  1. That Bomber fan near the effects mic is an absolute moron.

  2. I have only saw a little of him playing earlier in the season and it must be hard to determine his value at the draft given a serious injury to each knee, the most recent requiring ACL surgery which will keep him out of action for at least half, if not all, of 2023. He’s likely to be taken in the early to mid 20s. If we really have an eye on him, I’m wondering if a swap of picks 13 and 37 (1695 points) to West Coast for 20 and 26 (1651 points) would be considered? There are no guarantees of course but if George is the player we want, we could still possibly get him at 20 and be in an improved position with our second selection at 26. Just thinking outside the square.

  3. After the Bradtke experiment it's hard to get excited. The funny thing is I thought Bradtke was starting to show green shoots when delisted

  4. That's a much younger me talking to Strawbs O'Dwyer on the ground at the end of the game. Not many Demonlanders can say that they've witnessed Melbourne winning a World Cup.

  5. 1 point off! Not yet! Never forget that she kicked a goal with her first kick in a game of footy during the praccy match against Carlton. I've got high hopes for her to snag one before season's end - and she seems keen to get one. Just got the job done in this one. Frustrating that our one chance against an expansion side came in such conditions though. But flipping that on its head, our percentage is impressive considering that - plus the fact that Essendon is easily the best of the new teams. Way too many kids eating ice creams in the wind turbine of Casey Fields that itself turned into a bit of an ice block after half time. Good choice on the long sleeve jumpers by L.Pearce, Bannan and Sherriff. The preemptive tape on Paxy and Mithen was also a good look. Our intensity at the contest at the start was top notch to start and almost difficult to maintain though they stuck at it. There was some champagne ball movement, as well as some overly ambitious stuff that won't fly against better opposition. Seemed like a few undisciplined acts (or words?) occurred, but I was too far away to see them. My money's on Birch though for at least one of them. Related to that, off-season, after a respectful post-Daisy time, it would be interesting to discuss the options for our next captain. Hanks was everywhere, Paxman breaking lines with abandon, Gillard had some good stops, Heath is a big improver this season (again) and Bannan had the crowd around me super pumped especially early. Great spoil late by Mackin who finds more involvement every week. A few had quiet days (Fitzsimon, Zanker, Goldrick to some extent) but hopefully that keeps us hungry. Looking forward to Lampard's 50th game next week. Well deserved, and hopefully in front of a more Demons-dominated crowd than this week. Get there, Dees fans!

  6. Very solid win. Bombers to their credit stuck at it and didn't make it easy for us Can't see us making up the percentage but you never know. Would be great to get a calm day next Saturday and go hard at the Eagles, who are very ordinary. Pies might keep it close against the Lions but won't beat them.

  8. It would be great if we could watch the girls play at home in Melbourne without a gale blowing. great effort. Would have been a 10 goal win in normal conditions

  9. I was a big Jackson fan, but he departed disgracefully and disrespectfully on many levels, so I feel accordingly towards him now. I never liked Weidemans footy besides seeing a little potential (should have tested him in defense though) but the classy way he just departed, like a real man with fine character, leaves nothing but complete respect and best wishes for Sam.

  10. Strong lineup and great to see us building towards a fully fit list (McNamara and Colvin excepted) coming into finals i expect a professional performance today. That should be enough to translate into a 40 point win for us which will keep within range of Brisbanes percentage

  11. Well Grouse you may very well be correct, however I prefer to Back JT, Tim and Kyah to get the best out of this experience. At the very least we get a very talented, agile, high jumping 6’8” basket baller, who Wants to have a crack at AFL footy. According to his grandfather Kyah has already bonded with Mark Chocko Williams who is renowned as a development coach, so we will get the opportunity to watch this kid develop at Casey under the tutelage of our coaching team, Max and Brodie. Good Luck Kyah, I am really looking forward to seeing you in the Red and Blue and thanks for choosing us. I think that I will have a lay down and another cup of tea.!!!

  12. It’s funny you say that, I do not listen to any of those classics you mention above. Except a little Motörhead but I don’t love them. First four Metallica of course are timeless classics. For me as a kid, at 5 my sister introduced me to AC/DC, then Motley Crüe, Billy Idol, (sister is 5 years older)1984 comes along and Metallica drop Ride the Lightening, I’m hooked, Slayers Reign in blood in 86, then the death metal Grincore got really going and there was no going back. Over the teenage years I got into punk and early rap before moving onto 50-60’s Jamaican Reggae and northern soul. which of course brings you into the mod scene and the Who as @Sir Why You Little mentions above. A lot of great music out there it’s all down to what your ears like! 😁

  13. Who else read the part about him being disillusioned by the team be barracked for as they were perennial losers and just assumed it was us. Then to find out it was Carlton who he also trialled with and who are now on the up again yet he still preferred to come to us. Happy days.

  14. Knight mare is way off the pace and think he may have been found out No way Hawks are taking McKenzie before Jhye Clark if they are taking a midfielder, yes Knightmare May have got wrapped up in the Falcons kid staying down there but the Hawks aren’t letting that happen Eagles aren’t taking Kaleb Smith at 28 if Ed Allan is available. Smith is another Wesley boy, has really good pace, maybe 6ft just, so not key position, foot skills are not great and there’s penetrating kicks which go long and deep without direction and there’s penetrating kicks like Daniel Rich which come off the boot sweetly which stay low, move quickly through the air, go where they’re intended and can’t generally be intercepted. Smith is in the former. He’s a great kid, talented cricketer who could go far in the white ball game but I’m not sure he’s getting drafted and not sure how his name comes up. Two best players in the Wesley side are Ginbey and O’Driscoll(23 draft), most likely to be talked about for next years draft from Wesley outside of O’Driscoll is Austin Chapman who is an endurance machine and big time accumulator in the Lachie Neale mould, but he’s coming off an ACL and lacks size. Eagles I think at 28 take best available and if Allen is gone and they are staying local Baxter Phillip, Conor McDonald, Sam Gilbey, Darcy Jones all come into consideration before Smithy Back on topic though with Knightmare and IMO he’s often off the mark uses buzz drafting words when talking about players but IAH really just changes up the Phantom drafts and player watch done up by Cal Twomey. And I’m not sure we’ll take Jefferson, think they see our forward line struggles and lazy option is to say we need a forward, without assessing poor delivery, Brown being forced to play a role which doesn’t suit him, Turner coming in or Tomo (2nd year off a knee and back early 21 form - yes Deelanders he was reliable and important then) coming back in and Petty moving forward, JVR all into calculations along with 2 1st Rounders next year. I think we take best available to fill roles of elite kick, mid who can impact the scoreboard, rebounding half back or line breaking runner with good foot skills

  15. Sam Weideman another young man with plenty of class who acknowledged our club in glowing terms, helps explain why he was loved so much by his teammates, he sounds as disappointed that he didn’t quite make it as we are. Good luck Sam.!!

  16. If we win 40 - 10 then we end up at 248% If Brisbane win 50-35 they end up 247% Collingwood kicking a decent score (win or lose) is the key to bridging the gap

  24. Josh Schache is a depth acquisition that arose purely because the Weid wanted to leave. Tim Lamb said as much. He also mentioned that his versatility was attractive. He will play a few cameos for us if needed but spend most time with Casey. He won’t become a best 22 player and won’t miraculously solve our forward problems. Would be very pleasantly surprised if he did though but I’m not holding out much hope.

  31. Exactly Pennant. This is my point. I'm seeing first hand the talent that's that's being lost to country footy from the NAB league because clubs aren't willing invest in natural footballers because they're far more interested in going for the raw athlete types who take years to develop. Few years ago I played only a few games for Tiwi Bombers in the NTFL comp where former demon Austin Woneaemirri is heavily involved with. Had the absolute luxury of playing with a guy by the name of Ross Tungatalum who in my opinion is one of the most talented player I've ever seen not to be on an AFL list. He was a cross between Jeff Farmer/Cyril Rioli. I spoke to one of the coaches about Ross's story and why he wasn't on a AFL list. I was told that Ross was originally picked up by St Kilda as a rookie and only last 1 year because St Kilda did not put the appropriate support around him nor did they invest time into the culture awareness that was needed for Tungatalumto to thrive in an AFL environment even though Ross himself was incredibly desperate to play AFL. At the time I played with Tungatalum who was mature age and whole lot more mature, I was told that clubs were interested in him but yet still weren't willing to put the individual support around him it would appear that certain player were getting much more needed support then other first year players. I thought what an absolute cop out excuses from some of these AFL clubs. I get why clubs are willing to invest more time into the raw athletes where footballing ability is secondary, but give me the Tom Stewart’s and Tim Kelly's of the world.
