  2. Apologies for the late writeup, we went out for tea after the game. Today was a hard slog but Casey's class and pressure won them the day. We were definitely lucky with Ports poor accuracy in front of goal, but that can be attributed to Casey's pressure not allowing them easy shots on goal. The 3 talls in defence in Keilty, Frost and Petty were fantastic and in a game with many momentum swings and the boys were able to hang on and get the win. Tyson - Started poorly with many turnovers and wasted possessions but improved as the game went on too finish well and have a big impact on the game Garlett - Quiet game, kicked a great goal but otherwise didn't do a lot Keilty - His best game for the year. Found the ball plenty and mostly used it well. Had some great defensive marks and when thrown forward in the last quarter was able to be the key link up man for Casey. He's goal was reminiscent of the TMac out the back of the pack, where he just read it best and was able to get it off hands and turn around for an easy kick. Frost - Some great marks and was solid all day. Had some nice run too. Petty - Keeps improving each game, strong in the air and hardly beaten one on one. Baker - Very strong second half, found plenty of the ball running from half back and had some impressive line breaking runs through the middle. Stretch - Bounced back from a quiet game last week to be Caseys best midfielder for the day. Balic - Was lively up forward and kicked 2 very nice goals, continues to improve each week. Bugg - Quiet but I thought he did his role well, needed to find more of the pill. JKH - About the same as his previous few games, nothing special Smith - Had some really good one on one wins and was a good user. King - First game back from injury, needs to build back into playing footy at this level Filipovic- Did well in the ruck and got his hands to a lot of contests, just needs to hold some more marks. Wagner - Had a solid game through the midfield and half back Johnstone - Started to show better signs today, had some important defensive efforts today Some bad news, Mitch White copped a heavy knock and seems to have done some damage to his AC ligament in his shoulder, might be done for the season. Overall it wasn't pretty and Port played some hard, strong football but in the end the class of a few key players stood up and allowed Casey to win the day.

  9. Oskar Baker showed something today. I hadn’t liked him much previously. Had a standout 3rd quater demonstrating pace skill and vision. Not sure who the midfield coach is but he said Baker was “fxxxkn super” at the huddle. Petty will be a player has the lot. Tyson and Garlett wont be showing the replay to the coaches for a call up.

  10. For what it is worth, I have just been talking to one of our favourite players long term partner who told me that Tommy’s injury is not too bad. He just pulled up slightly sore.

  12. Want to thank you guys for progress reports and keeping us all in the know. It was a great effort, widely appreciated. Glad to hear that the Casey fellas did well, again. There seems to be some real depth coming along. Thank you, again.

  13. I suppose the term "winning ugly" could be used but it was not that ugly. A great across the team effort. Last quarter was probably Casey's best whereas the game could easily have been finished by Port in the first quarter. 1 goal 8 that could so easily have been 7goals 2 or the like. Garlett... okay and better towards the back half of the game... did he do enough... maybe ... would be interested in his tackle count.(As an aside he does have positioning sense. Stood deep in the forward pocet when the ball was being kicked from the 70 metre mark on the other pocket. Pack fly about twenty metres out from the goal mouth.. Garlett's opponent moves towards the pack... he stays still quick skewed kick out of the pack.. Garlett marks ... handball over the top and Balic strolls in for an easy goal. Right spot.. right time.. guess that is what makes Jeffy special.) Bugg... as a forward maybe shaded Garlett. Good mark and goal to get Casey within a few points when Port were on top in the third quarter. Kept a close eye on Balic and Baker. Balic.... building ... decent game and could be a prospect. Not as good as his opening game against Coburg. Baker... very good .. needs to back himself a little more. Quick to give off by hand or the short kick not necessarily to a team mate in a better position. Had a relatively easy shot for goal in the pressure part of the final quarter and missed badly. Keep improving and perhaps next year. Saw glimpses of Petty.. developing nicely perhaps a shade behind Baker. Kielty had a strong game. Port were excellent opposition and while unaligned are a strong unit. Very nice Burra burger and the local supporters are more one eyed than the Dolphin fans of last week... (think many of them like a drink.)

  18. Brilliant? They played 15 minutes of decent footy against the 2nd worst side in the comp who played 10 minutes of decent footy. Was an average game with average skills. The only brilliant thing was the final siren.

  19. You have not suffered as many daggers to the heart by Melbourne players - obviously - as I have. I started barracking for them while watching them lose the 1958 Grand Final - I was always an underdog man - and since 1964, the almost good to very good periods under Northey and Daniher - there was also a pretty good year under Skilton in 1976 when a point kicked by Robert Walls instead of a goal - would have given us a finals berth at a time the Demons were smashing a few sides. LIke I keep repeating, I have great sympathy for Tyson, I always wish him well, but he's kicked a pass to the opposition way too often for me. I am glad he played well today, glad for all involved...Though, having said that, I note guys like Wrecker downgrading his performance today. Also, I think judging players simply by the number of possessions can be misleading. I'm not typing rocket science here, it's just bloody obvious. I also felt a little dismayed when Brian Taylor kept praising Tyson's disposal during the last game Tyson played in the seniors.

  20. Good coverage, all you guys at the ground. Many of us unable to get to the VFL games get very good service. Thanks. Great to hear many players are stepping forward. They put pressure on those in the senior side. How long has it been since we can say that. Very pleased that Declan K bounced back hard from last week's head knocks. Now we all wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

  28. Petty- he plays as a lock down defender like OMac. Developing well and has good skills for a KPD. Probably needs a few years to really hit AFL level like all tall players do Balic- yeah he’s a HFF that can do midfield, probably like ANB. Pace isnt fantastic but is skillful Smith- had a few nasty injuries so will take some time to get back to his best, but has been solid. Plays similar to the Jeremy Howe role. He seems fine physically but have no idea of his mental recovery sorry Edit: Forgot Baker- Both. He reads the play well and is evasive as well as good running speed.

  35. If Carlton gets preferential treatment by way of a priority pick at the end of the year it will be the final proof of corruption at the top of the AFL. We've already been lied to about clubs having to earn those coveted and valuable Friday night fixtures through good performances by virtue of the fact that Carlton has been given heaps of them this year despite finishing 16th in 2017. So if you have to establish a case with the AFL to get special consideration over a number of years then how can one club be considered favourably for draft assistance in the same year that it received the honour of a swag of Friday night games?

  43. Quarter time Port 2-9-21 to Casey 2-1-13 Tyson poor, pretty sure every kick went to an opposition. Stretch and both Wagner’s good, Keilty good same with Frost and Petty If we fix up our disposal we’d be good.

  47. Plow is irrelevant what a toss bag of yesterday's jizz. Big deal that Lever changed clubs. Boo Hoo Adelaide. Not like every player on your list was born and bred there (Bryce Gibbs to name one...). Seriously, if they need to target Jake they will be looking the wrong way. The ball will be up the other end of the ground. Suck your own balls, plow.
