Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ratten does a Daniher

Well blow me down with a feather but please tell me Brett Ratten hasn't signed his death warrant as a coach by declaring that Carlton has embarked on a ruthless pre-season campaign aimed at making the players tougher mentally and physically - Ruthless Blues.

Is that not similar to what Neale Daniher promised but failed to deliver some years ago at Melbourne.

Ratten needs to carry his ruthless approach through because the word on Lygon Street is that the Blues are likely to have a new coach next year whose initials are M M and I'm not referring to Mickey Mouse or Marilyn Munro.

Michael Moore?

Marshall Mathers?

I know the residents of Lygon street might desperately want the grey ghost at the helm, but I doubt Eddie would let it happen.

Surely Eddie has no say given that Mick's tenure will be up and the prodigal step-son will be at the helm?

Mick's contract runs for a further 3 years after he hands over the coaching reigns to Buckley, as "Director of Coaching".

Presumably Eddie would have him signed to a water-tight contract that would mean, if another team were to sign Mick as coach, it would cost them far more than he is actually worth.

I get the feeling that if Mick was offered more than the Pies contract and wanted to go, Bucks would be happy to oblige and lean on Eddie to let him go, rather than have him there overseeing his work.

If there's one lesson from Daniher's experience with the 'ruthlessness' efforts (which went on as a mantra for three years), if you don't make real progress fairly quickly after setting it as a target, it can turn into a rot and it will never come through.

Think Knights and the 'added defensive pressure' proclamations... if progress doesn't happen, you can sink fast.

Another reason to appreciate Bailey's deadpan delivery. His grand statements usually can be summed up as things like

'We would like to have fewer points scored against us, and to score more points ourselves'

It is also a reason to like the 'Whiteboard wednesday' culture - sharing directly, even with just the core of crazed supporters like us, boosts transparency and genuine accountability. Having to say what your real plan is, out loud, sharpens the mind know end.

Micky Martyn?

Manfred Mann?

Michael Mansfield?

Mary Magdalene?

Marlon Motlop?

Marilyn Manson?

Any others ...?

How about Mal Michael? Since Carlton usualy go the nepotistc way with coaches, it must be Micky Martyn. He had an illustious career at Carlton and is highly regarded by their fans :) If Bailey turns out a dud I woudn't mind seeing Mick Malthouse come to us down the track.

I don't think Ratten's proclamations add any pressure that wasn't already there as they enter season 2011.

They've made and just lost two minor finals in a now. Anything less than a prelim berth will be seen by them to be a failure or treading water at best.

Ratten quite correctly feels its now or never for them to challenge under his tenure.

Ruthless was the word Daniher used to use- a very similar description by Ratten. Gone Gone Gone I say and I thought he would have been great at Demonland as a Senior Coach before he took on the Blues.

I heard a rumour that Paul Roos will be at Carlton next year in at least the same type of role as Bomber at essendon. Roos has a house in North carlton and has (allegedley) told at least one local that he will be at carlton after a year in the USA. It is whispered about a lot in Far North Carlton.

I suspect you are right.

The pressure must be mounting as he seems to be running them into the ground.

Carlton's bad bout of the Blues

We know too well what an interupted pre-season means down the line.

Why the need to change it from black?

I'm happy with simple, easy to read black text.

There's no need to change every single aspect of the colour scheme so that it is representative of the club colours.

It ends up looking like a flyer designed by a 6 year old.

???Mark McLure???

PS: How does the dark Blue colour appear on other media appliances?

This Blue looks outstanding and fitting as being one of our colours.

Whats all this talk about Mick? I thought Molloy was a tigers man through and through. Get him on the Visy payroll to throw old jokes at the suits at some corporate days at the Factory, get Judda$ to assemble a cardboard box for the kids to play in. Barrel O Laughs.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
