Does this strengthen our position in getting Burgoyne?

Thats the first thing I thought of too 45h. Most likely it does. I wonder if this has anything to with there being no announcement from the Burgoyne camp yet concerning his preferred club. Probably not, but maybe.

In one mind, Im sad to see Brock go. Couldnt help but like the guy. But at the same time I think we've made out very well. Pick 11 for McLean is a good deal in my mind. Was having a beer with my Carlton mate this afternoon and we discussed the then rumour. He said he would be disappointed if the Blues gave up pick 11 for McLean. The question we discussed was simply: If Brock McLean version 2009 (all things considered, injuries, pre-season etc) was in the upcoming draft, at what pick would he be drafted? Top 10? Im thinking no.

Well, even more reason now to get excited about the draft. That is, if we dont offload the pick before then in a trade.

Mixed feelings about this. Mixed feelings.

Have agreed with the sentiment that having Jones boy, Brent and Brock was one too many.

Carlton fans will know they are getting a bloke who will give it his all, we don't have the assurance that the bloke we draft will do the same, but lets hope.

Thanks Brock for you love of our club, I am baffled by your decision but know you've done it with the best of intentions.

Onward and upward Dees. This will bring with it more short term pain, but we're pretty tough I reckon. Another year of what we've just had on the way I reckon. Prepared to back those at the club that we will draft well.

Go Dees !!!

Well that's one of the 2% of rumours that comes true. I think we should congratulate all concerned on consumating the deal without the usual argy bargy that goes on at trade time. It sounds very much like a win-win situation for both clubs.

Personally, I feel sad for Brocky who I once considered an absolute certainty for the role of Melbourne's next premiership captain.

I'm actually fine with this.

Never been a fan of Brock. It's interesting that people thought he was in real captaincy contention and he has chosen to leave the club.

Agreed

has become very injury prone, would like to see how he is going to go with more games at the dome, harder ground

Apparently Ratten got in his ear earlier in the year and told him to come over

gotta weigh up everything here

now we get pick 1, 2, 11, 19 .. 4 in the top 20 in the last uncompromised draft .. 66% of our list are 22 or younger .. this is just strategic moving for the future

tom skulley is replacing mclean perfectly

and to be honest now that monoley and jones as stepped up im happy to trade mclean for a new prospect

so they say we lost our future captian.. did he leave because we didnt want to give it to him? will tom sculley now get 5 or 31?

Whoever signed off on this deal in club is a fool, never have a felt so diflated and upset as a Melbourne supporter you have let this happen far too easily, I have defended DB and BP up to now but this is just a disgrace.

As for Judas, I hope you break both your legs and never play again.

I am fuming, this club has gone to [censored] in the way it has tried to attract and or keep players and the treatment of them, robbo, woey, ox all shunted

mclean who bled for this club is going, we are supposedly trying to build a new culture and all I see is more failures, I am fcuking so angry, and the fact he will be wearing a fcuking carlton top next year is just too fcuking much, this club needs to have a good hard look at itself where we keep [censored] players and trade those who have a bit of passion for the place.

If they want me to re sign next year they better give me a fcuking good explanation on why they could not keep Mclean and what lengths they went to.

Good and succesful clubs keep their players, we are ending up like port. Except they can win a flag every now and then.

I wonder if they will use pick 11 and 18 to get Burgoyne across the line? Or maybe pick 11 plus a player it certainly gives us some extra chips to put on the table.

stuff Burgoyne, unless port want pick 18, picks 1, 2 and 11 .... rebuild complete

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
