  1. A couple of rule changes and it could be alright. Play on a bigger oval. Have 18 a side on the field. 4 20 minute quarters with time on. Get rid of super goals, add rucks, tackling and contests.

  4. Last year was undoubtedly a tough one for Jesse, I can’t be bothered with the quibbling over his ‘body language’. He looks to be in ripping shape, can’t wait to see him this season particularly with some time up the ground and in the midfield. With Petracca and Oliver taking a bit of the limelight and a very disrupted 2017, I think we’ve forgotten just how good this Hogan kid is.

  5. From a long time member, tell your mates thanks for the work they do for our club. The fund raising efforts, in addition to the vocal support you provide at games, are very much appreciated by many of us.

  12. Somehow this evens things out for our loss in the 1988 Grand Final, and I'll go out on a limb and say tonight's game is more important. I might have knocked the concept last night but, let's be honest, it's the best thing the AFL have come up with in decades.

  17. Onya Buggy. The bandwagon has no-one on it right now, so I'll be the driver. I reckon he was so important for us last year during our best patch of footy.

  19. Melksham to win a brownlow on this performance. We are in front at the moment so I've decided this competition now matters.

  20. You're looking at it through the lens of a dyed in the wool AFL fanatic. The game isn't AFL, nor is it trying to be. It also isn't trying to win you over as a fan, either. It's a game that's easy to play, understand and run for spectators who aren't traditional AFL followers. It's an easy entry point for new markets. It's like a more forgiving version of AFL 9s, where the big barrier is the skill needed to keep the ball off the ground. If you've never played before then AFLX is much easier to start playing and watching.

  25. Brayshaw to BT in the first... “Melbourne would be further ahead if not for their inaccuracy”. At that point, we had kicked 5 goals 1. How do these clowns get and hold jobs calling the footy

  26. Can't believe it! Our first grand final in 17 years and they won't let me back in the stadium cause I pinched a zooper dooper from the kid behind me.

  35. I was dubious but interested, but every positive feeling I did have was drowned in all that ridiculous razzamataz. I despair of a world where it is believed that shooting flames and steam and flashing goal posts, music and commentary are essential elements for a sport's success. Was this aimed at 6 year-olds? Sadly, no - hence my despair. I will be watching tonight just to see how the new Demon players look. As a footy tragic who is happy to watch almost any real AFL game regardless of who is playing, I would only watch an AFLX game involving the Dees. I expect I am not alone. As for a fun game to play with small numbers on a smaller field, thank god we have the AFL to invent the official rules for what we used to do in neighbourhood scratch matches. If only we'd had flashing light goal posts, sigh..... The AFL would be wise to consider why Gaelic football is so much more interesting to watch (even without flashing goal posts and the odd tackle).

  37. I enjoyed watching some of the kids get a fair crack at some game-time - not sure if this format is 100% right yet for Australian markets, still some tinkering needs to be done. However, certainly looks like the best product we have ever had for the export markets. I could see during finals times teams that dont make finals - play this game on an international level to promote the game. Im looking forward to watching how our kids perform tonight.

  38. Gil, "It exceeded our expectations in a number of areas and will be in our planning going forward, our game goes from strength to strength. The AFL is at the forefront on important issues, multiculturalism, women in sport, marriage equality and now we show leadership in making the X in AFLX mean something" Edit:- This is me tongue in cheek not Gil - sorry Jack son 5 should have made it clearer.

  44. surely the poster was just referring to the way he sometimes behaves on the field when things don't go his way, not the dramas in his life. I doubt if it was meant offensively at all.
