Excited about CHappy, I mean Tappy

KC -I respect your views and furthermore your reports. However, I really believe you can spot talent when it comes along. You think Tapscott will be a beauty. I watched him in the Under 18 Carnival last year and thought the same. A huge pre season next year- and I think he will be a star- will rival Scully, Watts & Trengove- your comments please.

Fantastic result for the Scorps! Against the odds, that consolidates our spot in the Top 4.

That young Buckley kid for Collingwood sounds like a goer, maybe we should trade for him?

Tapscott has a developed build much like Daniel Rich had last year

That hip injury just delayed his progress as he still has his build advantage

I have no doubt Tapscott will be a good half foward flanker and how good time will tell

For those who think we will have no forwardline in the next few years i suggest the following players might change your mind

Bate

Tapscott

Watts

Sylvia

Jurrah

Fitzpatrick

Wonaemearri

Davey

Green

Bennell

Pettard

Jetta

Hughes

Might be hard getting a game in our forward line shortly

That`s great to hear. Lining himself up nicely for a taste of AFL footy in the next 2 to 3 weeks. Gee, ya gotta feel for Cheney. He just keeps on getting in the best in the 2`s, I just can`t see a spot for him in the 22 poor fella!

It's always going to be hard to assess players when they play at this level but if any day was a good test for a young kid then it was today because there were quite a few experience Collingwood players running around Victoria Park. It's still a hard ask to suggest that he's on the same level as Scully and Trengove (or even Jordie McKenzie who has been blitzing for the Demons) but in view of the fact that Tappy has had not much a pre season to talk of and today played only his fourth game since coming back from hip surgery (one of them in the reserves), he has been mighty impressive. He's hard at the ball, kicks long and has great composure. I think he will fit in well with the senior group when his time comes.

Would be brilliant to give him the Jack Grimes treatment and reward him with a Round 22 game for getting through his rehab.

Just a small taste of what is expected of him in the future, to get him excited and up and about for pre-season. I'm excited!

I've been thinking the same - can we squeeze Tapscott and Blease in for a game before season's end so they get a taste of what it takes?

But at whose expense?

How the hell is Trengove, Moloney or Junior going to squeeze back into the side?

What about Grimes, Cheney, Bate, Strauss, Jetta and Gysberts?

What a great problem to have.

I think David King after the game at the MCG mentioned Tapscott as one to watch and waiting in the wings to have a game in the "Seniors"

Awesome wins all round.

I am thrilled to see that Big Stef worked his way into the game for the reserves. He's obviously been struggling, so to get his name into the BOG list in his first hitout after a break is a great result. I still have high hopes for the lad.

Can anyone really see Casey winning this game against a Collingwood side chock full of experienced AFL players and with the Scorps down to possibly 8 MFC players through injuries?

Yeah I reckon we're a good shot. I predict a win of about 4 goals, and to top it off nicely I reckon the Dees will win by about 12 goals on the same day!

I would love to see Tapscott in the side before the end of the year, he must have been devastated when he went down with the injury especially having to watch his mate play in most of the games this year. I reckon he will be a very good player for us and was rapt when we got him, I thought he would be snapped up by Port or the Crows, how good will it be if he fires and they are left with egg on their faces.

Sam Blease will be a little way off I reckon, I doubt he will play this year in the ones, no reason to risk him.

JAMES MCDONALD OUTGUNS MAGPIE STARS

Melbourne captain James McDonald made a successful return from a hamstring injury that has dogged him for seven weeks, albeit a little rusty by his own admission.

McDonald, 33, declared he wanted to play on next season but said a decision wouldn't be made until the end of the year.

The 246-game veteran amassed 24 disposals and kicked a crunch goal from 45m in the final term to halt Collingwood's momentum.

I reckon there's a spot for Tapscott before the end of the year. Blease no chance though.

If he puts in 2 more solid games, I'd love to bring him in for the Hawks match. They are a physical team, this boy loooooooooooooves the physical stuff.

Regardless of the next 2 weeks, the Hawks match could be a belter and hopefully not a belting!

Give Tapscott a home state debut, round 21 against the Power

Could have merit, should the coins fall the right way. Still needs to be earnt, but seems he's doing that anyway !!

A taste could be very beneficial prior to the preseason. Sew a seed in his mind as to what its really all about. Somethig for him to aim for.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
