  1. He is from up this way in Albury/Wodonga and I know some of his knockabout mates.. All I will say is stay absolutely clear from this muppet.

  2. Bernie Vince was a sensational pick up for the club. Jeff Garlett was also a ripping get for the club, considering we gave up practically nothing to get him and he had a few 40 goal seasons for us. We gave up a second round pick to get Frost, a third rounder and a fourth rounder, so I'd like to think we won that trade, while letting Dunn go was the right move. He couldn't, and some speculate wouldn't, play in the role we wanted him to down back. The fringe players failing means nothing - he went for some depth in the hope one or two might work out. They didn't. The Ben Kennedy deal was disappointing, true, but you can't get everything right. I'm 50/50 on the Kelly trade - of course I'd rather have him, but Roos had a decision to make at the time. We needed as many players who were ready to go on our list in 2014, and moving back a few places in the draft while also adding Tyson made sense at the time. I can understand why we did it. Again, I'd rather Kelly, but there were legitimate reasons behind the trade.

  3. So just reviewing the last few pages of this thread based on Semi final 2019 performances only some would have no interest in Blicavzs, Barass, Mcgovern, Neale, Cripps, Andrews. FCS

  4. Yes as a DFA, absolute upgrade on players we’ve already delisted and Stretch, JKH and Wagner. Let’s remember that our bottom six getting a game are very ordinary, I base how we’re looking at these six. Not every player we bring in can be a star but they can be an upgrade on our lower end players.

  5. My thought was that, as soon as I saw he was delisted, there would be a thread about him on Demonland. No from me.

  6. I think we just take every delisted player and FA and then we will win a flag with our list of 120.

  7. Frost doesn't have the tank - or anything like it - to play wing. Well documented.

  9. If a good coach got hold of him ( hopefully ) in our system and set us up with Frost, Lever and May as the three talls I think it would work well. He has really developed his punch and has good closing speed. He has also become much more reliable. He has learnt this year to leave his opponent and help be the third man up as well. He had very good results against some very good footballers. He has had one and a half years in the senior team where he has gone way past Oscar and can be rightfully proud of this years output. Apart from his on-field dust up with May I think he understands better how we want him to play and for us there is an upside as he can develop further with confidence as a regular team member. If he goes elsewhere it will take him a while to settle in as he is unpredictable and will spook his new teammates at times. Much better for Frost if he stays, much better for us if he stays.

  10. They weren't laughing after the final last year or when we beat them this year. Cost them a place in the finals!

  11. Tamper with sample, get 4 years. Simple. The rest is spin. Rioli is not the victim, he knew better. Hope ASADA and/or WADA don't back down

  12. Wingers have to have more than just speed, they have to read the play very well so their in the right position to either create an outlet from defense, create the play going forward or block space to make the ball movement harder for the opposition. unfortunately while Frost has great pace, he's probably the worst in the league at reading the play, so he'd make a horrible wingman. He's played best as a 1 on 1 defender because he has someone besides him leading him to the ball. I'm guessing the Hawks inquired then looked at how he would fit in with the way they run their defenses and cooled off, while he's much more suited to the North style. That's why I also think we won't be giving him big money, May, Lever, Jetta and Hibberd work best in a zone defense, but you need to know how to read the play to make that work well.

  13. Unless it's an A+ Grader, some on here don't want to have a bar of it. That's despite the fact that a genuine A grader only moves clubs once ever few years, and always to a larger franchise club.

  14. ED LANGDON (FREM) All signs still point to Melbourne after the speedy winger recently met with a host of clubs to explore his options. Keen on the Demons and the feeling is mutual

  15. I'd be more than happy for Frosty to stay. Improved a great deal this year. I'll grant you he is quick and that is his major asset. I reckon May is surprisingly quick but be that as it may (pardon the pun) speed is useful but not vital as a defender. An ability to read the play, read the flight of the ball, defend on on one and reliably hit targets are more important strengths. Unfortunately Frosty is not particularly good at any of these skills.

  18. I think Langdon will be at the club as well. It is dependent upon what is accepted as a trade.

  19. I believe that Tomlinson will be a demon next season. I am 97% certain that it is over the line.

  20. Getting Tomlinson and Elliot as free agents and so not having to give up any picks would be massive. Both are in the right age range too. And both have finals experience.

  21. ADAM TOMLINSON (GWS) Had a trainwreck final with just 24 ranking points and one effective kick. But won’t stop Melbourne throwing big dollars at him and they see him playing on a wing. GWS couldn’t love his selflessness and attitude more, but just don’t have the cash to keep him.

  28. No completely agree, I was furious with the club that Gawn got another game after round 1 this year, Oliver got another game after round 10, that we ever rookied Jetta after his first few years. I know you see the bigger picture SWYL, but only based on their last performance??

  29. Talk about contradicting yourself! In one post you're saying a club is defined by its past and now you're saying "one is only as good as your last performance"! Neither are true. Have a think about it ...

  31. I don't think this is Worsfold's idea though. Seems almost similar to the Malthouse situation.

  32. Worsfold gets a years pay for doing very little Essendrug lessen there costs by not sacking early. They can also pay Rutten a base (Learning) salary All good in theory, let’s hope in reality it becomes a huge mess!!!

  34. Not saying that at all 'hardtack', I'm sure our recruiting strategy is based on his AFL performances over his career and then what they think he can do going forward. Those just looking at Saturday night really have no idea.

  35. Deadset no. I know too much about him to even entertain this.

  40. Setting aside Kelly, Whitfield and Cameron, Zach Williams is probably the player I think best suits our needs. He's RFA in 2020 when the Giants have all sorts of other list issues. I'd do 3 for 12 and Williams.

  42. The way some posters post on this site you'd think nobody would be good enough to play for melbournefc. Probably dangerfield or paddy cripps wouldn't be good enough.

  44. Hey guys, See below for the rules on the playing list. In summary, we can only have 44 players all up (not including CAT B players). Because of the pre season (Lockhart + C.Wagner) and mid season (Dunkley) picks, we had 45 players by the end of this season. Basically, we need 1 less player than what we finished the season with. 16. Player Lists – 2018 - 2022 (a) Each AFL Club shall maintain their Lists during the Term as follows: (i) The number of Players on the Club’s Primary List shall be not more than 40 and not less than 38; (ii) The number of Players on the Club’s Category A Rookie List shall be not more than 6 provided that a Club must not have more than 44 Players on their Primary List and Category A Rookie List at any time; (iii) The number of Players on the Club’s Category B Rookie List shall be not more than 3. (b) Any amount paid to a Rookie Player in excess of the base payment payable to a 1st year, 41+ choice selection shall be included in the relevant AFL Club’s Total Player Payments. For the avoidance of doubt, the minimum base payment payable to a 1st year, 41+ choice selection shall be excluded in the relevant AFL Club’s Total Player Payments for each Rookie Player. (c) Players included on a Category A Rookie List shall be eligible for selection in a Match from 1 November 2017 notwithstanding any contrary provision in this Agreement or the AFL Rules. Prior to 31 October 2017, AFL shall make all necessary amendments to the AFL Rules so that they shall provide for a Player on a Category A Rookie List to be eligible for selection in any Match played after 1 November 2017.
