3. Watts

I thought Strauss was really good today. I don't think I saw him beaten 1-1, which is a big improvement, and he butchered 1 kick for the day. Also got a lot of the ball. Watts drops behind him because he butchered quite a few kicks trying to be more creative than he needed to. Sylvia obviously was our only attacking threat. Morton smashed Shaw for most of the match and gave us run out of the back half. Howe and Gawn both gave us something, Howe constantly presenting and once again taking good marks, and Gawn holding up the ruck when we were being thrashed everywhere else.

6. Sylvia

5. Morton - better game, still has to work on defensive side of game but getting there.

4. Watts - Effort and gut running, which is slowly getting rewarded, should of had a crack when he was 50 out on the puntroad foward flank, game was over, had a chance to show what he has got, instead missed a chip pass to leading target.

3. Scully - 29 touches, are touches none the less

2. Bennell - did solid job on krakour, krak got some cheap ones late

1. Gawn - Competed well, did a couple of good 2nd efforts on the ground, 23 hitouts, a solid game

6 Sylvia - Practically kicked our entire score

5 Morton - Beat Shaw who I rate unbelievably highly. His hardness is something he has to work on, but he played well today.

4 Watts - Kicking is brilliant verging on shocking - but that's usually not his fault.

3 Moloney - One of the only men in a team full of boys.

2 Howe - Lively forward and a hard worker (unlike some of our other lively forwards).

1 McKenzie - Effort personified.

Our young midfield let us down badly today. Don't blame Rivers for balls being put to Cloke's advantage time after time.

Just arrived home, tired, cranky and fairly emotional.

6. Sylvia

5. Moloney (thought he was the only player in the midfield to show any resistance at all, put his body on the line, and make reasonably sound decisions under immense pressure.)

4. Frawley (for his job on Cloke after he tore Rivers a new one.)

After those three, i'm having real difficulty... Ummm...

3. Howe

2. Gawn

1. Scully

The last 3 are "encouragement votes". Scully in particular, his disposal was atrocious and he was uncharacteristically fumbly with his ball-handling.

Morton did a job on Shaw, but there was a couple of instances, one Leigh Brown mark in particular, where he had to go and just didn't. Not good enough. Hate to take potshots at Jonesy, but god he was ordinary with his decision-making today. Even the kid next to me (wouldn't have been much older than 12) commented on it, he was shuddering everytime Jones went near it.

Players who won their position

6. Morton

5. Sylvia

Players who were best of the rest

4. McDonald

3. Howe

2. Scully

1. Moloney

I walked away from the game with only 2 players who I thought could claim they did their role. Sylvia and Morton

The other four were honest. I thought Martin and Watts could be added to that list. However Watts faded as the game went on.

Bennell had 6 disposals and a couple of tackles. His opponent Krakouer had 15 touches, kicked a couple and set a few others up.

Can someone please explain why he (Bennell) is receiving votes here?

Because of Krakouer's touches, only maybe 5 did anything and Bennell shut Krakouer out of all bar maybe one (that I saw, I know he kicked one at the end that I missed) one-on-one. Body-to-body and leg-speed wise, Bennell was fantastic.

As well as this, Bennell stayed as the small back while Krakouer shifted through the midfield for a time.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
