Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What's interesting is that it appears as if it was HIS decision:

'Brock McLean said “I have come to the decision that the best thing for my football career is to move on from Melbourne. While it has been an extremely tough decision as I have given the Club my all, I am confident it is the right one for both parties.”'

If this is really the truth, I wonder what prompted him to come to this decision??

Hardly the end of the world, though it's frustrating that players we wish to keep want to leave.

When you say "we" do you mean the MFC or you.

It may be the case that Brock was offered a lot more than we would pay and that the pick offered was seen as necessary to get a certain type of player needed more than Brock.

It probably also makes two mids for 1 & 2 a certainty. 11 will get us a tall forward. 18 might even get us another like Everitt.

It's really important that we find out the reasons for it. I am concerned that for a bloke like Brock it wouldn't only be about $$$.

Complete dog and Pick 11 better be a good player. I'm actually fuming. Can't wait to see Moloney clean him up when we verse Carlton next, and coincidently I have mounted a strong case for Beamer to be our next skipper.

i wonder why he requested a trade.

not cut at all. he was too slow and he will fit right in there at carlton in their midfield, hes a good fit for them.

to be honest brock for pick 11 isnt too bad.

would love to know why, and how much he is earning now, but i think its better for our club in the long run anyway

There are plenty or murmurings about Nick Stevens retiring, so that could be where Brock's pay packet is coming from.

Mixed feelings about this. Mixed feelings.

Have agreed with the sentiment that having Jones boy, Brent and Brock was one too many.

Carlton fans will know they are getting a bloke who will give it his all, we don't have the assurance that the bloke we draft will do the same, but lets hope.

Thanks Brock for you love of our club, I am baffled by your decision but know you've done it with the best of intentions.

Onward and upward Dees. This will bring with it more short term pain, but we're pretty tough I reckon. Another year of what we've just had on the way I reckon. Prepared to back those at the club that we will draft well.

Go Dees !!!

Given that the manager of list management said that it was "dissapointing" to lose Mclean, and was evidently in the process of trying to re-sign him, it would seem evident that we, the MFC, were trying to keep him.

When he made the decision, we then had to get the best we could.

Interesting that in a market where relatively few players are traded, so many are ending up at Carlton...

I'm not saying we would have flat out rejected a trade but I don't think we were looking for one. Brock probably didn't like that we're offering only two year contracts.

Makes some sense wanting to go to Carlton.

He played his best football when Ratten was our Midfield coach.

Oh well its happening, might as well move forward but lets trade to someone else for a lower pick.

Pick 11 is about as good as we will get for McLean. Talia here we come.

Once again assuming that this is all true...

It could be that he simply sees the writing on the wall and thinks he will struggle to get games. Many of us have been stumped by the problem of trying to fit all of our midfielders into the side over the next few years. Perhaps he's been doing the same thing and wondering which of our young guys is going to take his spot.

You have been a favourite of mine since your very first game and I have fought to defend you in the face of criticism, but Brock, you have just completely and utterly lost me with this decision.

If it was club driven, fine, but if you are chasing the money then you can just [censored] the hell off.

Clubs are bigger than individuals, but losing my two favourite players in one season is hard, especially when one of them is going to play for Carlton! FFS!

When are the AFL going to investigate this corrupt organisation? Why are some clubs allowed to operate outside the rules?

I hate football right now :(

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
