  1. Take a bow tmac, I had you in a retirement home and you just destroyed the "best" player in the comp.

  2. Despite dominating for large parts of the match and not making the most of their forward opportunities the Demons ground out a hard fought win and claimed a massive scalp in defeating the Cats by 8 points at the MCG.

  4. Happy to get the 4 points but if we play like that against Geelong they’ll beat us by 5+ goals!

  5. Nothing typifies Langdon more than his goal in the 3rd quarter last night. Spends pretty much the whole night running up and down the Southern wing and bobs up on the Members half forward flank near the boundary line and calmly slots it from 50. That’s our Ed.

  13. Yes she absolutely does, and all the time she gives back to the club and Demonland is done free of charge and in her spare time. This is up there with the complaint we had about the podcast. Just get on with your life if you don't like the FREE content you are being provided. Also @WalkingCivilWar has said many many times before that reporting on the ins and outs of training and specifics is not her forte, and that she is there to provide some light hearted commentary and any inside intel she may get from the players. Last week she told us Bowser will play against Carlton, which was a scoop, and turned out to be spot on. Why people are now complaining about the content of her training reports, is beyond me. I love a detailed training report as much as the next person, but equally I love the insights and funny anecdotes that we get as well. There is room for both.

  15. Thought I’d post this cracking behind the goals image of our defensive wall stopping the ball coming out of our forward 50. Good luck getting it out of there with 5 defenders in a wall as the first line and then May and Lever supporting line. Looks like the footy version of some ancient Roman battle formation.

  17. Imagine the nerve of people complaining about someone providing them with free info from training that they took time out of their own lives to do. This is not @WalkingCivilWar job, she’s doing it for fun and to give something back to Demonland. If you don’t like the content of the thread, don’t read it. I swear Demonland has become a collective for complaining.

  18. Simon Goodwin best on ground. He absolutely smashed Chris Scott. We clearly did our homework and put together an appropriate plan of attack. Tight game, but start to finish it was on our terms.

  20. HUUUGE night for a certain 17yo girl who’ll be sitting in the cheer squad in between Pauline Fritsch and me at tonight’s game. Jade has cerebral palsy, she communicates by typing on her iPad, has a feeding tube, walks in a slow, laboured way, and is a massive Dees fan, absolutely adores 31, as she refers to him. We’ve taken her to AFLW matches without incident but until now we weren’t sure if she was ready for a men’s match. Pauline and I have been planning for the perfect opportunity since early last year and tonight’s the night! She doesn’t know she’s going. We’re not telling her until just before the match. She will absolutely lose her mind! 🥰 So if you see a diminutive girl with an away jumper with 31 on the back in the cheer squad… that’s Jade. ❤️💙 PS: Jade was told she needed braces. She got them last week and what colour braces did she choose? Red and blue (of course)!

  24. Great call. I have heard 3 media people call Scott the best tactician in the game this week. And many people, including some dees fans, think goody wouldnt know a tactical innovation if it knocked on his door and introduced itself. And what is even more surreal tonight wont change those people's mind. Strange looking game structurally.

  25. The Roar article and to some extent the guardian articles as well listed earlier in this thread banged on about how boring the game was for the first three quarters. I may be a bit biased but I found the whole contest quite riveting. It was a wonderful arm wrestle all night. It wasn't just boring stoic defence from us. The cats got out on numerous occasions but our defence was frenetic on scrambling back to stop them. I find that really entertaining to watch. 14 behinds in a row, not as much but I think that reflected the pressure of the game on both sides. I loved every minute of it, not just the last quarter.

  32. My perspective after last week and this is: what we do against lowly teams don’t matter. Against Richmond, or Hawthorn, or whoever else, as long as we get the 4 points, nothing else matters. These are the games that matter. Beating the other top teams matter. We’re a contender in 2024 and we ARE good enough to win it. Love these Dees.

  36. That goal was NOT a fluke. I saw his eyes looking at the spot on the field where he intended the ball to land and where it did indeed land. Of course the unique shape of the ball means there always is an element of luck involved - Fritta said as much about the final two bounces before it went through - but that goal was by design. Incidentally, you know you’re alive when that goal happens while you’re sitting next to his mum. 😂

  37. The media will replay the goal all week. Internally at the team reviews this spoil will be the one replayed over and over. Match winning stuff from Petty. If that mark sticks they are out with another Geelong player running through the corridor. Petty wasn't in the best position but read the play and worked to get to that spot to spoil. HUGE

  38. Personally I loved watching Scott have a post-game sulk. Can't help thinking that Geelong fans must really, really hate us by now. I mean... really. We 'stole' their minor premiership, humiliated (Correction: abjectly humiliated) them in a preliminary final, and even plinked them out of the 2018 finals, and now we've busted their winning streak and possibly their whole fragile momentum. And on every occasion it was flu or some other tragedy. Can it please also be us who have finally cracked their shell of invulnerability and ended their era?

  39. May kicked the ball like the real Steve May for the first time in 3 years. Petty with a proper chf game, he can absolutely do it. Great games out of Langdon and Windsor Plenty to like and a proper tough win

  40. Absolutely agree. Not enough credit to Goody & co for that win. Although Geelong got heaps of flow on play through half back and wing, most of it hit our stone wall and rebounded back out. The use of Langdon & Windsor out wide made Geelong spread uncomfortably in defending, along with our repeated 15-20 metre kicks. Great method and coaching. I think they subbed Laurie in too late, but apart from that, all good.

  47. How good is Fritter’s body work. Very few in the league with his smarts as to where to be, but also how to use his body which is particularly significant given he’s not a big guy. Amazing forward. Given credit for sure, but largely unheralded.

  48. Wow. Gut wrenching last quarter. Thank you Jeremy. Max - you led us to victory. Lever - the rock. Petty - welcome back Langdon - you can have a rest now. Fritsch - how the hell you were never drafted at 18yo, I will never know. You are simply brilliant.
