Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I didn't argue any of those things.

I'm arguing:

1. That the limit of 120 rotations a match excluding changes at intervals is very similar to the average of last years rotations so we won't see any noticeable difference.

2. I'm arguing the game would be better served if the rotations were further limited or interchange numbers reduced from 3 + 1 to 2 + 1 (or 2) to open play up so some of the more attractive aspects of football returned.

I used Lyon as an example of where the game is now. Note the words "a highly successful coach". He's doing exactly what I expect and getting excellent results.

It's not that hard Ben, but not only is your maths ability terrible ("game 4 didn't shed any extra light on anything") but your comprehension is shot. Even your insults are corny. "Fuddy". Wow, amazing.

You're boring.

I was talking about Dipper not Robbie.

I know 'H'

Robbie Flower epitomised the brownlow character, Yet was overlooked.

I was inferring to the double standards, Re the 'Chas Brownlow' votes, of some absolute champions who continually beat their elite peers, yet didn't get the top B&F award... "Bruce Doull" another.

Kid could be good but personally I believe that what this club requires now is another Backman. If Frawley stays (and I doubt he will), then invest in the best choice key positioned backman. If Frawley stays, then invest in a medium sized, hard running defender.

If stretch is available 2nd round, then take him by all means, as our second pick needs to be placed on another midfielder. Melbourne will finish 12th next year in my opinion and therefor I would assume we will get pick 7 (Med fast backman) , 30ish (Stretch) (with Free agent picks), 48ish.

B: Hogan McDonald Pick 7

HB: Grimes Frawley Tompass

C: Stretch Viney Michie

HF: Howe Dawes Trengove

F: Garland Clark Watts

R: Gawn Salem Tyson

I.C: N. Jones, Vince, Fitzpatrick

Billy still has a considerable way to go. 12 months ago the chat was that he may be able to make it at Senior level but that he was a fair way off the pace. I have followed his progress relatively closely and he is, of course, a fair bet to be drafted by us. However, Billy is not a first round option in any way, shape or form. MFC I'm sure would know this.

Yeah, tell him to take it easy and we'll see him in the third round.

We should've told Zac Jones the same.

No KB wants the 19th and 20th man back with no interchange.

nothing wrong with that

everybody complains of nil contests between the great players

well this would bring it back to 1 on ones

no more athletes, just fair dinkum footy players

King, I'm sure I said he wasn't a first round pick up. But, as your name promises, you are welcome to misinterpret me.

If we could pick up Viney in the second round of the draft considering we was a possible Top 5 pick then I'm pretty sure we could pick this kid for a third round pick.

I think the reason we got Viney second round was that there was nobody below us challenging in the first round and we obviously came to an arrangement with GWS. It was not related to his skill or where he would have fallen if he was not eligible under FS criteria.

I'm well aware of that m8, I was just makeing a point. Some comments on this thread at saying they wouldn't use a first round pick on him but I don't think any other AFL team would pick him before round 2 or later.

I am not expecting much from Billy if we get him,but it just adds another nice touch to the rebuilding, with sons of former good players wanting to play with us.

I am sick of the insults given us by players telling their managers that they wouldn't even consider us when leaving their club. As we hopefully climb up the ladder we will become a more desirable destination.

I think we will definitely pick him maybe round 3 or 2 if some club bids. I like the idea of someone who barracks 4 us wanting 2 play & not so much 4 the paycheck. Its gr8 when a young player loves the club even b4 he gets grafted. I know Wines wanted 2 play 4 us but in that instance we had 2 go 4 Jimmy T. Also young Stretch has the father son link.

Or for that matter, derailing the thread.

But now that you have, I seem to recall that he's not on the radar (disclaimer - can't remember where I heard this though)

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
