Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Gaff has been offered six million over seven years by a Victorian club (not us) with lots of cash. Contract would be substantially front loaded.

A number of Victorian clubs are right into Jeremy McGovern as well. Don't know if we are one of them.

Only NM would be stupid enough to do that. 7 years would take him to 33-34, he won’t have his pace and run at that age I don’t think. Didn’t impress me last night but that’s the first time I’ve seen him this year.

hah, I am glad to hear that !

I can understand carltoon and gaff.

The game is about to reduce rotations,,, and space will open up, so gut-run, and 'speed',,,  will both be in demand.

We have some gut-run,  but barely any speed.   We need much more of it, in & around the middle,  and half back.

Dion Johnston is a keeper, at this time.  IF he can learn to develop at the defensive end;  he might have a future there,  but also, if he can find his mojo down back;  he may yet find he can play around the middle.?

Thanks for the answer. Eagles will be fuming.

They can match the offer put forward by the rival club which could force a trade or the player going into the draft. I don’t think any team has matched an offer since the introduction of free agency though.

As to the above, it's sometimes hard to separate opinion and mail on here with the uninformed but definitive statement style some posters lean towards - can you please make clear? As to the below - mods, can we also please pin somehow?

Adelaide matched on Dangerfield, which is why a trade was done.

I don't think they actually matched, just that they threatened to certainly match it (as that would have then tied Dangerfield to stay with the crows on an identical contract, to my understanding).

However I am aware that the AFL plays it pretty free and loose with the rules in these situations.

I think it was actually part of Dangerfields requests when it happened that Geelong looked after Adelaide IIRC

Norf I'm guessing.

He's 26. Are they really prepared to pay him big money at 33? Probably front loaded so he gets $350k in years 6 and 7.

Goodness me, this bloke is a jet and will contribute to our side amazingly.

Today he was absolutely pivotal in so much of the Eagles play.

We desperately need a player of Gaff’s qualities and skills.

Go and get Gaff.

Yep GO GET HIM! I cannot believe posters on this site being in any way reticent. He is a superstar, something we lack!

He hasn't managed a West Coast B&F or a high finish at the Brownlow, so superstar may be a slight overreach on your part

Those against Gaff coming to Melbourne are not being reticent, expressing opinion openly

Anyone who doesn't think Gaff should be our main priority does not understand football. We have the inside ball winners covered, we lack outside run at times and this guy is one of the best. Plus anyone saying he isn't a competitor, he's averaging the most in his career so has improved in this area.

We should be in the box seat as we can still offer a bit of cash but have the potential success card up our sleeves. Carlton, Saints and even North can't provide that.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
