AFL to Dees: 'Please Explain'

I would love for us to get semantical and query their issue with the tweet.

Make them explain that tweeting with a 'hash-tag' and sending tweets '@' someone else means they were talking about the decision.

We won't though.

We will take the fine in our stride.

Which is fine...

If Trengove gets off.

And I know that the rules are there for a reason but they need to sit back and realise it is the Guerra-Bruce tackle and those intended to hurt/injure that are the ones they want to target, not an-off balance bloke with an arm free that he doesn't use to break his fall.

That dog don't hunt...

Can't remember, did Guerra get suspended for that hit?

Let's face it folks... tweets are public domain.

No difference really with mainstream media except it cannot be controlled with a licence fee by AFL, Government etc.

And let's face it, it is more immediately communicative than mainstream media and has a massive effect on community attitude.

It can, and does, create revolutions (ref middle east)

I agree totally with freedom of speech, as a general democratic rule, but just watch the AFL come down on this one, with a vengeance. I think rightly or else anarchy may reign within our game.

Players are contracted within the AFL. Player issues can be worked through the players association. Club and coaching issues can be worked through the AFL.

I'm optimistically hoping Friday morning after JT get's off the article is swapped to "Melbourne send AFL please explain: Melbourne President Jim Stynes this morning sent Vlad a please explain today discussing why 3 days of his life were wasted on the worst tribunal decision in the modern era".

Somehow can't see it happening..

If our guys get a please explain, then Steve Baker from the Saints should get a please explain for his support on the Twitter. (probably referring to the Montagna case...but it's hard to tell)...something about taking up netball next season.

I don't recall one tweet actually mentioning the Tribunal. If the Tribunal has not been criticized how can the AFL take any action. Also the only tweet that was derogatory was Petterd's and who can say what he was referring to. For example he may have suffered concussion from one of Johncock's hits to the back of his head and was reacting to the suggestion that he might miss this week.

Could've stubbed his toe.

I dont agree with the blokes using twitter to discuss the ruling, becasue i dont like twitter but i dont think any of the tweets crossed the line. Petterds "Bulls#it" was probably the worst, whilst Morton, Jones & Sylvia were obviously showing some level of sarcasm/contempt for the ruling, but i dont think they were overly excessive in their criticism. Asking can we tackle anymore, or i'm scarred to tackle is'nt a big deal in my opinion, and if the AFL make a big deal out of this then it proves they're losing the plot and taking their eyes of whats important.

If anything maybe the club will ask the blokes to delete their twitter acounts?

AFL need a please explain? I thought it was pretty obvious that the tribunal's decision was one of their worst ever. I would have been disappointed if the boys didn't rally around Trenners.

AFL owe us dees fans a please explain!

Unfortunately we already received our 'please explain'. Adrian Anderson came out and backed the decision. I for one can't ever remember AA coming out and saying that they got it wrong. Or Gieschen, or Vlad. Funny thing that. We get our please explain and it means $h!t.

Please explain !!

"Thankyou for your request. In order for us to satisfy this curiosity it would be an advantage that you were in possession of some intellect and rationale. It has been drawn to our attention that you possess neither so we are unable to proceed at this juncture."

Interesting that the MFC website has BradGreen18 just tweeting "Driving to Casey with @jtren9, let's make it #freetrengove day".

Good, keep it up captain. Obviously they haven't been told to shut it by the club. And I like it.

I can definitely remember Gieschen doing so on multiple occassions.

I'm not supporting the AFL's gagging of players at all but let's put it in context;

If you're a Sales Rep working for a company and you decide to write an article in the local paper outlining the companies poor decision making, what reaction would you expect?

Once again, I'm not supporting this type of action but would just like to point out it is not exclusive to the AFL.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
