Just think ,if his father failed to take a short step back in Sept '87,this kid would never have been born.

If the kid can gain us 100 metres every time he gets the ball we shall forgive but never forget the perceived flaw in his DNA.

Not sure that saving yourself from Alan Stoneham type injuries, inflicted by a thug, is a DNA flaw.

Most smart footballers of today would act in the same way and be praised for it.

Billy Stretch will be a welcome acquisition next year but, from my understanding (chatting to Steven Stretch's sister 10 months ago) there is still significant work for him to be up to speed. Certainly, I'm a little surprised that he will be part of the AIS but this is pleasing, I would have thought. If we don't hype the hell out of the kid he really should be a second or third rounder IMO.

Do you and Steven go to the same solarium RTG.

It has been commented upon elsewhere that you rarely see the sun.

Steven got the odd ray but he never seemed to tan up.

Unless he saw Dippa with his elbows out.

Since then young Billy has performed well at both u18 level and reserves footy in the SANFL, significant enough to be highly rated by many. He's going to be ok

I've often thought sunshine overrated Biffen. His sister is of similar skin type to Steven and yet Billy could have been sired by David Rodan.

Not sure whether its been mentioned but Knightmare on BF has him at 9 for his 2014 power rankings. Billy Kicked 3 goals in one of the Reserves finals for Glenelg - hopefully plays seniors next year. Played forward and wing. Hopefully will improve next year and be ranked around mid first round which means we will get him 2nd round.

If we make it out of the bottom 6 we will have to take him with our first pick atm. But anything lower we should be alright. Helps when the other bottom teams are crying out for a big forward (and there are so many in this draft) and he's a mid for us though.

Rodan was playing for Richmond back then RTG but this is a family thread so we shall not speculate.

Forget about the romance. Based on his size I doubt that we would take him unless he was available in the second round at best.

If he's any good. Club should commit now. Start getting him ready

.....as you say, if he's any good. I'm sure the club will asses him carefully, and rank him where he fits into our needs and who else is available.....then make their call without emotion.

If my memory serves me correctly, Marc Murphy turned his back on Bris as a F/S to go in the draft to Carlton (and a big paper bag stuffed with $ no doubt). Has anyone else done this?

Didn't one of the Jarmans refuse to come and play for us after we drafted him? Stayed in SA with a promise to from Adelaide that they would pick him up was the story I heard.

His father told me recently Billy's goal for 2014 is to play 'a' senior SANFL game next year.

Didn't pursue it as I'm sure he gets enough questions from strangers.

Seems a fair way off to me, but more to do with size than abilty.

And the grand final 88 - eww.

But all is forgiven !

28. Darcy Moore (Coll - F/S VIC KPF/Ruck)

I see Collingwood have Darcy Moore as a F/S. Would we also have any claim on him, despite him only playing 77 games and winning a Brownlow whilst with Melbourne?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
