Tom Hawkins

Would anyone be intrested in trading for him with our second round pick? get 2 mids with first two picks and a forward and our depth is looking good. In saying this the jury is out on whether the tomahawk is bona fide footballer.

Why would Geelong let him go? Why would any club advance the premiership prospects of another? The bugger can't kick anyway.

The jury is out on whether Geelong even want to contemplate not keeping him?

What makes you think this?

Let me guess, you listened to SEN earlier at a disgruntled supporter, saying Hawkins should go, because he did nothing against StKilda?

Am I right? ;)

no I didn't but there are no KPP players that look good this year and I am trying to find a way to get one that is half decent. Cats may get rid of him if they think that their first round pick from last year (brown) is up to it, the raps on him are good before he broke his leg.

Yet we seem to be the only team he plays well against.

Not really, even in the game where he got five most people's grannies could have kicked three of them.

He is a first-order spud and has failed to produce despite numerous opportunities and concessions.

Ok. At the moment Hawkins isn't even half decent.

Here are a few that are half decent, but are they worth pursuing or would the opposition clubs let them even go?: -

Josh Hill

Mitchell Clark

Barry Hall

Sean Rusling

Hawkins need to get fitter. Can't beat defenders with workrate. Doesn't exactly have pace to burn oppostion, can't monster kids as everyone's just as strong in the AFL, hands aren't the great, kicking worse then Newton's.

Geelong's at a stage where they just have to persist with him. He won't be worth a cracker.

Josh Hill's not a KPP. Nice leap and hands. Jurrah like.

Mitch Clark's a goodie. Think his WA so not much go home factor. Lions have invested heavily in him and will be asking for Pick 1 and 2. Won't even do it for pick 2.

Hall's done. Mentally shot. NO.

Rusling. Physically shot. Big NO.

We're going to be digging around in the dumpster if we're looking for an experienced forward. No team is going to part with a forward without mental/physical problems for peanuts. We have very little to offer that we can afford to give away. Trading the kids or draft picks is counter-productive at this point. Without digging into our youth or picks from the first three rounds, you're looking at your Adam Campbell types. We already have forwards who aren't AFL standard and I don't see the point in adding to that stockpile. Continue to put the development into Watts, Jurrah and Martin thanks. We're at least 2 years away from finals, we should build the forwardline through the draft and our internal development.

Hill Would be nice but we have no chance

Clark would be very nice but we also have no chance

Hall is an interesting one. Would easily be in our best 22 for probably 2 years. Has his issues but seems to be well liked by his teammates and is probably a good bloke off the field. I could definately see Watts and Morton and probably a few others walking a little taller with him around. If we could get him for nothing i'd certainly consider it.

Rusling would be a definate for me. Has awesome pace which could make us very difficult to match up on combined with our other quick forwards. If he gets his body right could be an excellent player and if he doesn't he is still as useful as Newton and not much worse than Dunn.

If Geelong were willing! Yes I would trade Pick 18 for him without a doubt.

He hasnt set the comp on fire but he is young, definitely has the potential and is a monster of a lad. Give him a new environment to improve his game and I think you will see great improvement. Make Full Forward his own at the Dee's woud be fantastic but doubt that would happen!

hawkins only chance to make it is if he gets angry. he needs to bully players around, push, pull and muscle. if he wants to last he needs to use his bulk, find some aggression and dominate using his strengths. he isn't built like reiwoldt so nobody should expect him to play like that.

Hawkins is a dud. NO WAY. It trade for Clark and Hill though. Rusling is worse than Rivers when it comes to injury and Hall is too old and won't be around when our next chance to play finals comes around.

Spot on!!

How can anyone struggle in a team like Geelong? It is a bit of a worry when you can't get a kick in a team like geelong, especially in the forward line.

Hall would be interesting, gives the young players a go too as when he gets rubbed out every now and then, the young guys get to step up for a week or two (or more). He has a decent workrate on field too which would be good for some of the kids to learn. Only be worth a punt if he comes for nothing and is willing to get almost minimum wage. Costs of him though are probably a bit much.

A problem is if he gets frustrated playing for Sydney, with our current disposal into the forward line, he could end up killing someone on-field!

Of those, if you are going to ask for Josh Hill, may has well have a shot at Higgins. Unfortunately with both - no chance.

Mitch Clark was a top 10 draft pick a few years ago and I think Brisbane are more than happy with him.

No interest in Hall, and if Rusling is any chance of recovering from his injuries, he'll stay at Collingwood. More of a mid-sized forward anyway.

Depending on the strength of the draft, Hawkins for our second round pick would be well worth considering. Still not yet 21 for 197cm key forward.

big no for me, interested in matt mcquire, cant get into saints side at all and very talented

The question there would be whether he can play forward. Was tried in that role a bit for Sandringham earlier in the season but I'm not sure of how successfully.

I think his closing speed is a bit of a concern for a key defender - excellent contested mark however.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
