He'll be back possibly not until next year. Davey will probably go visit while he recovers from knee surgery.

I hope he is back, but if he is not, I wish him all the very best.

It's a horrible situation, and unless you have experienced real grief you can't really understand how hard things must be for him. He is still so young and the horrible things he has been through recently would take a toll on anyone.

Good luck to him and I hope he is back better than ever! :(

Tough year for this to happen to him, I think he is out of contract at the end of the year. AFL should let Melbourne move him to the Rookie list on compassionate grounds, or at least if we want to rookie him, and if he wants it, for the other clubs to do the right thing by him and not pick him up.

It would be nice if a decision could be made on this soon so he can sort things out without next year to deal with as well.

Edited title accordingly.

Now we're thin on short forwards for the time being.

You say that as if we have had a bundle of them at some point.

I understand Aussie situation HT and I hope he recovers

but really he has done very little this year.

I seriously doubt we will miss him over the next few weeks.

So do I

but you know what at the end of the day winning games is what we need,

if you cannot provide that then give someone a chance who might be able to.

The MFC needs a more brutal attitude if we are to get up off the canvas.

It is put up or shut up time.

I feel sad for Aussie but it is time to blood a potential replacement.

I also don't think we'll see him again but thanks for the memories Aussie.

When your name comes up I'll always remember that run down the members wing at the end of the memorable win against Freo, and your Dad celebrating on the ground with Stynesy.

Sorry mate, wasnt a criticism. I actually repsect the fact that you're post reflects the general thoughts by everyone if we were dicussing form or selections.

Did not see it as such, just adding my feelings.

Well in that case "play on!"

I hope Aussie and all of his team mates can catch up in Darwin in mid July.

Hopefully he just needs a re charge with family and will return stronger.

Nice words from Dean Bailey.

Good luck Wonna, you are always welcome back to the MFC.

You people saying he wont back need to have a good hard think about it.

Do any of you know him and his character? Been through what he has been through?

Aussie has been extremely strong for a 22 year old man. Impossible for me to even imagine what he is going through on the other side of the country to his family.

I can only hope he comes back but am more hopeful that he finds what he needs to get himself back to a happy place internally. Best of luck Aussie you definitely deserve some.

I fail to see how these comments relate to the subject at hand.

Really disappointing post for mine.

I feel the club have handled the situations with great compassion, class and dignity.

Too bad some supporters do not exhibit the same qualities.

Freo dude, remember it, would have been something like May 7 2008, was up in Ballarat doin a bike ride, on the way home turned off the radio as we were getting pantsed, turned back on the radio coming into footscray.....and the rest is history

The run down the wing and Wonna's dad with Jimmy was against Brisbane as Hell Bent said.

The Freo comeback had Wonna firmly inside forward 50 getting it done.

Good luck to Wonna, in whatever he chooses to do in the future.

Absolutely devastating news. I know he's been struggling a bit, but hopefully this issue is what has been eating at him. Please let this not be an untimely end to what could have been a great career. I'll miss ya Aussie, good luck.

I really do like the way Bailey takes the conversation so that rather than feeding the journos by offering up speculation, he deals with the mundane aspects regarding the number of turtles and fish caught :-)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
