Cale has been dropped, hopefully with instructions. It seemed to work for Ricky Pettard, who has turned it around. Cale has enormous potential, some confidence in himself and some learning at Casey would serve him well. Traded? I see no link between being dropped on form / confidence and not having a place in the future MFC success plan. Lets see how it plays out.

he hasnt shown a heap this year but does have some real talent. must be very low on self-confidence. Im all for keeping him. Have put too much into him to trade him. That said he does need to show us faithful that he deserves to say.

Sitting on the fence at its finest!!!!!

At his stage of his career he shouldn't be in the 2's.

Its not good enough for a number 4 pick.

Shame we didnt select Taylor Walker at number 75 now lol

It would be mad to trade Morton so early in his career, he's going to be a top player. We all need to be more patient with Cale, he's going to take time.....

I hope your not a Real Estate Agent, working for stockdale.

I'm on the "trade him" wagon as I've said.He has been lucky to get so many chances and his confidence is low . Cant see any reason to keep him even if he keeps showing glimpses. Jack Watts was class from his first touch (even though they say he had a shocker) .Cale has always seemed to me to be a predictor of where the ball might go , and a finder of space .He will get more opportunity elsewhere and probably wants to go home anyhow .The dietician/weights coach have failed him here also . My feeling is that the club will keep him if Dean Stays and get rid of him if not .DB seems to see the light with him and I'm just another loonie on the net , but who knows.

Actually for mine he strikes me as one of those.. "Always had the talent and showed potential but never did quite put it all together over his journeyman career"

time for him to continue that journey

if Cale Morton is delisted he should become an astronaut ....

He can only find the ball in space!

He plays a different style of game but he's the same height (or close to it) of Bate and Dunn. I suspect if Morton had the body of Dunn and the footy brain of Bate, he's be a very good player. As it happens, I think he's got the footy brain. But will he ever develop the body? If not, I can't see him being successful. If so, he could be a seriously good player. I'd keep him - I think it's easier to build a player's body than his brain.

In fact, I think too many of the pre-Bailey era recruitment decisions picked body over brain (meaning footy brain) so we had athletes who couldn't really play the game.

And for what it's worth, while I would have dropped him anyway, I think he's out this weekend because his body is not big enough to play a team like Hawthorn (or West Coast, for that matter).

reason for edit: Added last sentence.

Give him a full pre season with the fitness base

and get some touch and confidence then we reassess end of next

year see where he is at then. If he continues to struggle then

we trade.

I remember a couple of years ago when the heat was on, there was a bit push and shove and Cale got the push ,and he didn't offer a shove, he just turned around and ran off like the school bully was after him. Commentators just laughed!! I was appalled. And he hasn't done anything since to show me he has got what it takes to succeed.

NQR I'm afraid when the going gets tough

I remember that too- not really one for the highlight reel but it did look more cowardly on camera than it actually was.

A poor example when discussing Morton as a player, and possibly the most irrelevant too.

I'd describe it more like turning around and running off like the ball was coming in his direction.

Bad example. I remember this and he pushed Brendan Lade and ran off but it was later shown he ran to make space to get the ball which he did and ended up a goal. I still would cut our losses and trade him, NQR.

Another pre -season? He is in his 4th year. He'll have no value next year, very little now.

And if you are seriously suggesting his interrupted pre-season is the cause of his current malaise I'll spew. He had a finger problem FFS. Nothing to do with his fitness base.

I reckon I'll miss him........................................................................................................................about as much as Brent Grgic!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
