  3. I hate a graph without a legend. To be fair both Max and Jack are legends but what the hell do those bar graphs show?

  4. Considering the lack of training reports today due to the closed session, for those interested, I'm working at the AO at the moment and Big Benny Brown is currently participating in the 'Glam Slam'. It's not much to go on, but he looks to be moving pretty well. Good forehand on the big man.

  5. Was strapped on Wednesday too but I'm not surprised given the proximity to his surgery and other reported incidents involving his thumb/wrist.

  6. So impressive that these two will have such amazing careers after both had to go through the [censored] and also had injury issues to overcome.

  7. That’s lovely by Howes, but the handball back to him was brilliant. Can’t make out the player.

  8. Not there but Trac just put up an instagram story of some of the lads in the changerooms and they look spent. Utterly spent.

  9. Alarm bells started ring inside my head as soon as i started seeing videos of players going at full tilt training 2 weeks after the GF had taken place. Absolutely no down time after the GF to let their bodies and minds relax and unwind after what they had achieved. Players weren't able to go away overseas or interstate due to boarder restrictions to unwind. Completely different to this years preparation in terms of down time as players were able to go on a holiday as the world had opened up again.

  10. In '22 we got too careful with our ball movement. Having no Tommy and a barely mobile Brown led to us being static and unimaginative up forward. Defenders were comfortable instead of panicked. If I can see these things then our coaching panel certainly can. GO DEMONS!

  11. I don't know if he'd get a permanent best 22 spot at any club. I actually think he's fairly serviceable but good clubs won't play him - as they have higher quality players, and rebuilding clubs wouldn't play him either as they'd rather get games in a youngster with higher upside I believe all parties knew he'd be a depth player here, but the difference is at least here he may find himself in the team at the right time due to injuries or otherwise and play finals, something he wouldn't have the opportunity to do at the Saints or Gold Coast/Essendon who were interested in him

  15. Good analysis in my opinion.I also think injuries counted as well.Lever, May-and his suspension, T.Mac, Gawn,Oliver, Petracca, Salem ,Hibberd,B.Brown all contributed to the injury issue during the year whilst I think we failed to play Bedford, Chandler more when ANB & Spargo we’re down on form..

  16. The players were fitter than they had ever been according to club stats. Last year was not a fitness issue The problem stems from them working really hard in pre-season to perform at home. They basically didn't have a break over the summer and never switched off. They were super keen and worked extremely hard over the summer. But they totally cooked mentally half way through the year. Hence the allusion to 'work vs footy balance' in Jan / Feb

  25. The changes are sensible, but still overly finicky. But they need to change more. For a start, the nominating a Ruckman rule is ridiculous; if they really want to stop a third man up, and I don’t really understand why they want to, then you just penalise a team if two people compete at the same ruck contest. And the one that really drives me crazy is the 30 second rule. You are supposed to play on quite quickly around the field but you are given 30 seconds to prepare a shot for goal. Fair enough I suppose. But when the kick is then an attempt to pass to another player – as was once brilliantly exploited by ANB - the team is given another 30 seconds, and that is ridiculous. It should be limited to 1 thirty second allowance per forward 50 entry.

  26. Yes he did try his heart out, particularly in Casey's GF win where i thought he was in our three best players. There were times last year when he must have thought "what more do I have to do to get a game ?". Particularly frustrating when players like Melksham were getting games based on very average form in the 2's. It is important that young emerging players like Chandler see some light at the end of the tunnel and be rewarded for good form at Casey otherwise it sends the wrong message and can have a negative effect on the overall morale of the playing group. It would be great to see players like Chandler, Howes, Disco and Van Rooyen make the transition to senior footy this coming season.

  27. No, you won't need Excel for this quiz. (UNLIKE SOME RECENT ONES I COULD NAME.) It's a lot simpler than that.

  28. Love Richo gives just enough to hold your interest, they obviously understand where and why we fell down in the finals last year, liked the way he hosed down expectations on JVR whilst pumping him up for future. Maybe someone there reads Demonland.!!

  31. This, I went on a bit about this during last season when a few on here were saying Sparrow didn't do enough. At times he had as little as 35mins on the ground for the whole game and his numbers reflected that. The other player who was in the same boat was Harmes. It will be interesting to see if the same occurs this season. A better indication of player performance might be Supercoach points per minute of game time.

  35. Since the VFL became the AFL in 1990, I’d argue we’ve had the second most dominant finals series to date behind Essendon of 2000. Essendon had an aggregate margin of 230 points and never looked in any doubt at any point of that finals series, while we had an aggregate margin of 190 points with just a slight scare in the middle 2 quarters of the GF before dominating. Whilst Geelong’s 2007 side had an aggregate margin of 230 like Essendon (2000), they had an almighty scare against Collingwood in that years prelim and fell over the line by 5 points. My top 5 dominant finals series since 1990: Essendon (2000) Melbourne (2021) Geelong (2007) Richmond (2019) Hawthorn (2008)

  36. Time to put you all out of your misery. The team has been selected on the basis that the jumper numbers of the first two players on each line add up to the jumper number of the third player. eg Frawley (8) plus May (1) equals Johnson (9). I have made numerous allusions to this throughout the thread, with hints such as ADDITIONAL, PLUS, SUMMER, (dim) SUM, NUMBER, PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER, ADD UP and CALCULATED. The photo clue is BlackADDER. Simmonds and Baker were both nicknamed "Snake". A type of snake is the ADDER. Well done to all those who were able to FIGURE it out.

  39. Now that's a cryptic comment, David! He wouldn't want to be next to May, perhaps? We can add @Allus Monk to the list of those who have worked it out. Below is the final clue. My cunning plan is for the solution to be revealed later this morning.

  40. I’m glad the club recognizes how unrealistic that 2021 finals series / season was and how impossible it is to replicate such a perfect dominance. It was a once in a lifetime performance we will never see again, and we need to stop trying to fall into the trap of wanting a repeat of it. lol @ Richo talking about the “websites” talking up JVR 😂
