Bell as a Forward???

Great defensive pressure, good speed, very poor peripheral (but as a forward has less chance of being caught from behind).

I feel we have a few backs coming through, that show more promise, and he's decision making/lack of peripheral will mean he cant play midfield. He could find a niche though as a negating forward.

Could he play as a Mitch Hahn type? Has a strong body and doesnt mind the tough stuff. Give him a go I reckon.

Has he ever shown any inclination towards the sharp end ?? I dont recall this.

He doesnt even convincce me he has a permanent spot in defence let alone as a forward.

Yes some backs can make forwards.... but id be very suprised if he's in that group

I don't think he will play much senior footy next year, and we will then look to trade at seasons end.

Not sure what his contractual status is but we should be putting him up for trade and see what his value is. If there isn't much interest then keep him but l can't see him as the long term answer in any position.

Hasn't Bailey mentioned a move into the midfield for Bell in 2009 if he can lift his fitness?

I always worry when we play St Kilda that he and Kosi might run into each other and neither of them have any idea what happend

That's my point, has very little trade value and others have gone past him as a defender.

Find him a new role as he has been treading water as a defender for the past 2-3 years. Has a good size and good pace.

I don't think Bell as a forward holds much merit. He just isn't good enough in any position. When you're not in the best 22 of the Melbourne 2008 team, you just aren't good enough to play AFL.

Bell is not exactly getting a ringing endorsement on this thread...his lack of peripheral vision prevents him from sighting the carrots in the fruit & veg section in the supermarket. Therefore his Vitamin D intake which is a necessity for good vision is lacking.

Do you think he could find the goals in a tight contested situation somewhere within the forward 50m arc AT AFL LEVEL? This is not the U18 Championships....

Bell has no vision. He has committment in spades, and fearlessness in the contest. The Mitch Hahn analogy has merit in my opinion.

Chance for a trade, but not a delist. He is worth more than pick 51 and the next few years might be his saving grace as the drafts become squeezed for talent.

I'd try him on a forward flank as others overtake him on a back flank.

That is, of course, if he's still at the club...

I'd prefer to see Whelan there before Bell. He's the best tackler in the team has good vision, talent and he is hard as nails everything Bell isn't. Bell should be traded.
