 2011 campaign.

We are yet to see his best.

The Gys getting season ending injuries in his first two seasons has been concerning, but otherwise I reckon he's a young gun who's very under rated and rarely gets mentioned as much as Watts, Trengove and a former $cully did.

For such a skinny kid I reckon his clearance work is first class and reckon once he's put on some muscle could become one of the best clearance players in the AFL.

If Jack Watts is a Nick Riewoldt clone, then I'd have to say Jordan Gysberts is a Scott Pendlebury clone.

Another special one.

Get some mass on his hindquarters and he will be a Dal Santo/Pendlebury type player.

200 game player if he applies himself diligently.

Ripper of a kid, and I can't wait to see how devastating he will become with a bit more grunt.

Needs to build up - has all the right skills and instincts to be a real gem.

Hopefully Craig and Missen will get his body right ... then....wham!!

I really like what I've seen of Gys in 2010 /2011, but unfortunately we have only seen glimpses. He has a great deal of upside if he can get his body right and keep it that way. Build his body and endurance, and improve his disposal a tad, and we have a potential gun midfielder who wins a mountain of ball, and is extremely difficult to match up on. We now have some of the best fitness and conditioning staff in the AFL, and I reckon they will be spending a lot of one-on-one time with Gys over the Summer.

Expectations have been high of our boys, but as I posted on the Jack Watts thread, apparently it takes 3 years for the boys

to be fully AFL fit, according to fitness coaches interviewed on SEN yesterday. We should be seeing the improvements next year

and onwards.

Needs to have a full pre-season, never looked fit throughout 2011, has a big upside and has shown he has ability just needs to get his endurance right and stay fit.

Injuries aside, he is now in out best 22 especially with Scully leaving the building. Showed plenty of grit for a kid. 2012 is a big year for him and I think he is going to be a ripper of a player going forward.

Posted

What I really like about the kid is that his football is instinctive, you can't teach that. You either have or you don't. What I also noticed this year is that he can also take a good grab. Give him a strong body and endurance to match and this kid could be anything. I'm seriously excited by the GYS.

I'm a massive fan - my question marks are over his kicking technique and body shape... he might be one of those guys that may not be able to muscle up but hopefully I'm wrong and he becomes a beast. We're crying out for a Scott Pendlebury in the guts so lets hope he gets there.

See Avatar, wears the #5 after the great Ox.

Love child.

Will be a very handy player, not a star, but a well respected midfielder who will be there when we win our next flag!

I like him, but is soft. Skirts contests more than Benny, doesn't get the hard ball.

Have you ever watched the kid play??

Terrible incorrect appraisal.

Simply wrong.

You are either taking the [censored] or not quite right in the head!

I think everyone can agree this kid is going to be an absolute gun! Has the goods already and not afraid of body contact- with such a small body.. someone else on our list can learn from that...

I stand by my opinion, after all, it is mine.

I just feel that he doesn't work hard enough, could get much more out of himself. And for a 'gun midfielder' he has no tank. Get him gut running with Jonesy and let's see how he does.

LOL he has only been on the list for 2 years, what the hell do you expect??!

My opinion is that your opinion is total crap.

He's had 5 posts, most likely taking the [censored]. Gysberts has a thirst for the contest [censored], is regularly digging the ball out and putting his head over it. Get a clue

The Gys getting season ending injuries in his first two seasons has been concerning,

Hang on, wasn't his first one an impact injury where a filth player (Daisy Thomas?) cannoned into his back and bruised a vertebrae?

Hardly a cause for concern.

I tend to agree with colossus there, I am appalled at Jordan's lack of fitness for an elite player. He was drafted as a fitness nut, what happened to his core strength and tank? Bailey at fault?

Posted

Jury's out for me sorry. Just not sure if he will make it to the level everyone on here is expecting him to. That's not saying that I don't think he will make it, I just don't know.

I hope I'm wrong, but to say that I am already is totally over-rating the kid.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
