All of you Dunn haters

I've always said that he has something to offer our football club, yet most people on this site wanted him delisted at the end of the year for no apparent reason. Once again, i've shown you all up and he has shown that he deserves another contract.

Its called opportunity fellas, you cant play good footy unless you are given it.

While he has been impressive I still don't know where he will fit in at the club as part of the future? Still see him as trade bait. Especially if Melbourne decide to draft Butcher with pick 2.

Probably one of the more enlightened views regarding Dunn . Arguments aside as to his form/ability etc etc . its more where does he now fit in.

With possible Forward setups including the likes of Wonna, Petterd, Sylvia, Maric, Watts, Jurrah , Bate, Martin ( or Butcher ) what position is left for Dunny ? hes only really suited to FF or CHF and commands neither position with gusto..

On the wing perhaps ...... but there are better.

There are three of the truly dumb arguments you have festered here. And there are indeed more..

Your post is not complete without the old "a player who is 192cm tall won't make it, and Grimes and Morton can't kick".

If it wasn't for the hilarious OP, I would be inclined to agree that Dunn has actually stepped up over the past 3 weeks. I never had any issues with his skills, but his lack of courage. However he has stood a lot taller in recent times and has not ducked his head when I was expecting him to. If he can learn to get his hands on the ball more often, he may have a future because his decision making and kicking skills are both very very good, and he sure loves a goal.

That bit of anger that he showed yesterday when pinged for pushing his opponent in the back, and the fact that he's been willing to instigate physical contact (not something I would normally encourage), shows that perhaps the penny finally has dropped that you can't hide from your own shadow on a footy field.

Of course because of how ludicrous that OP was, I'm just gonna laugh at the stupidity instead

Is Freak the new breed of YzeMagic?

As we move into this next era for the MFC, seems Freak has become the new crazed poster on here lol.

Bring on 2010!

Freak isn't funny though.

I've always thought that he was a bit timid about being hit on the head, which was correct, but hopeful that he'll overcome this issue. I feel confident that he's on the way to getting past this issue.

His attributes of speed & endurance, plus kicking ability, are very handy to our team makeup & I would like to keep him on, to continue his developement. No hate about it.

My thoughts exactly. The questions marks over his courage, esp in marking contests, were rightly justified. I'm one of the accused "haters", and even though he's improved these last couple of games, he's far from proven in my eyes, yet.

On the right track though...

Enforcer25, i can see many paralells between he and Pettifer. Let's hope for our sake that that comparison is one that doesn't eventuate.

I tell you what, if Freak doesn't stop these narcissistic threads, I am going to pay someone $50 to go through every one of his 1400 posts to prove that he has been one the most misguided people on here...

Please can someone just do it anyway? Just find all his psychotic quotes and post them on one thread, would be a great read.

amateurs incapable of listening.

Addressing the incorrect statements:

A 192cm wont ever make it : I never said that, I said that being 192cm will drop your name down the draft order as recruiters(and myself) see it as not an ideal height

Newton doesn't have flaws: i never said that either, i said he was better than Miller and by a long way. I still believe he is.

You can't improve your footskills: I didn't say this either, I said you can't improve your footskills 'dramatically'. Jones, Bate, Bartram, Morton etc have not improved their kicking since day 1..apart from perhaps Jones. Nevertheless all are pretty bad kicks. Richo never improved, either has buddy. Some players improve, but some don't, and some even get worse.

If someone can actually present a semi-decent argument as to why i'm wrong on any of these points, then i'd be glad to hear. But just keep in mind that it was some of you posters that have said things like:

'Moloney, Brock, Sylvia, Jones will be the next Black, Voss, Lappin, Power'

'Chris Johnson is the next Dal Santo'

'Daniel Bell has great awareness its just his decision making that lets him down'

'Miller should be captain'

'Watts should debut for Melbourne' (when he clearly wasn't ready..i've been to every casey/casey reserves game)

'

'

I'm still waiting for you to explain how Morton is a 'pretty bad kick' and why Grimes has a 'flawed kicking action'.

Also, Miller has already achieved more than Newton ever will at AFL level. Besides, according to you Miller is a terrible footballer, so saying that Newton is better than him is like me saying that Buckley's skills are better than Godfrey's. Wow!

Dunn can either be an onballer or a key position forward...

Dunn has never been given a fair go by the club. Whenever he gets consistent game time he performs...

It's not his fault Bails dislikes him, he is a gun player and I think we'd be stupid not to sign the fella up for 3 years...Hell we did for Bell and he's shocking at least Dunn has clean skills!

Only two months ago you said......

If Watts can get a game after 22 soft touches in the vfl then newton should get promoted after taking 5 contested marks a week, 18 or so touches and several goals a week. Not to mention his chasing and tackling. I still maintain he is a 50+ goal a year forward. Has no flaws. His kicking isnt even a flaw..its a great asset of his that simply is a bit out of form.

You did say Newton had no flaws and you have raved incessantly about his skills on other threads.

Want to squirm some more Freak??

You can't improve your footskills: I didn't say this either, I said you can't improve your footskills 'dramatically'.

Regardless, of the word "dramatically", you are still wrong and were proven wrong at the time. I gave you three players at the time you made the comment (eg Robbo and Loewe) who had dramatically improved their kicking over their career. Another absolute statement echoing profound naivety

At best you're a pseudo intellectual weasel with no substance behind an oversized ego and a severely undersized understanding of the game.

Is everyone forgetting Freaks call about Garry Ablett Jr.? He's a good player because he has a body shape that is hard to tackle! HA HA!

And before the weasel denies another clanger.

Ablett is simply good because his body shape is impossible to tackle.

In fact the whole thread is series of clanger for our both feet in mouth expert.....

I've been one of those voices who have virtually writing him off, but I must admit his recent performances have been just what the team needs, a priority pick.

I'm not sure I agree with you, but nicely written all the same.

I had always rated petterd as our best youngster (and so far he has shown he is very close to that) when people were saying that if we lost him to the gold coast he was no big loss :S.

I wouldn't be bragging about that one.

Petterd's been handy but I don't think he's cemented a spot in our best 18.

Btw, say 'hi' to Grimes, Jurrah, Garland, Frawley etc.

'Daniel Bell has great awareness its just his decision making that lets him down'

Jaded, were you responsible for this chestunt? :P

'Watts should debut for Melbourne' (when he clearly wasn't ready..i've been to every casey/casey reserves game)

So whats your point? You're saying he shouldn't have debuted? You mean, cos he didn't dominate?

You think he won't learn from the experience, that it wasn't valuable for him?

Oh... i get it, we would've won those games if he didn't play, I see...

Does that also mean McNamara and Bail shouldn't have debuted last round?

That jetta and Bennell shouldn't have played their first couple of games because they had little impact?

Grimes shouldn't have played the last game of last season, because it obviously affected his development?

Keep them coming sherlock...

This is debatable, though I would say that he has improved since coming back into the team.

This is not true. Well, the 'once again' isn't.

Phew!

Hey Rhino, why don't you really say what you think of him.

Beats me how you people can have the time to read all this rubbish. Does Centrelink operate as an internet cafe?

I agree with Freak re Dunn. Problem is however, that based upon some comments by Connolly who was speaking on the ABC before Saturday's game, [W.B v W.C] the club regards Dunn as a defensive tagger ala Cameron Ling. With his goal-kicking skills I hope he gets more opporrtunity in a decent team to run forwrd

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
