Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm not. Not a chance in hell we are interested. Roos, Goody and PJ are all about building the right culture. As if we want a player who has threatened the culture of a premiership winning side.

Maybe a club like the Swans or hawks whose culture is long established and rock solid might consider taking the risk (or some boneheaded club who is desperate) but not a club like us whose culture in the formative stage.

I agree.  The media are normally pretty correct in reporting on who is interested in who, and we've not been mentioned in the slightest about having any interest in Stringer at all.  It's all Bombers and Cats with a few other Vic clubs thrown in here and there.

We aren't part of this at all.  If we're up to our eyeballs in anything, then it's getting Jake Lever to the club.

Roos, Goody, PJ and most importantly Macca are all about being prepared to back yourself. What Jake needs most of all right now we have in spades.

Has threatened the culture of a premiership winning side - that is very funny.

Lever is a done deal has been for quite a few weeks now. You can get more than one player in a trade period. Stringer might have just fallen in our lap AKA Lewis last year.

Why do they want to offload him, then?  He has gone against the culture of the club through his preparation, his willingness to work hard to get over injuries and other off field issues.

The Dogs feel as though he doesn't fit their culture, hence why they are being so open about offloading him.

For the record, I'd be happy to have him at the right price and plonk him inside our forward 50 with Hogan, but it's pretty clear we have little interest.

Convenient you left out the clear fact that we have not been linked to him at all.  I'd say we have little to no interest in him.

We can agree to disagree.

Convenient I left out the clear fact we are no push over these days at the trade table when the player commits to us and we dont negotiate via the media unlike what the Dogs have done - but then again they have little choice. Its all just part of the circus.

But can we be certain that his attitude has not been shaped by the way the club might be treating him?  Irreconcilable differences may be a simple as clashes of personality which can in turn affect how each party responds to the other.

careful now...not seriously suggesting there's two sides to a story now ??

There's a lot about this we don't really know. A lot of rumours/fb-facts as they were etc.

Puppies coming a little undone at the seams.

Same could be said for  Rockliff and Bears...but Tommy isn't quite so out of favour ??

About all we can surmise is he ( JS) is most definitely out of favour at the Western Oval.  He'll go for a song ( relatively ) ..a good song but certainly no-one likely to pay overs for a cast-out.

As others suggest we have folk on-board who ought to know this bloke to a point. If the club want to look at him, all fine by me ( probably a great relief to the footy dept that!! lol )

Anyone who's been within an elbow of a footy club will tell you they ALL have stories, they all have their little dramas playing out. Hell some clubs have been known to have cliques !! True !!!

Stringer's certainly plssed off a few woofers.  Is he any good at sport...you know...like...oh...umm...Footy perhaps ??  just wondering

Is it? How come we had multiple players break team rules and go drinking mid season and subsequently get banned from an AFL call up?  Should all of Kennedy, JKH, Kent and Spencer be moved on then? Do we move Bernie and Salem on for getting suspended multiple times this year also? Do we move Bugg on for all his ridiculous shenanigans this year where he became the very definition of a [censored]?
The club talks the talk with a no [censored] policy, but doesn't walk the walk yet IMO.

Stringer would be a good pick up at the right price. Would not pay pick 10 for him as the Dogs don't hold much leverage by announcing they want to trade him due to attitude problems. If we could get him for a second round pick or a second round pick and a depth player like Kent or Harmes type then I'd do the deal and back the club to snap him into shape.

Yes it is.

It refers to not recruiting d-kheads, not sacking every player on the list who gets reported or commits a misdemeanour.

If that was the case we would have half a list left.

Players are punished for their misdemeanours not automatically sacked as you suggest.

There is also a difference between an isolated misdemeanour and a habitual d-ckhead.

Exactly. And in fact the examples LT lists if stupid behaviour are powerful arguments to not even consider a player whose current club could not have made it any clearer has significant behavioural issues.

Talk about letting a fox into the henhouse.

As cooney said it is unheard of what the doggies are doing with stringer.

Someone above compares getting lewis to the opportunity of getting stringer. Please. We got lewus because of his leadership. Because as all dees fans we desperately need more leaders. Not less.

Funny you should ask nothing to the media  - He absolutely loves the kid and was prepared previously to back Stringer and himself when nobody else was - now they are facts.

We are up to our eyeballs in this. But the decision is up to Jake - he must do his due diligence and speak with everyone - at the young age of 23 he has two kids and an ex-partner to support.

But I bet you one thing - Jake Stringer will be on an AFL list in 2018.

Well I thought I'd ask as you seem to know.

Jake is doing "his" DD?! Can he get free entry and drink cards at Tramp?

(Hip with the young kids)

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
