Perhaps they could become our new apparell manufacturer. It would be a bold move, but not unprecedented

edit. Few years back St Kilda had Piping Hot manufacturing their jumpers. Not the greatest stuff, but Quiksilver are miles ahead of Piping Hot.

Just a thought.

Couldn't be worse, what we have now is a disgrace. At the bear minimum they should be able to do the jumpers red and blue.

I will get excited when actual news is heard.

I don't mean to sound negative but I would like to hear something.

the board may not have even thought about it and this thread has given them the best idea ever.

You seriously think that the board and management will wait and rely on a fan to come to the rescue.....................

Was just having a joke thomo. I don't believe a fan will come to the rescue. What wouldn't be a joke is if the club did not already have something nearly signed

Year of the Dragon Tomorrow

Surely Year of sponsorship must follow.

Chinas' Sharemarket starting to climb.

It must me all those orders for Melbourne Apparrel being lodged.

You may be correct but I'd be surprised If It was announced while the tennis was still on. Footy clubs put a lot of thought into when announcements are made so they get maximum exposure.

If Chinese can't be done until after new year cleaning out the old year then bringing in the new.

my prediction for today was wrong.

Oh well.

Maybe for the family day, just how long can they leave this up in the air?

Is all this China stuff a waste of time. Maybe the guys didn't get a deal done over there???/ This is outrageous!

maybe Schwaby is getting all nostalgic again regarding the Jumper; bring back the collar, dark blue & blood red, and no sponsor!

Maybe they are jusy waiting for the tennis to finish Deelirious. But then when that finishes, we have a small window until the Terra Australis Great Southern Land Mountain Bike Epic being held between Feb 5 - Feb 11 which will draw the attention of AFL followers all around Australia. As soon as that's finished we have a couple of days until Valentine's Day, so perhaps we could have a campaign where Neeld and Craig are out for a candle-lit dinner and are being waited on by staff of <<insert new sponsor>>. If we miss that massive marketing opportunity, we will be right in the middle of the Sustainable Living Festival at Federation Square, so we will have to wait for that to conclude, which is actually the 26th Feb, the day after our 1st NAB Cup round.

It appears to me that for the next 6-8 weeks, there is no "right time" to announce this new sponsor, so all pre-purchased jumpers will not be sent until such announcement.

Am I being sarcastic? Abso-bloody-lutely. People still think that the announcement of the new Melbourne sponsor is going to be the biggest news in the AFL and should have is own week of celebration. FFS people, there is 22k-odd members who will be interested, and however many other people that barrack for Melbourne. Outside that, noone gives a toss. If we have one signed up, put it on our website. Regardless of what other events are on, we will get just as much coverage in the media.

FWIW, if any other team announces a sponsor, as a diehard opposition supporter, I will often not use that company out of spite. I've never owned a Ford car, never flown Emirates, have gone off eating Mars Bars and flying to Tasmania.

Perhaps it's as simple as not being able to get someone to pay what we are asking.

Yes i think the announcement window is the least of our worries. I was certainly hoping all would be stitched up by now. The situation in Europe is a concern. And maybe companies are baulking because of our previous efforts over the last few years? Who knows. As the season is yet to start i still have not hit the panic button, but it is getting closer.

The Aussie $$$ is growing in value by the hour which may also be a sticking point.

Haha love it.

I refuse to use Spicer's Paper or Nubrick (not that I ever knew what they were), will only eat Hungry Jack's when I'm heavily intoxicated, will never buy a Camry, will not use QBE for insurance, can't travel to Malaysia now, am not a fan of TAC, refuse to use Mission tacos, wouldn't touch a Collingwood sponsor (Macca's, Nike or Puma, Lexus, Qantas etc etc) and I don't know if I'll buy a Toyota while Vlad is the big boss.

I rang the Demon Shop regarding the arrival of the new Jumpers.

I was told that they were expecting an announcement of the other Joint Sponsor within 2 weeks.

Once that has been announced the sponsors LOGO for the front of the jumper must be approved by the AFL before the jumpers become available.

They anticipate that to be 2 weeks after AFL approval.

Adding up 2 +2 and I get 4 weeks from Monday when I rang.

We may get them about the time of our first Intra Club practice game

I have to agree with everyones anger and anxieties. Its getting late and why the club have not come out to say a sponsor is immenant is worrying.

On a side note, how much do Toyota give to the AFL? Why do they sack 350 ppl yet give money elsewhere? Its wrong IMO!

Funny you say that Chippy as I rang the MFC admin for an unrelated matter and thought while I have them on the phone I would ask about the sponsor. The reponse was far from positive, in that she said we are still looking and are hoping to have something prior to the season begining.

Admittedly it was an admin officer & probably wouldnt know the in & outs of the sponsorship dealings, god knows Ive got no idea whats going on at my workplace but still if true its a bit of a worry.

Will wait and see.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
