Hope that is the new logo, i like it! Very classy.

I'm not a fan.

I don't mind the idea of having two logos, one the more traditional (this one) and another more fearsome Demon. The idea being that the Demon is the team logo (i.e. the logo used in the newspaper) and the traditional one is used for the club (administration type things).

Either that or I'm just over-analysing it all.

Got an email from the club today in response to a membership enquiry, and attached to the email was the file 'new_logo':

new_logo21.jpg

Is this a sign of things to come, or is this an old logo?

Gee, might be me but this could be the logo that ties us in with the MCC?

classy but its all about attracting kids and this wont do the trick

jim stynes wouldnt want this to be our logo and im pretty sure it isnt

but like CB said, it would be good to be used more often

Looks pretty good. Can you blow it up so I can see it in big?

I'll try. Probably not though.

Yeah I think from the way Jimmy's been going about it so far, this isn't the kind of thing I would expect from him. That's not to say I don't like it, because I do, I just don't think this will end up being our logo.

I should just remind people that this was accidently (I believe) sent to me by the club, and might not represent anything at all.

Did you have any qualms about putting it up here? :P

To be honest, I thought about it a bit before I did it, but I figured, if it was top-secret or something, then it definitely wouldn't have been sent to me. At first I thought it might have been an old logo from the 50s or something (I wouldn't know) which is why I asked if anyone had seen it before. I guess it's probably just an unofficial logo of the club.

Not bad.

The "Founded 1858" part goes some way to stating who we are but this can be added to as follows:

"Australia's Oldest Footvball Club - Founded 1858"

or even better:

"Australia's First Footvball Club - Founded 1858"

or better again if it is true and if we can prove it (I know it is debatable)

"THe oldest Football Club in the World - Founded 1858"

Was exactly my first thought. He we ae showing our "home "..as it was. Why show the MCG unless its meant to figure in some way. Will be curious now to see the 'away" jumper as obviously the MFC logo has found favour.

Anyone else see the irony in that we ought to have had this logo at the beginning of our sesquicentenial year..not the end !!

And yet the clubs moves even further along some chartered path !! ;)

If you thought they sent a private in house attachment by mistake, then why would you not clear it with our club before making it public?

That is a very cool logo. I like it. Forward we move with our heritage proudly shown.

I have been informed by the club that this logo is an old logo. Why it is called 'new_logo' we won't know, but according to the club, this is an old logo which we can 'disregard'.

Because the rather unimaginative designer called the file 'new_logo' because it was 'new' when it was created back in 1993.

Far too much attention has been devoted to what is obviously a throwaway heritage logo.

I like the logo, regardless of whether its a throwaway logo, corporate logo.

What I meant was, there is just far too much going on in the logo for it to be an everyday brand logo.

Its the sorta thing they could put at the bottom of an email or at different places on the website just to change things up a bit. Maybe use it on a letterhead for special occasions.

But its definitely not the sort of thing you've find on a demons polo shirt or the like.

It looks very classy...

And since when does the logo matter when it comes to attracting kids?!

Collingwood has a very boring old style one that they haven't changed for ten years.

Kids like flair and personality, and wins, not flashy logos.

Give the kids some credit.

Personally I can't say I'm a big fan of it. I think it looks dull and lifeless, and should be something the club stays away from, as they themselves said they want to get rid of the Melbourne's 'Collins St' image. However in saying that I can see that it is not an official logo, just personally it just doesn't float my boat....

Can't believe I didn't notice this earlier, but it's the logo used on the playing cards sold at the shop!

I've seen it many times, and often remark how attractive it looks on my cards! Though it's all gold on the cards.

How silly of me

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
