  1. I was down there for an hour. Talked to Salem about what moisturising cream he uses, told me it's Palmolive and he let me rub some on his arm. Going to be a big year for him. Also took the time to speak to Dom Tyson, asked him what underwear he is wearing, he laughed about it and was a good sport by posing for pictures in just his underwear. I think he wears Bonds but I got a little dizzy. Big Maxy Gawn was looking the goods too now he has lost the beard, I was interested in what he used to shave it off but he didn't tell me. I asked 5 other trainers about it but they all gave me different answers, so just leave it alone please. I also spoke to Nathan Jones and asked him where he lived so I could visit his new baby. When he got angry I pretended to be joking but don't worry fellas, I'll get it in time. Got the little one a present for Xmas so I'll speak to him on Wednesday. Everyone else ran the 2km trial round the tan in 20 seconds, everyone looking absolutely sensational! Photos on my twitter @justtakingthepissdon'tgetallhuffysaty

  2. Yes he was, had a chat, nothing to see here. Hogan's heroes so to speak, Johno Brown and Nick Riewoldt, he tries to model himself on them, so you may get your wish. Actually chatted to him about his daughter, promised to stick a picture up this afternoon. This was very amusing by the way, one day I intend reading it Other news, Max Gawn got through the whole session again unscathed, Yes Howie has a tattoo that looks remarkably like my former self, which he pointed out Again Watts has had an issue with his groin, so they are being ultra cautious, did about 40k on the Wattbike today, said it is progressing as it should, so there is no issue, think he is trying to shed the cleanskin issue a bit, some of the language today was colourful to say the leas The runs they were doing first up were 1km time trials, Hogan did them is just over 3 minutes, he was seriously pumped today, so was Dawes, they did a jumping high five after a kicking drill which would probably break a normal persons arm Spoke to Aaron Vandenberg, he is enjoying every second,, asked him which was better working at the Mint or working here, he is on a weekly program, has been told there is no pressure, not even sure when he will bee back in full training, has been told just to follow the program Myself and Christian Salem think if Arsenal beat Liverpool (actually Christian is sure they will) then Brendan Rodgers will be sacked, for all the soccer followers out there, was walking back to AAMI with him and Jack Viney (who said he had no idea about soccer), Christian reckons Jack would be the perfect Millwall supporter from the 80's Anything else I think of will follow, pics will be on Twitter Demonpk

  3. Hard to ignore the urge to go to training when it's 26 degrees with nice cool breeze in the air. Really good crowd here at Goschs with a good 30-40 (maybe been around 50 before I left) people seeing a exhausting and top notch training session Watts, Reily, Vandenburg (?), Spencer were rehabbing. Anyone know what's wrong with Watts? (pardon the pun) Sure enough, Trengove was still on his scooter whatchamacallit. Terlich rode the exercise bike with Watts joining him later in the session. Started with some laps around Gosch's - Hogan and TMac leading their respective groups (quite comfortably I might add) - next two groups start running. Hunt(?) and Dawes leading these groups - noticed young Harmes shouting some encouragement. Love seeing that in a young player. Grimes also among the usual suspects providing encouragment. Seemed to very vocal today. Appeared to be mainly a running session with the boys doing another couple Laps begin again - Hogan destroyed the running again in his group with McKenzie and Neal Bullen coming a good 3-4 seconds behind him - Hunt again leading his group. In fact annihilating it. - Brayshaw edged out Dawes to claim first in his group. Obvious that Petracca still needs to build a tank (although I noticed he had a bandage on his leg). Was trailing behind Brayshaw before slipping to second last next time they came around me. Exhaustion ensued Some harmless kick to kick action followed. The boys had a few shots on goal. Spencer attempted to have a few shots from the boundary line. Good luck with that buddy Next on the agenda was some match simulation. - Brayshaw picked up a goal from a nice piece of ball movement. - Still the odd shank of the ball. Hey, I guess it's pre season. - King picked up a little spray from coach Miller - Jamar played forward for most of the time. Wouldn't mind him doing that more often this season with guys like Gawn and Spencer pushing for the key ruck position. - Viney was roving the ball beautifully - Newton looked pretty impressive, kicked a couple goals and overall used the ball well. Hogan was practicing his set shots. Looks a lot better than I remember seeing 2-3 weeks ago. Seemed to be kicking them from everywhere. I left pretty soon after. No Toump or Dunny at training either. A reminder to that the boys will be moving training to Casey Fields in January next year due to the Asian Cup. So catch them at Goschs while you can.

  5. Why isn't Dank being charged with administering drugs not available for human consumption?Does he actually have a licence for anything? What does the TGA do? What about the compounding pharmacist? Does he compound drugs for anyone that asks? Can anyone take him vials of stuff bought from China and have him compound into a form that can be administered? The whole scenario is shonky and everyone in it as far as I am concerned should be cited. Charter, Alavi, Dank, Reid, Hird.... Its bloody amazing that this thing hasn't been stomped on by the federal govt.

  6. I talk to his dad all the time at the football and there is no chance Nathan will leave the club.

  7. I am quite excited by Hogan and these reports. I kept thinking about having a monster forward but with his running ability - A monster with Nick Reiwoldt athleticism ? Lordy....

  8. There are some miserable sods on this forum. What would life be without some hope and expectation? I personally love Satys training reports and his positivity. Leave him alone to keep doing what he does.

  11. The most important posts that occur during the off season are absolutely the training reports, particularly Saty's. For those of you who don't agree, go muck around on some other app and stop criticising those who take their time to update us on what's going on during these sessions.

  13. Because it will seriously do your head in ..... Fickle is now my middle name - I love all the players passionately. One of the players decides he likes another club better..whooshka...I don't love them anymore. It's that easy..

  14. I don't disagree with you what I was suggesting was that he had not said those words. My experience has been when someone says " I want to remain a one club player " then you know that are off. So far Jones has not said those words.

  18. I hate to build on the hype but Hogan was so impressive, he killed his group in the running and worked his butt off in the drills. Tyson also stood out and is moving really well, others that impressed me were Brayshaw, Newton & Garlett.

  20. thats the point what many suppose might be the best ...wont be ,for all those reasons. Any assembly of team sheets is crystal balling if done now. Im simply suggesting some tempering and adjustment is required back to the real world...and it's effects.

  21. I would never ever question grimes now that he is giving away the captaincy he is a really good football player if he just spends time on nothing but his own game. He is a very driven young man that will IMO lift his game in 2015

  22. Surely this one should be far easier than dealing with the others. This bloke has a string of Blueys , led the club and surely has red and blue pumping through his veins. If the difference between bid and offer is $50k per season, or if its simply an extra season that's the issue, then I cant imagine closure wouldn't be sooner rather than later. If the ask is something silly like $750k for 6 years, then there's work to do, but I would like to think Jonesy and the club could get this one sorted pretty easily. Would be a great boost for everyone to begin the season.

  23. I agree that no one player in our side is irreplaceable but the above ? really ? When our club has been at it's lowest depth Jones has busted a gut week in and week out - I was skeptical about Jones leadership qualities but if you think his on field leadership is average ,well I am just not sure what you expect.

  24. The hero worshipping true believers on this site are living in fantasy land. These guys are career footballers, so it wouldn't worry Nathan Jones in the slightest which colours he pulls on after next year, be they Melbourne, Geelong or Hawthorn. It is no longer a supporter's competition, it is a return-to-investors=from-media-rights sting.. I just hope that soccer swamps good old aussie rules before the two-poos win their twentieth premiership.

  26. I don't think Rivers was weak minded. Given what the MFC was when he made his decision and what he had contributed to the club he was entitled to move. Frawley is a different matter but how well have we done from his decision? Christian Petracca!!!

  27. Sausages without the bread mmmmm - Paleo Cos otherwise the players will spike there insulin too much and have too much energy for training hard. Don't stress though, I'll be carbed up for all of those training reports.

  28. A bit of a fluff piece article this, but a good read nonetheless. He certainly seems to be loving the footy club. There was one sentence in their though, that has me lost for words for how lucky we are to have Dom Tyson. 'He did not miss a beat for the rest of the season, showing toughness to play 22 games after suffering a finger tendon injury in round nine. He even resisted an offer to finish his season early, when surgeons suggested he have a season ending-operation on his finger after round 18. After checking there was no risk he would do extra damage, Tyson said thanks but no thanks, preferring to play every game, proving to himself as much as others his resilience.' This is the exact type of player we've needed. The season was over, there was little to play for but he wanted to press on for the jumper. I really liked him before, but this reinforces how much a terrific player he is. We didn't just trade in a good footballer, we traded in a good person. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-12-14/tysons-wobbly-start-with-dees

  33. Riley and Michie at times looked okay, but most of the time they looked well off the pace I thought. If Grimes played midfield, I'd be very, very surprised if he was behind them. Newton I can't comment on as I've never seen him. I'm really hoping Toumpas pulls way ahead of the lot.

  34. Surely the Grimes in the midfield experiment is done and dusted. Regardless of what he did as a youngster, he was diabolical. If he can rediscover his early career form then there is still a spot for him in the backline. His game against Adelaide this season needs to be his benchmark.

  35. I think you could put up an argument for having two predicted sides: the best on exposed form and the other adding speculated talent, as yet unproved. Therefore Petracca and Brayshaw for example, go into the second side.

  37. If I was running the ASADA case, I would open by stating that I will present a large body of evidence (albeit mainly circumstantial) which should prove to the tribunal's comfortable satisfaction that the 34 players ingested a banned substance TB4. I would then make the point that the onus is on the players to provide a plausible alternative as to what occurred at their club in 2011/12 and ask where is the evidence and where are the witnesses? Where are the records of what the players were given? Where are the people who ran the programme, supplied the material billed to the club? Where is the chemist who compounded that material? Where are Dank? Robinson? Charter? Hamilton and Alavi? What steps did the players and their representatives take to ensure their appearance at the tribunal to give evidence to provide a plausible alternative explanation as to the substances with which they were injected? I would ask why, if as they claim they were given vitamins, are all these people so eager to hide what was inherently such an innocent project? If the best the players' counsel can come up with is that there's no evidence in the absence of Charter and Alavi (incidentally, both have very good reasons why they should not appear - and you can add Dank et al to that), then I suggest he has some homework to do over the weekend. If those friends of yours were referring to our mate David Grace QC, then he should pack some warm clothes for his forthcoming trip to Switzerland.

  38. The Casey recruiting spree continues with exciting 22-year-old Dingley speedster Luke Walmsley (189cm, 70kg) coming on board at the Scorpions. Walmsley was the runaway winner (by 7 votes) of this year's Ellis Medal for the Best and Fairest player in the Southern Football League Division One and was also his team's best player in this year's grand final loss to East Brighton. The long-striding, athletic speedster reads the play well and is a great kick was encouraged to move to state league ranks by his coach, former Magpie star Shane Morwood who described him as a "running machine". The explosive Walmsley could be just the player to replace the departing Jake Best.

  39. Frawley is in a different category to Clark and Scully for me. His departure may well turn out to be another blessing, and though his handling of it was poor, I don't blame him for the decison he made. I wouldn't go so far as to say I don't harbour any ill will towards him though, because the sadist in me would love to see him go empty handed at the Hawks, and on top of that have to witness us winning a flag during his playing career. That would be very sweet indeed.
    1 point
  40. I have to say I never thought Frawley would leave the club. It's an indictment on the way this club was run for so long that he did. It's also an indictment on him that he left when it's clear the club has finally got its act together. I don't get this whole search for a premiership medallion for one's CV - surely it's the journey with a club and a group of mates that's more meaningful in the end. That said, everyone's got different priorities and perspectives in life (I say that before rpfc or nutbean come back at me with the obligatory 'there's no loyalty, it's a business' post).

  42. I don't know, we did trade him for a possible future brown low mentalist that we probably wouldn't have pick if we had pick 2 anyways. But that's what the media thinks and they are always right. NOT!!! Dom is awesome, his already better then that guy who left us for GWS, what's his name? I can't remember because he hasn't played a decent game since he left and hasn't lived upto his one million a year price tag. What a Joke that was.

  46. Fair go ... he's a young kid. I can remember one of the first television interviews I saw when I was young. It was of a Melbourne recruit called "Hassa" Mann who was just down from the country and he was barely intelligible. He turned out to be a captain of the club and worked his way into top positions in business and was CEO of the club and a well spoken man. People can learn.
