Tom Scully in September ...

Grandson of a gun

What is wrong with you people??? Money money money!!! I too last week accepted a job that will pay me double of what I was earning. Should I have stayed at my old workplace on half of what I was offered? NO!! Screw loyalty, its not about that...Its about looking after number 1, its about setting up your life, your family, being able to educate your children and giving your loved ones the best life possible. Being able to live comfortably. You lot arent going to pay Scully's bills or buy his house for him. Gee whiz dillusional lot you are!

Tom at the airport said he hasn't made a decision as of yet, and that he was just having a look, as you would with any offer.

Ah, ignorance.

Thanks Mr. Pennski.

I knew what "palpable" meant, I just thought "audible" probably fits better.

I'll take your word for it that you could hear the panels laughing, but I also saw both and didn't notice the sound of laughter either time.

You sure that's what they were laughing at?

On these footy shows they do tend to take turns acting the fool quite a bit.

I have TSFS on tape. There's a definite laugh from the panel when the film of Hutchy's report ends and they go back to the studio. The panel are all smiles.

They were laughing at the Scullys.

The fact that people think you can't live comfortably with around 600,000 per year highlights how misguided humans are. And playing for a football team with thousands if loyal followers is not comparable to Joe Bloe working for the average soulless organization. I'd leave my employee for a massive salary increase but not a footy team that put it's faith in

me. I guess that's just me though. Obviously being a passionate supporter of thus club does make my opinion biased.

Even better news for the Bombers. Hurley to GWS

Looks like we will be handballing the megathread over next year. Maybe some could offer some advice for the Bomberblitz members.

Bomberblitz have already started their first "Hurley to GW$" thread ... http://www.bomberblitz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62909

Replete with familiar bashing of journos and cries of he's no chance to go etc ...

The poor buggers. I almost feel sorry for them.

Yep - this was reported this morning on the SFS. Do you believe it?

From what I've heard about what Tom's like as a person, yeah, I do.

You do know that Hurley's gone, don't you?

Well we can't be sure about that but if Lloydy drops it on SEN next year that he's 98% sure he's gone, I'd say bank it.

Suffer to them. Lets see how "one of the big power clubs" handle this one then. I laugh at this.

On a separate note how uncivilized is their website? One of the posters bio is "rock out with your [censored] out." Compared to them we are all scholars!

Melbourne is not the pinnacle of success. Therefore, comparing Scully leaving to other clubs losing established Premiership playing players also from the first round is a stupid comparison.

i havent really got involved in this yet but my opinion is i think he is gone, but i will be interested to hear his excuse if he says its not about

the money then he is full of BS.

If he says its the challenge of starting a new franchise then thats BS.

If tom scully wants a challenge in life then i can think of no better challenge then trying to get Melbourne to its 1st premiership since 1964.

So whats it gonna be tom become a millionaire overnight and lose every game 4 the next 2 years, Or help the MFC to a premiership getting well paid to do so,

if you stay tom and get us a flag you will become immortal amongst the MFC and go down in history as the kid who was the most loyal of all time.

If he goes to GWS its 4 money and nothing else dont matter how you spin it.

His Demonland banner image has been dulled. I dare the moderators to replace his image with a dollar sign until we get the compo for him.

I dare the moderators to stretch his nose out a little in Pinocchio style every time he publicly says he clearly hasn't made up his mind yet.

t

Its a bit harsh on Scully mate! I would question his character if the money is the underlying factor, but its the system thats allowed this to take part not Scully. Give MFC & other clubs who have/will lose players the same level playing field to compete. Lets not forget that they have extra room in the CAP to pay more. My question his who created this?? My next question to you is would you not consider a job offer paying 200-300 k more a year?? I dont agree with the whats happening & the MFC are getting shafted again! But dont take it on the kid, should we have a crack at Judd, he took the money, Ablett, sure they achieved flags etc

We have the same cap as Carlton, Richmond & Collingwood. What is the difference between Thomas, Swan, Martin, Kreuzer or Murphy deciding to stay? They were all playing under the same rules as MFC & Scully. Unfortunately for us those players have shown what character and integrity mean while our prized number 1 recruit has only shown that he really puts the pro in professionalism if you get my drift... I can't logically argue any of these points when you have such a narrow-minded view.

They'd be wasted words.

Best of luck to you.

No you can't logically argue them because truth is undeniable. Best of luck to you if you're happy being shafted by someone who grins in your face the whole time but I've got a bit more pride than that.

And on that note permit me to introduce Pat Drummond, one of my favourite Aussie singer/songwriters with this clever song The Road to Damascus which just about fully sums up what I think of the farcical scenes today at Tullamarine Airport. I hope that Hutchy and the Scullys have the necessary sense of humour to appreciate Drummond's brilliant story telling. Come to think of it, this could apply to most of the players including the journalists, the managers and just about anyone else who's played a part in this seemingly never ending saga which thankfully is drawing near an end:-

2024 Player Reviews: #35 Harry Petty

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress. SLIP SLIDING AWAY by Meggs

It was a sweaty, slippery night at Cazalys Stadium, a tough slog with low scoring and missed opportunities.  The Hokball Hawks hung on to win by a goal and sit second on the ladder, relegating the disappointed Demons to, almost certainly, finals spectators.   We had to win this match. When news broke of late withdrawals of talisman Kate Hore and key back Gaby Colvin, expectations plummeted, and Demon fans despaired.  The bad news was the signature song of 2024, a season that’s
