In soccer it is customary for a player who has given years of service to a particular club not to rub it back in their faces with wild gesticulations when he scores a goal against them in new colours. Not sure if that applies to other sports or AFL football but I think it's a noble and sportsmanlike ideal, especially for players who have been treated very well and handsomely rewarded over the course of their careers.

Bruce's grinning fist pump at the MCC wing was very noticeable yesterday after he snapped a goal during their third quarter run on. Kind of sad for a 200+ game veteran of our club.

How much more did Bruce celebrate his goal compared to when he kicked them for us? As much as I dislike him, I thought he was quite mellow compared to some of his celerations when in the red and blue.

Did Dunn show him any respect after he kicked his goal? It's footy, harden up.

OK, I apologise for requesting the delete, I couldn't believe that someone would have an issue with how the opposition celebrated. But I don't apologise for the rest of my post.

He kicked a goal that started the momentum. Regardless of who I played for, current or previous, I would celebrate any goal in the same fashion.

Grandstanding?

I still can rememebr Brian Wilsons salute to the Members when he kick 5 for the saints agaist us.

I still love him for it!!

So do i !!!, Bruce got hammered by the MFC crowd, he gave a bit back...it was always going to happen.

His bald spot is more noticeable in those colours i did notice.

Doesn't worry me at all. I'm glad he's gone and allowed another spot for a good young Player. Bruce is nearly dusted, as he's been gathering it, dust, for years.

Yes, absolutely shocking to see a player celebrating an excellent goal in which he set-up AND then subsequently completed, the play!

not sure why im commenting but surely the way our boys played in the 2nd half is a tad more worrying than an opposition player kicking a goal and enjoying it. regardless of who it is.

Good for him - the Hawks had been getting smashed and needed to come out and kick some goals. After a long run he ended up kicking it (despite a terrible handball to the ankles of a teammate), and I would have been excited too.

Ridiculous thread.

I did, however, enjoy the booing. But he was more than entitled to celebrate kicking a goal that he started, that kept Hawthorn in the game (that's what it may have felt like when he kicked it) and that was against his old side when half the crowd was booing him.

I thought the crowd where I was - was relatively respectful and mellow towards Bruce. Except for the jerk who embarrassed himself close-by in the members near the end of the game when we were 40 odd points behind calling for Bruce to "turn it over ya hack!", much to the amusement of some Hawk supporters.

Not something I'd be proud of...

If you live and breathe Melbourne i'm more than happy to stand up and abuse like I would if we were in front or at the start of the game.

I may have been the laughing stock, but the real joke is people who leave before the finish.

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
