Nothing has changed since he left... he would still be way back in the pecking order for midfield spots when all players are up an running.

Was a win win situation but unfortunately, as had happened quite often, his body has let him down.

i'd take him back if he was happy to play VFL! I think he'd struggle to get a gig week in week out, but i always liked him as a player and seemed to be into the club...until he walked out?!!

It comes to the end of the year and Mclean states that he wants to be a Demon again and aim to hit the form that he achieved many years ago. Would you take him?

What has he been aiming at for the past 5 years and missing?

Port Melb vs Northern Bullants must have been a cracker of a contest between the two past gems of the MFC midfield, McLean and Valenti.

And the answer...definitely not.

Valenti was good!

Brock has not increased pace since he left :P

No way! There's no room at Melbourne for 'list cloggers'.

I personally wouldn't take him back either. But where are all the people who said "Mclean is our next captain' gone to?

I think Mclean will still make it at AFL. His body simply hasn't stood up but I think in time it will. I guess we'll see how he goes this weekend if he gets named.

He is a strong chance for recall this week against the Swans. Hasn't played a great deal of footy for the Blues, and considering we got Gysberts with the pick, you can certainly say we got the better part of that deal.

I wasn't part of Demonland at the time but was one that thought he could well be the next skipper.

Was disappointed he went. It was becoming obvious that all three of Jones, McLean and Moloney were not going to be part of one midfield and although Brock's form had waned I thought he would always be better in the end than Jones.

Wrong at this stage as Jones has got more out of himself but I'll maintain that from seeing their exposed best form, Brock's is better than Nath. IMO.

Rapt that it has worked out in our favour and would not take him back.

I'd like the question changed as I always liked him at the dees but not now.

He has proven fragile and injury prone which is no doubt why he was offered up for the 11th pick which now looks a good deal in our favour.

At 25 you would hope to have a good 6 years to go but that seems doubtful.

IF, IF, IF!!!!!

He had talent, but was slowish even before his body failed him.

Bad luck, but we owe him nothing.

I voted 'Yes' for two reasons –

One, (contentious) he may still have some good footy left in him if he can get his body right. He was a 5th draft pick and touted as a future AFL captain early in his career. Injuries have taken their toll, but a lot of players have been able to come back from long stints out and rediscover good, if not their best form.

Two, (not contentious at all) he is a top bloke. Met him once and was amazed at how keen he was to talk footy and the dees with a supporter. And I still think putting 10K down for the club was an inspiring act.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
