Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

More I think about it .. the more I wouldn't mind this scenario. Goody most likely will want to emulate the small pressure forward blueprint .. and a forward line of Rohan, Garlett and Hannan would be a good mix. All can take a mark, great goal sense and can lay a tackle. – Pending we get Lever, TMac & Hogan forward, with those 3 blokes at their feet makes for a pretty exciting forward set up.

I've always rated Rohan and would love to see him in the red and the blue.

That said, I'd thought the knock on him was his lack of defensive pressure.

While it is highly  what happens if Watts comes back to the club tells the Football Department to take a long jump of a short pier and under no circumstance will he be traded while under contract. Does anyone know if a player has taken such a stance before ?

interesting

seems like he doesn't want to get out of his comfort zone and that living in Melbourne is a priority over footballing opportunity.

Yet we're salivating about the prospect of getting a young required player from a club that just played in a Grand Final because he wants to live in MLB. Fair dinkum.

You are either showing your age or your emotional maturity - no player has copped more than Jack Watts on this board or with MFC fans.

So double standards are ok in going after a young kid? Complete hypocrisy from @jumbo returns who has been one of the most vocal in jumping down the throats of anyone who has criticised Watts at one time or another.

A close family friend of Jack told me the main reason he went to Adelaide was to see his good friend Tom Lynch and that he is a fair chance to stay at the Dees

In the lead-up to the GF??

Seems unlikely and pretty illogical to be fair.

Not here to defend jumbo. Don't like it when history gets rewritten. End of story.

Listening to Healy OTC tonight speak about Watts leaving. Implied that it's not a given and that he still might decide to stick around.

Wonder what discussions if any he's had with Jones considering they're buddies..

I hope Goodwin watches the OTC interview with Hardwick.

Everyone talks about Richmond's defensive pressure and intensity around the contest, but a key component to the Tigers' success, in Hardwick's words, has been about creating a safe and happy environment for the players and 'believing and investing in your people'.

Hardwick quite consciously decided not to micro-manage the life out of everything this year - and looked what happened.

As I've stated previously, I am very impressed with Goodwin and think he will be an excellent long term coach for us. But everyone has blind spots, and most first year coaches seem to take some time to know when to loosen the grip on everything. Goodwin might still be in this zone a little.

Ron, this idea that you appear to have around Goodwin is based off his decision to finally move on Watts for the benefit of player and club.

In my opinion (and I know we're all at different levels on this) it should be considered as gutsy and with a clear understanding of the situation.

Goodwin's CV is impeccable.

Watts is not.

The knock on him is he just doesn't stand up in the big games...

He's a no for me.

I really rate Goodwin. And his CV. He's an asset to this club.

But decisions like this can have some seriously negative and unintended consequences for the club, and I really hope any decision to move Watts on is not in this bucket.

That is the knock on him and it seems borne out in this years finals series, however he does have speed which we lack and he is a big body. Not the worst idea.

Most recent example would be Hamish Harlett last year.  Off the top of my head I can think of Brayshaw and Rischitelli from Brisbane who were offered up for Fevola. Both left BL after their contracts ended for close to 0 on their own terms.

I would think not.

He has not always made the best decisions, hopefully that is behind him now and he has good council to assist.

I'm basing it off his career thus far.

You appear to be basing it off one year as senior Coach of the MFC with some perceived poor decisions?

I feel Watts will announce today that he is staying at the Melbourne football club.

If he does, it needs to be a galvanising moment for him and he'd need to come out firing in 2018. Otherwise he'd certainly be gone at the end of next season you would think.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
