  1. Just had a quick look at the stats. Preuss has 25 disposals (23 kicks and 2 handballs), plus 7 marks and a goal, all to go with 52 hit outs. Not a bad response to being dropped.

  4. I simply cannot fathom the fact we gave Goodwin a long term contract on the back of 1 good year. We then got Pert in, who was moved on from Pies for creating a toxic environment there. Then there is the President, who is a [censored] and doesn’t say jack [censored] all season. We have undone all the stability we had. We again lack identity. Pert has failed to deliver on the Yarra Park plan after being cocky and thinking he could get it done. We have no home base training facility. Our two captains are way off it. A voiceless President. A coach with a shocking game plan and deluded sense of where we are at. It’s back to the Neeld era tonight folks. I am that worried about where we are headed. Dont feed us “we’ve been in every match” rubbish. We were a flag favourite and we can’t play 4 quarters and have become the laughing stock of the AFL again. We all have a right to be furious. Don’t sell us bulltish about pre season injuries. All clubs get them. We traded our depth and got [censored] all in return. It stinks of poor management at every single level of the club. It sounds oh so familiar. FMD I need a Valium and a glass of scotch.

  5. When Bradtke gets a body, look out. Seems well coordinated for someone so tall. Could be a hard to handle forward in a couple of years.

  6. Hore reads the play so well. I watched him off the ball postioning up the line as the ball was turned over. He just appears out of nowhere, floats in and clunks it. Times it beautifully.

  9. Compare the pair. 1 is coming back from a long season ending knee injury, manages to get into position quick enough to take intercept grabs. Fluffs some kicks. The other is coming back from a short reprogramming exercise because, quite simply, he stank. He can't read the play, is too slow to even get to the contest, would be out-muscled anyway, shows zero urgency, spoils into the corridor, however successfully completes the easy bail out kick under no pressure (because the ball luckily bounced his way while he was manning thin air). Oh, nearly forgot, still stinks. I'm no massive Lever fan, but bugger me, this is bordering on the ridiculous.

  11. The ground was lengthened a few years back with an excavation at the southern Sautner end. Cricket is not played there. The Saints have been busy yoyoing between Moorabbin and Seaford to trai there. I don't recall Sandringham restricting MFC player development. In fact at the time when we won 3 or 4 flags there I thought a successful culture may breed success. I am biased living 200m from TBO - the alliance years were great days for me.

  13. Don't just say it, show us the difference. FWIW I think our lack of skills is part of the cascading effect which stems from being underdone at season's start, unexpected losses undermining confidence compounded by some players poor form and others' seasons interrupted by injury, resulting in more losses, less confidence and diminishing skills. But I could be wrong. Anyway, I am interested in you elaborating on the above comment.

  16. It’s pretty sad when you arrive at the point where you are that starved of sporting team supporting success, where you almost wish your team would just shut the doors and put you out of your misery.. I’m almost at that point with the MFC. After 43 years of ups and mostly downs, the adrenaline injection I got during finals last year turned me into a success starved junkie....now Im chasing a taste of the good stuff again... I fear I’m not going to see it again, at least in the short term. It really does ruin my weekends. I wish I didn’t care so much...

  19. or possibly because he made a big big error in not tweaking the plan post 2018 and then changing it mid season has left them confused. Whichever way you look at no single person is to blame it's a domino effect, Goody bears the brunt of the heat as he should as head coach, but he's not alone fitness is sub standard for a variety of reasons including the players, not just Misson Effects the players ability to make repeat efforts Effects their ability to spread from contests which they were doing in last years run home Effects their endurance and subsequently their skills and awareness All that amplified by confidence being shot and depth being exposed

  20. How many cheap hits did he dish out to Jimmy Munro today? To top it off for Steven, Munro ended up with 29 touches, 8 tackles, double figure clearances and 9 inside 50s, BOG yet again from Jimmy Munro, he's really having another superb season

  22. Agreed JD, but whilst Clarrie is tagged, he can and does overcome it with his sublime ball-getting skills, positioning, mobility and teamwork. He is just doing - or being asked to do - too much across a game to make up for the weaknesses in others. The one thing he cannot overcome is the illegal holding than he tolerates as a sportsman from all opposition midfielders; it is now endemic - every team does it to excess on him - yet the umpires have no sight for this - there seems to be an AFL directive that with Clarrie, illegal holding is acceptable to nullify the otherwise dominance of Clarrie. It ain't for any other key midfielder in the competition (Cripps comes to mind), just Clarrie. It is also allowable for an opposition team to do this to Brayshaw, as well, these days. That is one 'hellava weekly disadvantage for our team demonstrated by the green snot goblins. Max mus endure continuous fouls (of many descriptions) as well - as we all see at all points of the ground where Max is located across a game. Few opposition rucks challenge him for the ball tap; rather, they opt for body slams, arm entanglement and knees to the ribs. Watch a few replays on this to count the number of times this is done to nullify the best ruck in the League. Open slather on the Dees' best three. NO problems! To increase the level of disgust I hold for the umpires and their AFL directives, this kind of infringement has started to be used against Salem, if not a straight out belting before he gets the ball.

  26. Brave man STMJ Didn't have the courage of your convictions until tonight's game to respond I agree with the first paragraph, he chose not to bad decision by him and something he very much needs to learn from or he'll be gone next year. If you can't see game plan changes then I can't help you, I never said anything about them being the finished article or that it meant Goodwin was on the road to becoming Norm Smith Nothing changes I'll not make a final call until I see how we respond next season. I'll leave you and the other finger pointers to spend the next 4 weeks saying I told you so. Do I want to win the next 4 games, Yes, but it won't change anything, the season has been a waste and Goodwin and the FD need to rectify things pretty quickly

  27. This decision turned the game in favour of St Kilda while the scores were still close. It was appalling. It should have been holding the ball. The St Kilda player took the ball in one arm and tried to get through two players without an effort in disposing of the ball. Number 17 umpire made several dubious decisions all night. Should go back to Bendigo and stick to playing cricket, a non contact sport.

  31. Wagners both need to be dropped and not played again, our problem is our bottom 6 players are trash, Wagners, OMac, ANB, Baker and Smith were absolute rubbish, it’s the difference between winning and losing! Baker is young and will be a good player, the other 5 are not worth persevering with!

  34. In 7 of our last 10 games we have either been ahead or within one kick at 3/4 time. 8 games if you include Brisbane where we were level very late in the 3rd quarter. Our record is 2 wins 6 losses in those 8 games. Of the 2 wins, one was against Freo with 2 players down, the other against Carlton where we still got overrun in the last quarter (although being 3 down was a significant factor). In the others, we've been regularly overrun in final quarters. What is the cause? Are we not fit enough? Do we freeze up when the game is up for grabs? We were very poor tonight for the majority of the game. But even still, we were within a kick at 3/4 time and got completely overrun yet again. Hopefully we've added final quarter fadeouts right near the top of the ever-growing end-of-season to do list.

  37. Of course it wouldn't. Another stupid decision by the match panel. Who would care if we lost whilst getting games into Dunkley, Lockhart, the 2 ruck system in Preuss. Tonight was just dumb, as a professional football club this was a fail. Lewis, Wagners, OMac. Even Smith who isn't the future. No club in the current environment would've made these selection decisions.
