He doesn't sound like a Neeld player to me at all, he sounds like a genuine AFL footballer.

Having expectations of going in and getting the hard ball isn't something new to the game that Neeld has introduced, it's been in the game since day dot, it's just in recent times (since the Northey days), we haven't had anyone demanding it.

I'm well aware that Neeld didn't invent getting the hard ball. But that is the style of player Neeld loves, Jack Viney is that type of player, hence Jack Viney is a Neeld type player. Don't understand your problem with me calling him this.

Because I don't see Neeld as the Messiah that some do on here. I expect all our inside mids to be hard players, regardless of who is coaching.

I don't think that saying someone has a skill set that would impress the head coach is making a messiah of the head coach, it's just saying what impresses a head coach.

Maybe not guns,,,aka Chris Judd but there always seems to be players available ever year...For example Mitch Clark, Luke Ball, David Hale, etc...

Melbourne has a huge hole in mid to high range tallented players..like David Hale.

A number of people think the Neeld is fantastic, and so far he has made changes to the culture at Melbourne, which a lot of people are very excited with. I'm not getting too worked up until I've seen him coach the real thing. But while he has made some radical changes offield, he has also had the support of the CLub, and they have been willing to spend the money on what it is that he wants. It could be argued that Bailey and even Daniher didn't have the same level of offield support, and investment in to the FD that Neeld has had. Hopefully he repays the Club by producing a premiership. Time will tell. But, like a number of areas of the Club, he has no excuses.

Anyway, I'm arguing over something trivial. People can call Viney whatever they like, but from all reports, I'm glad he's going to be "our player".

I don't see Neeld as the Messiah either. He is, however, a coach that has changed us from a team of skinny pretty boys that wait outside the contest and play for uncontested possessions to a team that has to go in hard after the footy at every contest. If players don't do this, they'll be playing in the VFL. JV is the type that the coach likes. He will slot straight into the team, I suspect. He's a 'Neeld Player'. (I'm not going to refrain from using this term).

Under Bailey last year we got tagged with playing " uncontested footy".

If under Neeld we get labelled " tough and hard at every contest" and these sorts of players get talked up by Neeld then I am all for "neeld players".

However we have seen nothing yet.

Mitch is a great pick up and meets a need we had, the next big need is an elite or A grade midfielder and I just can't think of any that will be up for grabs. Dangerfield is one name thrown up but he is at the moment a potential A grade Midfielder. I'm happy to draft Viney and two young Midfielders with our first 3 picks we are still 2-3 years away from chalenging for top 4.

Viney looks ready to follow in his dad Todd's footsteps and don a Demons guernsey right now. The hard-at-it onballer gathered 16 disposals, 10 of which were contested, laid six tackles, kicked a goal and gained six clearances.
