  1. VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA EPISODE XI “ ZZENON CODEX Admiral Nelson: Leigh, can you come to the bridge I have decoded a message from the pentagon! Capt Crane: On my way! Chip take over the helm. Chip Morton : Aye Aye skip Admiral Nelson: Leigh, I have just unscrambled a code Black call from the pentagon, here read it yourself. “ Dear Harriman, hope you and Seaview crew are well, Harry we have an intelligence report that has uncovered some kind of Alien Cyborg machine that can duplicate people which is in Australia in a Lagoon in Melbourne called Casey Fields. It is called the ZZENON CODEX. Your job is to find and destroy this machine before it replicates all life as we know it. Just think what another 100,000 extra Feral supporters running around would do. The world would be plunged into Armagedon! Intelligence also suggests that a person known to frequent Casey Fields by the name of Picket Fence can be of assistance, he hates anything that relates to ferals and would be a worthy ally! Good luck” Marshal James Pentagon Marshal” Capt Crane: Jeepers Admiral isn’t this more a case for the Star Trek Crew or even Lost in Space? Admiral Nelson: Yes, probably but Fence has already used them in another episode, so it looks light its down to us! Capt Crane: Whats our plan of action!? Admiral Nelson: Simple set a course for Australia and pilot the minisub underneath Port Philip Bay and find this machine and destroy it! Capt Crane: Understand! Chip Capt Crane here, please set a course for these coordinates, oh and Chip, please equip the sub with photon torpedoes and Harpoons apparently there are giant snakes and alligators and maybe the odd Feral Collie’s about! Chip Morton: Harpoons I can do but aren’t Photon Torpedoes for “Star Trek” I’ll have to ask Capt Kirk if that’s ok? Capt Crane: Should be fine as Star Trek ratings were through the roof last week after the Klingons got a fare spanking! Capt. Kirk’s ego will be sky high so he will agree to anything plus he owes me a favor! PICKET FENCE TRAINING REPORT 15/12/2023 NO SHOWS Didn’t notice J.V and Chandler, Bailey Fritsch but they may have been there! INJURIES MODIFIED DUTIES MAX, CLARRY, GUS ( Although he was doing plenty of Running, THOLSTRUP, PETTY ( Who also ran for the first time! SKILLS , DRILLS AND MANOUVERS After warmups and Run Throughs, players broke of into Groups doing a variety of Close in Handball through traffic to hit clean target with players pressuring. One on one Groundhog Day ground ball gets. Telescopic Talls in Marking contest situations Pressure the ball carrier, two meters away closing fast to kick to a lead. Match sims ( See below for details) Half ground transitioning including stoppage work on both boundary side wings and emphasizing manned positioning and quick breakaways using precise handballs to break out of traffic and finding leading player on lead or further handball, chip kicks to favored positions to free up play and present scoring options closer to goal. Red vs Whites, this also had an element of keeping the ball in forward line and using lateral movements and handball before finding a target. So, it was as much about forwards and positioning and defense creating a chess like impenetrable phalanx! PLAYER WATCH AND MATCH SIM TOM SPARROW I mean wow just wow this guy is ready to launch, has confidence picks great options and really will excite through the midfield this year. LACHY HUNTER Has lost weight and dare I say it has picked up a yard of pace, was involved in plenty and looked rejuvenated and classy. JACK BILLINGS, Classy ball user who always hits targets and linked up beautifully today, will play major parts in games. SHANE MC ADAM The missing piece in the forward line puzzle, just oozes class, goal sense and links up magnificently, can also take a hanger and a half KOZZY, Just mesmerizing today total excitement machine SPARGO Yeah righto , he was really good today involved linked up and kicked a few goals and was busy. MONIZ-WAKEFIELD Starting to find his feet was involved in a lot of link ups and used his pace and skills to great effect and could be a surprise early inclusion if he keeps this form up. ADAM TOMLINSON Used his pace to run of the back half and set up many plays. JED ADAMS, I took notice of him a couple of times with great run of Half back and also astute ball use. Looks a player. MARTY HORE Looked right at home of half back, is an intercept king and used the ball to advantage. He could also get an early look in. CHRISTIAN SALEM I’m sure it was him ( remember I’m on the other side of the fence) and he looked really good unhampered by recent injuries and looked fresh, pacey and involved with effortless and crisp disposal. JOSH SHACHE, Took a couple of really good, contested marks and converted effortlessly, I hope he has improved enough to make the difference and looked particularly good today. KYAH FARRIS WHITE Rucked well today and looks like if he develops a bit of mongrel could be a hell of a find. TRENT RIVERS Looks like Mr. Universe with his swagger and relentless attack on the ball. FINAL THOUGHTS T. Mac wasn’t bad in defense and training levels were up from last week I thought. Ball movement was quick , precise and forward entries were purposeful and effective. Given some of the exhilarating and exotic weaves out of defense and forwards moving to effective scoring positions this training session said a lot to me about the increased pace and intent to rectify past deficiencies which have sabotaged our last two years of finals performances. Better get going I er think I’m seeing things Better go to get my eyes checked two people that look uncannily like Admiral Nelson and Capt. Leigh crane are moving towards me! Cheers all at Demonland P.F

  2. Yes to Turner, no to the other two. Seen only flashes of Laurie but there's nothing in him that suggests he is anything more than depth. McAdam is clearly the Melksham replacement. Happy to give Jefferson a game but only if we're playing against a struggling side and need to rest the other talls.

  3. They had plenty to charge Maynard with, they just lacked the motivation to do so.

  4. Every preseason I see Dees players running around Caulfield Park which is a stones throw from the Racecourse. Many of the players live in the surrounding suburbs. It would be massive for the players not to have to drive over an hour to get to training.

  5. And yet we “only” lost by 7 points. The entire team was flat, and in fact scared that their friend and teammate initially might have been dead, and then may have remained comatose, for the remainder of the first quarter. Absolutely and understandably shell shocked. They actually did well to out score what was mooted in the media as the greatest team of the year with 6 goals 11 points to 5.4 for the rest of the match. Even if Angus was not going to have another of his big finals games, he would have inevitably contributed towards at least a couple more goals than did his replacement, and the flat first quarter may have been even a little less flat. But, inevitably, the AFL have yet again squibbed at making a genuine statement, which they will feign as soon as a “lesser player from a lesser club” actually does make accidental contact with an opponent’s head.

  6. Could i jst point out the following : 1. The MRC dont own Caulfield, they lease the facilities from the Trust at a low amount. 2. We are not building a social club nor a practice match or match facility but an elite training and admin facility under the one 'roof'. 3. In the words of Roffey 'we received funding...' - does anyone know from whom? 4. ah bugger I have forgotten 5. My opinoins are not biased by the fact that I live within a 10 minute walk, not at all

  7. Melbourne is now the largest city in Australia. Any land available of the size we need is either way out in the suburbs or nowhere near public transport. Yes, the ideal sitaution would be a home base at the MCG, but it's just not feasible in the real world. IMO Caulfield is a fantastic option. As far as transport goes, obviously Caufield station is right there, 6 stops from Richmond. In the long-term future, a proposal exists for a trackless tram connecting Caulfield to Rowville via Chadstone and Monash Clayton. The first part of the suburban rail loop to open will be the SRL East, which links into the Frankston, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.

  8. Why do people care about the distance from them? By the time we’ve settled on a location and the facility is complete, you’ll be able to just beam yourself directly there.

  9. No rule change required, Maynard should have been suspended. AFL let him off on the "big club/big game" defense. It was a deliberate shirtfront.

  10. The Glen Eira council are useless, trust me. I’ve lived there all my life up until a year ago. Caulfield Park is right around the corner which is very popular with the locals, inside the racecourse though, very few people go there in comparison. The council is simply looking for a payoff to line their own pockets, given its crown land and they don’t get a say on what happens (that’s why you’ve been kept in the dark you fools, as it doesn’t concern you. You should be more concerned about fulfilling your own responsibilities to the citizens of GE).

  11. Agree on the first two, I would like to see a bit more of a Jefferson breakout at Casey before bringing him in. I would prefer to see Fullarton in the forward 50 and providing a chop out for Max.

  12. All local councils have forgotten their true role, collect rubbish, maintain local roads and footpaths, support local businesses and help facilitate the development of necessary infrastructure to support the community.

  16. .....and back. And when you lose two finals matches by a total of 9 points, that could well have been the difference, more so when it is spread across the pre-season and season proper. It adds up to dozens of hours not spent in the gym, physio or on the track that other sides are able to use to prepare their players for the best opportunity.

  17. I think people forget that Melksham's spot was really a make up spot because of other injuries to KPF's If we look at our preferred structure, 2 KPF's and a ruck/forward. ..If BBB is fit then we have 2 spots to fit him JVR and Petty for starters. Plus a lot of pressure on for the small/medium forwards. Interesting 2024 ahead.

  19. Replying to @superfooty and @chriscavanagh1 after reading the Glen Eira council's measured, public statement https://www.gleneira.vic.gov.au/about-council/news/latest-news/melbourne-fc-s-caulfield-racecourse-reserve-feasibility-study https://fc-s-caulfield-racecourse-reserve-feasibility-study it would appear that Chris Cavanagh is seeking to sensationalise, got to give it to the Herald Sun NOT

  20. Basically the Council is concerned that the Dees Administrative & Training base shouldn't come at the expense of locals access to the site and that the council has been kept in the dark about the plans.

  21. The MRC own Sandown where, much like Rosehill*, the land is worth $Billions The MRC are talking about selling off a portion of the land at Sandown** to finance the refurbished Caulfield and what would make sense is the MFC using the funds from the sales of the Bentleigh Club, Leighoak and the pokies for a new training facility at Caulfield The real question is how much it will cost for the club to get into Caulfield. If the numbers are right, we're in (in my view) Later on, we could become partners of sorts with reciprical rights for both clubs etc Other than the cost being possibly too exorbitant, it's exciting times ahead *Rosehill is being sold off for $5Billion and that money will be reinvested into other existing race courses and infrastructure etc **All up, the land at Sandown covers 112 Hectares (or 276 Acres)

  26. Oh yeah I forgot Tomlinson played his career best game on Kings Birthday only for our master mind of a coach to drop him the next week in a bad loss to Geelong. Not as bizarre as dropping the third tall defender for the Collingwood final but still pretty baffling.

  28. 1) Learn how to use the sub 2) Hire a chauffeur In all seriousness Tomlinson deserves first crack at the third defender position. Straight Sets Simon was made to look very silly after he came back into the team and played well after the horrendous decision to drop him after the Collingwood game earlier in the year.

  32. It's so funny how they bandy around the expression, "Will now owe a duty of care"... duty of care already exists in the common law, it's not something the AFL can presume to regulate.

  34. This is my last demonland post. As we all know demonland can be wonderfully addictive! But I've decide to reduce my use of on-line forums, social media and Apps. Can't tell you how much I've enjoyed my time on here over the years. Thanks to everyone for your debate, support, laughs and banter, especially those I've got to know through messenger. Wishing you all the very best. Travel well, demonlanders. To a 2024 Flag 🥂 Cheers, Luci Edit: I've sent a copy of the Contracts Excel worksheet to Andy. If anyone would like to volunteer to continue with it I'm sure he and demonlander's would apperciate it. It is very easy to maintain; it is but a simple table.

  35. The Herald Sun has listed 3 moves the club should make in 2024. What moves do you think the club should make in 2024? MELBOURNE 1. Give Daniel Turner a run as the third tall defender He has managed just the three games over the past two years but it is time to give the man known as ‘Disco’ a run as the third tall. This will free up Harry Petty and allow him to have a 40-plus goal season. 2. Give Bailey Laurie first crack as Jake Melksham’s replacement With Melksham out for most if not all of 2024 with his knee injury, someone needs to step up. After playing five games in 2023, Laurie is ready to have a crack and the Demons need to give him at least 15 games in the role 3. Blood Matt Jefferson up forward The 195cm young key forward is yet to make his debut but the Demons need to refresh their attack and it is time for a forward line of Petty, Jacob van Rooyen and Jefferson.

  36. IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner. However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks. The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown. Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed. We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct. WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT. Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

  38. Yeah maybe but there's a lot of unused land at Caulfield now that horses aren't being trained there And we won't necessarily be dependant on the MRC as we've got our own money and maybe some Govt support (maybe) The key point is that with the redevelopment of Caulfield, there will be Crown land available for pursuits other than racing. The stables and infrastructure for training took up a lot of the area The trainers have taken all their horses up to Cranbourne & Pakenham My gut feeling is that Sandown will be sold off completely (eventually) and that will bring in $Billions to the MRC ... otherwise there might be issues selling off portions of land. Racing NSW had the same prospects with Rosehill until they decided to sell Rosehill off completely (for $5Billion) As for where we would be situated at Caulfield if it came to fruition, I highly doubt that the facility would be in the middle of the racetrack as some might imagine ... more so down the Neerim Rd/Queens Ave end but offices could be situated near Booran Rd or even amongst the existing buildings ... there's a lot of area freed up now that Caulfield isn't a horse training facility

  42. Well, if I was constantly surrounded by Collingwood filth, I'd be constantly and repeatedly checking my door was locked too. Seriously though, how does repeatedly checking your door is locked actually count as OCD? I do that sort of thing, but I'd hardly call it OCD.

  43. I just had channel 7 news on for the first time in a decade. What do I see? The thug coming on to talk about his mysterious illness. I keep the channel on 7 despite my revulsion. The mystery illness he lives with is OCD. He explained his distress at overthinking and needing to repeatedly check he has locked his door. Ok mate, but lets put Angus on and let him explain the ins and outs of his concussion experiences and what he experienced in September because of said thug.

  47. Caulfield is an illusion, planted by the board. An imagination from thirty years ago. Yeh the same board that was going to make a statement within days,(12 months ago) about immediate works to place the club in the MCG precinct. After the AGM and the sing song it will disappear into the MFC never happened basket. The MRC run Sandown, Mornington and Caulfield, and are totally skint, up to their necks in debt. No works will begin at Caulfield until Sandown is sold, the lodgement and approval or otherwise for planning permit should , take five years minimum. It appears to me many loud people pushing the Caulfield dream are associates of the board, it’s all unravelling. After all these years, not one step forward.
