Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For the sake of 'list management':

Brent Moloney (groin) – 1 week

Brock McLean (knee) – season

Jordie McKenize (calf) – in for Davey (flu)

Liam Jurrah (ankle) – 1 week

Jack Grimes (hip) – 1 week

Stefan Martin (calf) – 1 week (Juice in the ruck?)

With the exception of Davey, I reckon all of those would be completely legitimate list management reasons anyway, even if you ignore the horrid T word. When you're not in the hunt for finals there is absolutely no point in giving players any less than the maximum amount of rest possible, especially the chronically injured such as McLean, Moloney and Grimes.

I wonder who will be the late out? The last couple of weeks we've had someone pull out at the last min. I hope It's Davey.

Out- Davey, Whelan, Bennel, Grimes

In- Sylvia, Mckenzie, Buckley, Bail, Mcnamara

I didnt include Morton but dont see how we can keep him out with the flu for two weeks.

I really need Moloney and Jamar back in for SC...

Sylvia and Morton in for Bennell and Whelan.

With this backline - Johnson (he ain't good enough in the ruck, at FF, at CHF), Jetta (learn to man-up someone), Macca (let kids play in the guts), Cheney (keep going, you're doing great), Rivers (give the others some level of cogency), Morton (key defense post), and Sylvia (QB role).

And this midfield - Dunn, Bate and Miller (for freedom purposes), Spencer and Martin (rucking), Valenti, Grimes and Petterd (for a majority of CB's). All rotating through and Sylvia and Davey making sporadic appearances.

And this forward line - Warnock and Frawley (to continue to give them a break from our backline), Jones (to learn to kick properly forward of centre), Bruce (get him out of the center so the kids can play there), Batram (more strings? A string), Newton (put it on his head), and Davey (people always complain he is not a FP anymore...).

As much as I would curse it, if we won at least it would be on the back of JG, RP, JS and the motley crue that is that forward line.

The rush of soft-tissue injuries - calf, groin, quad - could be a concern, these injuries should be avoidable and it may mean we haven't got it right as far as preparation is concerned. On the other hand, it may just mean that some players are getting genuinely tired after a gruelling season.

It also seems to be coming out one by one about players who have battled OP, we only hear about it when they beat this injury & come good - we heard about Petterd this week, and we know about Sylvia, who else?

Seriously though, it would be a major concern of these avoidable types of injuries continued to be seen so often next year. Part of the reason for St Kilda's success this year is that they've virtually wiped out these injuries altogether.

Thats 20 players on our injury list, including Rookies and Veterans isn't the list only 44, that means we have 24 fit players, which includes Zomer and Hughes that are none elevated rookies and Bail that has played 1 game of VFL reserves in 4 weeks.

It's now official.

Whelan (plantar fascia) has been outed with every possible injury south of the jaw - it's also got to be one of the most specific listings of an injury I've seen.

Our secret weapon at FB?

I don't think we'll waste our money elevating anymore rookies for the sake of a couple of games.

There is still Bail and Buckley available for this week, and Robbo... although I don't want him out there trying to prove to us he can still go, kicking a bag against a weaker opponent. No thank you!

What happens if we don't have enough players to field a team?

A few teams have gone close in the past but no one has had that problem.

Hawkers fielded some Box Hill players in preseason, could Silvagni get a game and take our kick ins?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
