Good luck to him. He will be instrumental in the Suns youngsters development.

I wish we could have had him at the Dee's but I'm confident that the people we have in charge now have a very similar intent with regards to culture and leadership.

A very good get by the Suns. Pretty impressive the way they are going about building that new franchise.

Unlike their slimy counterparts in Blacktown.

If I was Kirk I wouldn't take my "brand" near GWS either. Given Kirk's previous role as an ambassador/employee of the AFL I expect they are 99% behind this.

What a tragedy!!!

Damm!! oh well at least they are marginally better than GW$...very marginal.

Don't really see what GCS have done to be target of that kind of ire. I dislike GWS as much as the next guy but was happy taking the youngsters at Gold Coast on as a second favourite team for the year. Still wish them all the best.

You won't be talking like that if they win a cup within 5-10 years!! Both these franchaises are "add water" clubs and will always be. Edited by why you little

Agree, there are too many people around in not clearly defined roles. But it would be up to the new coach to decide if he'd like some one like Kirk around as an assistant coach. Assuming he is avaliable.

BUMP.

Is he available now? Ahem.

ahah i just saw who started this thread originally in 2011: Range Rover. Remember that guy?

I always got along with him quite fine, but man i saw some good fights between him and others on here.

Yeah well, my point that I made a couple of weeks ago on the first bump is that Kirk might be the man, the assistant and possible successor. Couldn't give a continental who started the thread. I picked this thread as it is related to an assistant coach role.

An update on Kirk from the Freo website:

"Sydney premiership player BRETT KIRK joined the Fremantle Dockers as an assistant coach at the end of the 2012 season.

Kirk worked with Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon and stoppages coach Mark Stone when both were at the Swans.

Widely regarded as one of the most courageous and resilient players to have ever pulled on the boots, he played 241 games for Sydney since making his debut in 1999, including the last 200 without missing a match.

Co-captain of the Swans from 2005-2010, Kirk is a highly decorated and respected figure, whose list of achievements include a 2005 AFL Premiership win, All-Australian selection in 2004 and Sydney best and fairest in 2005 and 2007.

In 2011, he spent six months travelling the world and spreading the word about football as the AFL's International Ambassador.

Kirk is responsible for Fremantle's midfield."

*cough*

Barrett is now onto it.

... oh, No! thats like saying "Judd for the Defence"!

hound dog Barrett, will always sniff out things, & find his way around to the bottom of it, and get it done.

he's the ace of footy journo's, hadn't you heard? bestin business

God not Judd. Don't think he's been a great captain. Seems remove and self contained. Doubt he has good inter- personal skills. Neeld like personality I reckon. Has the warmth of the Franz Joseph glacier.

I wouldn't mind Judd as a playing assistant for a year.

The dude abides.

(Just don't [censored] on his rug!)

"STFU Donny!"... Great piece of film-making. I don't understand why some people just don't get it.

What were we talking about?

It's a no brainer . The successor to The Great Man must be selected by Roos himself . How could anyone doubt his judgement? No more panels or Garry Lyon advice thankyou!

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
