  1. Lewis was my neighbour until a few years ago. A top fella, who has an extremely sharp football brain. Even in our darkest hours, he insisted that I stick fat as he was sure there were good times to come for the MFC, in the not too distant future. I am rapt he is now part of that future. There is nothing but positives in this acquisition.

  2. And just like that, I find the smug look on Lewis' face endearing.

  3. "I looked at every Club in the competition and after going through every list, Melbourne was the one that stood out – if I wasn’t going to be at Hawthorn. It was clear to me that I wanted to play for the Melbourne Football Club." Jordan Lewis

  6. Dear Essendon, You still don't know what you injected Michael Hibberd with, stop being a bunch of pricks. Yours sincerely, Clint Bizkit

  8. Random fact: he was the first player who decided to sign a new contract with the Dee's when he could have left as a FA

  9. Goodbye Lynden Dunn Though I hardly knew you at all You had the grace to play with Neeld While those around you bawled You tried to play up forward But you couldn't hold down a place They sent you down to full back And you grew fuzz on your face And it seems to me you lived your life Like a Bailey/Neeld thing Never knowing who to kick to While oppos closed in And I would have liked to see you Play in a bunch of wins Those coaches killed you long before PJ and Roos came in

  10. I love his use of the word that I have put in bold below. "I looked at every Club in the competition and after going through every list, Melbourne was the one that stood out – if I wasn’t going to be at Hawthorn. It was clear to me that I wanted to play for the Melbourne Football Club. “I then met with Goody, Josh and Todd early last week and following that, it really solidified my thoughts about joining Melbourne. “I believe in what the Club is building. There is some outstanding young talent at the Club and that is an area I can certainly play a role in – mentoring and developing those players both in an on-field and off-field sense. “I’m really looking forward to this new challenge. We have a lot of work to do but from what I know, and from what I have seen firsthand, the players seem up for the fight and I can’t wait to get to work at the Club."

  11. The last product they sold us took a year to fix. They can wait a year this time.

  12. That moment when you tell Todd Viney that contested footy isn't one of your strong points.

  13. At last I can stop checking Demonland every 20 mins and get some work done. This signing means a few things to me: 1. Strong leadership during games at important hinge/momentum times, something we lacked in so many games during Roos era. 2. Josh Mahoney and crew - a pay rise, a free case of Australia's best Shiraz, and a new contract until 2026. 3. Lewis does not solve every list issue we have, but it is an incredible boost. 4. I am not a fan of "destination club" thinking, but he had a choice of 17 others so that says a lot about how other teams see us. 5. Personally, I could not stand Lewis' onfield demeanour as a footballer, despising his thuggery and bullying. Something tells me I am now going to love it coming from a Dees jumper. 6. This will be the longest pre-season ever.

  14. " I looked at every Club in the competition and after going through every list, Melbourne was the one that stood out – if I wasn’t going to be at Hawthorn. It was clear to me that I wanted to play for the Melbourne Football Club" Jordan Lewis on why he joined Melbourne from MFC website. It is nice to hear someone say things like this after many years in the wilderness. And to think people think Roos did nothing for this club!

  15. And why do we need your take on his take? This is a forum. He can post what he wishes as long he's on the subject. You're not. If you don't like a poster put them on ignore. Thanks.

  20. I can't believe how offended people get when rumours turn out to be wrong. Again, if someone is making stuff up then ban them but most times people are just passing on what they hear.

  21. Wow. Lewis on Trade radio being interviewed by Barret. Someone find the link, in the meantime I'll paraphrase. "I see Hawthorn of the early 2000s in Melbourne" "Knowing that Hogan signed, that made it clear what Melbourne's direction was." Ipso facto... Hogan signs, people want to come to the club. That is massive.

  23. This is a brilliant move. We absolutely lack mature leadership. This takes so much pressure off Jones, and Bernie who I think is on his last legs. It means we have someone who can mentor our young players, and show them what it takes to be part of a premiership club, while also being a big body to support our developing mids and help push them when things are not going our way during games. I strongly believe that Goodwin has his eyes firmly set on making finals next year.

  25. Collingwood are shedding the contracts of Swan, Cloke, Brown, Frost and Marsh, yet can't afford to pay Dunn under their cap? Makes the Wells and Mayne deals look more absurd by the day.

  27. AHHHH HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA Oh gee. I think I'm going to have to visit the bigfooty Hawthorn board to see how the smug army are taking it.

  32. Wow and we didn't even give up any picks? Just downgraded our 3rd and 4th rounders? Mahoney is a genius.

  34. Also, not doing that deal has meant that they haven't been able to do other deals. In the past we have done the deals quickly, allowing us to look at trade period as a whole. Essendon have sucked at trading because they have only looked at deals in isolation. Given our desire to do fair deals over last period, I'm happy to back our club's judgement on this at the moment.

  35. It's worth noting that Lewis won't get as battered at Melbourne and will be able to use his smarts and skill around the contests. At Hawthorn the only other inside mid was Mitchell. He'll have Viney, Tyson, Oliver, Brayshaw, etc. able to do the real heavy lifting. If anything, coming to the Dees could freshen him up.

  36. Good pickup this, especially for a late pick swap. He's going to bring leadership, maturity and experience to the group and help guide our youngsters on the path to glory. Interesting he said in his interview that witnessing us beat them comfortably first hand and play hard football attracted him to us. It shows us there are no nothing games, it's unacceptable to put up performances like we did the last 2 rounds as it could cost us a player or supporters. Welcome to the club you Balding Sniper!

  37. Just watching the presser. He is a very loyal young man. The media continue to try set him up "throw Hawks under the bus, we need a headline".. Lewis buys none of that, very loyal to the Hawks still. Great get for us, he is a polished media performer.

  38. This is what I'd suggest: Dunn to Collingwood, Witts to Gold Coast, Pick 62 to Melbourne. Melbourne then trade Picks 57, 62 & 68 = 364 draft points to Collingwood for Pick 47 = 316 draft points. Helps the filth with two father/son selections coming this draft. We go to the draft with Picks 29 & 47 and upgrade one rookie.

  39. Demonland if I'm not mistaken I think you'd agree we should add Todd Viney to this list. Todd is in charge of list management and is largely responsible for the negotiations between clubs. Josh is great but like the pig who is accountable for the bacon, Todd is accountable for list management.

  40. Also important is the "landing a big fish"/"destination club" factor. Hopefully this leads to more stars wanting to come in the future.
