Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

The Andrew Moore Thread (2009-15)

I would've thought for a player consistently compared to ROK we'd at least consider him.

Here's an article from the AFL website for a starter - http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...76/default.aspx

He's rated roughly around our picks 11 and 18... so why has he barely been mentioned? Any reason I'm missing?

Surely he fits the bill if a lot of people are considering a player like Talia?

Personally I'd prefer Griffiths at 18 anyway, but Moore surely has to come up for consideration.

Might be because he might be considered to fall in between picks 11 and 18. Apart from Essendon's pick 10, Burgan intimated as much. Perhaps some of the focus has been on a KPF at pick 11 as well. But you raise a fair point Keyser. Being a utility could be another factor.

Our weaknesses: -

1/Pacey, skillful midfielders or no recognised elite players ie. Poor midfield

2/Forwardline

Talia and Moore are different types of player so I dont understand the comparison. 11's too early 18's likely too late appears a jack of all trades who would not fit any of our actual needs. A pass for mine.

Re: Talia I was thinking a kid that can play up forward but is more at home in the backline.

Nothing much beyond that.

That's going to be a problem..or hurdle of sorts regarding a few players we might like to grab..either a tad early for that particular player..of not the preferred choice and simply gone come next chance. HT might be closer to the mark in him being an allrounder type...and we probably have a shopping cart of those at the club already. More looking at potential key players for 11 and 18..well my thinking .

He has the pedigree though and will in all likelyhood be a long term assett to which ever club he goes.

I think High Tower may be right, in that he's could well be a mid to late first round pick that didn't stand out mid year but just went about his game without fanfare. It's been well spoken that there's the top 8 picks or so then an even spread. I've heard of him many times but never went to study him because it seemed he'd be gone between our 2nd pick & 3rd pick, but now we have pick 11. Too late to watch him live, only can read reports or maybe find a video.

He's an interesting prospect.

Funny that Talia has played most of his footy as a forward, but because Vic Metro played him CHB, he's now virtually locked in as a back who can play forward rather than a forward who can play back.

FAST FORWARD TO 2015 ...

As per the middle of the attached article, http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-09-18/trade-whispers-the-inside-word-on-the-players-looking-for-a-move

Andrew Moore is going to explore his options this offseason.

I hope we're all over him. 189cm midfielder/utility that fits our needs big time! Coming off a very strong SANFL season, and unlike Melksham, I can see Moore in our 22. I'm told he was a Melbourne supporter as a kid also which may help us in convincing him to come to Melbourne.

Reckon we could get him for Grimes by slotting into the Dixon to Power trade.

Port send Pick 10 to Gold Coast & Moore to us

We send Grimes to Gold Coast.

Gold Coast send Dixon to Port

Thoughts?

You are suggesting we trade a former Captain and regular in our 22, for a bloke who can't get a game with his club.

Do you actually watch any of these players or you just start a thread on every single delisted player that we should chase

He is a diabolical kick and decision maker.

Grimes was hardly a regular in the first half of the year when we had a healthy squad to choose from. I'd be wary of Moore though, often fringe players at good sides are fringe players for a reason.

Grimes wont be at Melbourne next year.

Really? Actually said that seriously to you in a conversation or did you hear a couple of words perhaps taken out of context in a cafe? Find that hard to believe given the tight lipped nature of our club since Roos took over. If you are correct, well done. If not, you will be called out for being foolish. Bookmark it Danno!

First part of the conversation was:

"Don't worry fellas, the soft (See You Next Tuesdays) wont be there next year"

Followed by

"Grimey's to concerned about his super coach points".

So I did the maths from that comment.

Quite right MW - IIRC, Andrew Moore was ' mentioned in dispatches at the same time last year.

To the surprise of many, he was retained on Port's list but I don't think he made any significant inroads towards becoming even in their best 25, let alone their best 22.

Just because he can't get a game at Port doesn't necessarily mean that he will be the next Josh Kennedy if he switches clubs.

Wow, I'm kinda disappointed that a member of the coaching staff would speak so unprofessionally about players and also talk so loosely about player movements in the weeks before trade period.

OR

I'm kind of dubious that a member of the coaching staff would speak so unprofessionally / loosely etc... and this is making me doubt the post.

Ah well, I guess we will find out in the end.

Having worked in the industry before, I wouldn't put it past a coaching member to say that in public. Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

Most would, rightly, assume it's unlikely anyone in the vicinity would know or care what they're talking about.

I have also had the opinion that Grimes is concerned about his SC points, or rather racking up touches to increase his value, to our club or others, but not necessarily sticking to the gameplan.

Only in the last year or so as he has appeared on shaky ground though.

Looks like textbook self-preservation tactics.

Anyone watch the footy these days. Andrew Moore helps MFC like Vandenburg, Harmes etc. Competitive. Tough. Mature body. Good skills. Would be a handy addition.

We can steal him in swap for say MFC pick 45 (3rd rounder). He is behind a strong midfield at Port.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
