Whats everyone think of Warnock possibly playing up forward?

If my memory serves me right, he has had a go up forward before yeah?

I don't think so, but i have a feeling he might have been a forward as a junior perhaps?

Could be a bit of fun for him, and a hard earned change for ol 'nock. Lord knows he deserves it. Warnock the Rock.

Swap him around and send Newton to FB, and there'll be some real interest in what's nothing more than another dead-rubber.

Tanktics at it's supreme best!

It seems that Mark Jamar is taking the whole 'player' title very seriously :D

Haha imagine if it was really him

I'm pretty sure it is! Who else could provide insightful tweets like 'just took the dog for a walk, well, he dragged me on my skateboard'

Keep up the good work Jonesey

Is he calling Jamar or the girl a horse head?

I don't have facebook and never will, and I don't even know what twitter is, except I gather it's a way of communicating to people what you're up to.

Why would I give a stuff what someone's up to ?

I have very young boys, but already I tell them not to put anyone on a pedestal. The hero worshipping that goes on with regards to 'celebrities', etc, is pathetic. And I hate that term 'celebrity'. Why are they celebrated ?

Then again, I accept I'm probably unusual in this regard.

While I personally don't get concepts like twitter they do seem to be what floats the new generations boat (a key demographic that we need to reach out to) and on that basis its a good initiative for the MFC

This new twitter craze has seen Phil Hughes land in hot water for 'twitting' to his followers/friends of his non-selection in the national team 12 hours before the side was named to play England in last nights Test.

I've noticed Nathan Jones twit that Matthew Warnock could be played up forward having been given a stint up forward at training.

Could it be this new technology craze has an "apt name" for twits?

There is only one reason why Jones won't tank and that's because he wouldn't get a game if we recruited Scully.

After 2007 (2nd in B&F) I would've laughed at you.

But the last 2 years I can't see what he actually offers the club going fwd. His kicking has turned deplorable. He plays the odd good game but I can't see a future for Jones if we recruit 2 top shelf mids. I'd rather Moloney and McLean than Jones.

I think you will find IF we can recruit two gun midfielders and they turn out to be the skilful A grade mids we are hoping, they will make the likes of McLean and Jones much better players as they will be more free to play their role.

If Scully and Trengrove come into our midfield, as well as Sylvias continued development, this will free up Jones to be a clearance player who gets it out to these more skillful players and he wont be relied on so heavily to be the one delivering the ball into 50 ect. In addition he wont be getting tagged when we have these more dominant players. Also he will have the opportunity to play as a defensive midfielder, with Scully and Trengrove to be the skillful attacking players, Jones can replace a bartam/Dunn player and be the runwith player only he will be a lot more damaging than dunn or bartram. All of a sudden our midfield starts to look a lot better!

Nathan Jones has got to stop giving out our gameplan before the game!

His kicking was pretty good yesterday, and some games he has played this year he has hit many of his targets. In others he rarely hits a target.

For mine it's not a skill issue. He takes the game on in all facets attemtting to run the lines (when he should dish) and hit low percentage targets. He just needs to temper that a little bit.

I still think that Jones will be part of the beating heart of the midfield.

Thats what I said earlier in this thread. Like Phil Hughes of the Australian test team he should be told!

I agree, one of his passes to a leading forward late in the game was awesome.

Yeah, there was a very nice kick from the centre out towards the MCC stand.

I've said it once, and i'll say it again. I think Jones will be our next generation version of Junior, he is a tireless worker and i think he's really improved his awareness and kicking. And he's always good value when he kicks a goal, shows off the guns!

Perhaps this 'tweet' from Jones could be used by Bailey as subterfuge to protect his plans; Matty Warnock has been preparing during training for stints in the forward line...

As we know, this wasn't a tanking move yeaterday, it's actually something the club's been putting some preparation into. It was such a good move that it almost won us the game. Mark it down as one for early next season in a game that we really need to win.

And Jones' disposal was surprisingly good too. So has he been tanking for the past few weeks but changed his mind this game? Or has he been doing some hard work on the worst aspect of his game while the club's supposed to have been tanking?

If we're really tanking, then we're doing it all wrong.

If your tongue is not in your cheek, I would like to know what you think tanking is?

Matty Warnock and Frawley forward was tanking, just because it may have some tangible benefits is a moot point - we were trying to minimise our chances of winning.

Take comfort in the fact that the tactics of tanking have been used by Bailey since Rd 1 2008 - Garland and Weetra playing when they shouldn't have. There is a litany of other tactics that Bailey has tried with players over the 40 weeks and I listed them in another thread (can't be stuffed regurgitating now).

Someone with a Twitter account ask him how he and the players feel about absolutely busting a gut to win, knowing that your own match committee are putting every possible road block in the way.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
