WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

No. Try this:

Father-Son Rule: This rule was introduced to ensure that family traditions were upheld when it comes to footy, as sons of fathers that played for any given club could be selected by that club regardless of zoning rules. In order to be eligible for the Father-Son Rule, the father had to have played at least 100 games for the club. All other teams are allowed to bid on the son. The team that wishes to draft the son then has to match the highest bid with their next available draft selection.

Yep thanks for that.

But the real issue is the teams that have picks 10-18, because they could force us into using him with our first pick.

The teams that are 1-9 picks are no problems because he's not rated anywhere near that level yet.

But based on his recent form in U18 comp and SANFL he could be moving up into top 20.

We need to remind all recruiters about Stretch and Dipper.

No they couldn't. We use the NEXT available pick. If we have picks 9 and 27 to be forced to use pick 9 one of the first 8 teams have to nominate him. If we don't want to spend pick 9 then the bidding team must take him. If pick 10 nominates him we can get him for pick 27.

Someone just start some 'drunken sex romp' rumours

dunno about his romps, but he's getting involved with the Hells Angels is a bit of a worry. maybe we should put him on the back burner, after he's running with them.

survived his initiation, & colours are on the way.

He has attitude issues and will not be taken in the draft any higher than 60th or so .

This is the news we should be circulating about him.

The Crows are trying to inflate his worth.

did you catch him picking the drunks pockets, down at the Gat again Biff.

wish he'd stop doing that, & just clean the toilets like he should be. earning his stash.

It always amazes me that people who have no idea how it works have so much to say. If you have no clue how f/s works stop talking like you have an idea.

I hope he keeps improving but keeps it a little quiet. 3rd would be gold but at this rate 2nd is looking likely.

I hate this bidding process. Only starts when the dees actually have some players to choose from. Look at how well geelong did with father sons.

They won those 3 grand finals on the back of half there team being father and son picks.

Wasn't Garry Ablet Jr pick 50 or something?

seems to be firming into a solid second rounder which is what we will end up paying for him.

Nowhere in that article does it say he was BOG.

Based on the report, Pickett or Johansen would get that jersey.

SA: Stretch, Hamilton, Durdin, Press, Wigg, Neal-Bullen, Johansen

You said BOG. Where does it say he was BOG?

Go back and edit your post. It's factually incorrect, and not even based on any information other than what you've picked up from reading a single report. It's not as if you were at the game.

First mentioned in the list of best players is generally accepted as that sides best player.

Given SA won HH has also assumed he was BOG.

Reasonably fair assumption I would think.

It was their luck that resulted in a change to the rules.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
