Imagine there's no injuries It isn't hard to do No players out of form And no suspensions too Imagine all the midfield In the twenty-two Imagine no bad losses I wonder if you can No need for gnashing or wailing Or meltdowns on SEN Imagine if the Demons Scraped into the eight Yoo-hoo, woo-woo-woo You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And D'land will be as one11 points

Before you make yourself look like an absolute fool did you bother to read the article and find out the facts before sinking the boots? Obviously not.. H was over there during the OFF SEASON for a wedding with his family and missed 4 days into the new season. Club has absolutely no problem with it and for your information Lumumba has been doing a mountain of work off the field in trying to get his body right. He has already identified that his 2015 was not good enough and is now working hard to prove himself. FMD..9 points

Trengove is a natural footballer. A very good one. He will not have lost this. I think it is simply a question of whether he can regain fitness and, if he can, have sustained and uncompromised confidence in it. If he can, he will absolutely be in our best 22.6 points

Hasn't stopped Robbie Gray Matthew Richardson and James Hird from continuing on to have great careers or even better form after career threatening foot injuries. Our very own Viv Michie missed nearly 2 years of footy because of a stress fracture in the same foot and the reports were that he may not make it back. He is now fit and healthy and has proved to be a really good depth player. So yes people do have the right to believe it because its happened plenty of times in the past. Your negative ego is seriously getting the better of you. Its quite sad your putting all your energy into hoping Trengove doesn't make it back at all which i personally think is disgraceful.5 points

I drove past training yesterday so I didn't see a lot but Oliver was near the Punt Road boundary and I was really shocked to see how big he is in the flesh.5 points

It turned out a great read. We know now that all of Emma Quayle's subjects were drafted by AFL clubs and have gotten through the first seasons with their respective clubs. We also know that St KIlda maintained their preference for Paddy McCartin ahead of Christian Petracca and Angus Brayshaw and selected him as the #1 choice even though the pundits were going for Petracca (who was first in the Herald Sun phantom draft on the eve of the draft meeting). I got the impression that the person who pushed hardest for him was Tony Elshaug who concluded he was the best player in the pool and that he might one day have egg on his face over that decision. McCartin made limited appearances, Petracca none due to his ACL and Brayshaw played 21 games (and was rested once). Melbourne's other selections in the draft, Alex Neal-Bullen, Billy Stretch and Oscar McDonald all received games and there's no reason at this stage to believe that our selections will become anything other than a bumper crop for the club.5 points

Great words, Mr Lennon. Sadly I doubt if D'land will ever be as one. I can envisage as Nathan Jones accepts the 2017 Premiership Cup on our behalf, some here will whine about the missed pass in the second quarter, or bemoan the fact the <player x> missed a tackle in the third, or the failure to convert the 95 point win over Hawthorn to over 100 due to a poor set shot in the dying minutes. Some will never ever be happy. Sad souls. You can guess who they are.4 points

One of the most likely reasons for visa problems is the need for people to have proof of inoculation against various diseases found in the area. Parts of Africa which have been plagued by viruses etc are the most difficult. If you try to enter some of these countries without the proper proof, you might not be allowed in and if you do get in without proper inoculation you might not be assured of getting back to Australia. The other reason is a special visa is required for entry and simply hasn't been obtained - one of the above probably explains Heritier's problems and is hardly newsworthy compared to what NRL players get up to these days.4 points

Having been to a couple of sessions at Maroochydore this year I'd say overall the skills look to be up a notch from this time last year. The change in training style to more footy drills and less plain running is also noticeable - This might explain why I've noticed an improvement in skills. The way I see it this could be because the players are less fatigued from the intermittent running sessions meaning less skills errors being made or because the skills are being honed more because more time is being spent on footy drills, or a combination of both. It's because of this change in training style that I find it challenging to gauge improvement across the board but I think individually it is pretty obvious who has upped the ante. Gawny, Harmes, Jones & Kent were the most obvious. Gawny is really attacking the play with Gusto, carrying on the improvement he made during the last season. If he stays fit then look out because he will make some opponents look silly. I find it hard to believe but somehow Jones has managed to get better again this year despite his injury. I'm tipping Harmes to find a regular spot this year. He just a goer and there's something about him. Kent is just all class and has got himself fitter. He impressed me last January also an just like Gawny I'm tipping him to be a real star for us this year. Of the others that have caught the eye: I like the way Bugg is going about it, he'll be a good pick up. Watts looks set to have a really good year. Oliver is a dead set ripper. Once he finds his feet he is going to make the selectors at Vic Country look silly. Love his intensity and awareness around the ball. Booming kick, and great hands. What I saw of Weidemen was pretty impressive. Good turn of foot and great hands and great foot-skills for a big guy. Mitch Clarke like but a better mark more dual-sided. Didn't see a lot of Hulett. He is another really good set shot for goal though. Tyson will poll well at the Brownlow if he can stay on the park. Overall the team looks fitter and more team oriented than last year. My first impression of training (despite being more simplistic in nature) was that we have more lefties and hard nuts on the list than this time last year. It's probably the observation that will stay with me the most as the season starts and probably a pretty good place to leave it - I can see us just sneaking into the 8 this year.4 points

Everybody's talking 'bout D'landers, grand standers, web sites, bomb sights, naviculars, particulars, Nathan Jones, Dawes groans, Ollie Wines, JT shrines, back formations, Watts frustrations, congratulations. All I am saying ... is give peace a chance.3 points

If said player is suggesting he withdrew prior to TB4 injections, he obviously knows when they occurred. Which leads to the only conclusion - that TB4 injections happened. Guilty, bang, see ya later. If he had this evidence he should have produced it when requested - which would have closed the case 12 months ago. Now, at best, he's an accomplice. Just as guilty.3 points

Some absolute gems out of this article btw : "While Akermanis has dodged some of the game's best defenders, he could not escape the wrath of AFL chief Andrew Demetriou yesterday. Demetriou took aim at Akermanis, describing his comments that footballers have used performance-enhancing drugs as stupid and ridiculous. Akermanis said this week he had played on an opponent in Brisbane in 28C who ran him off his legs and he believed his rival was a drug cheat. Demetriou returned fire yesterday. "I think they are just stupid comments and if he has got something to say he should contact ASADA and let them know," Demetriou said. "But there is nothing to support those comments, absolutely nothing to support them and I treat them with the disdain they deserve." No...nothing going on eh Demetriou ?? This bloke was full of so much shlt ( AD ) He has escaped a lot of due scrutiny me thinks !!3 points

My take on Parish after watching one game was that he wasn't what he was being sold as. In that game he looked a little slow for a small mid, reflexes not great (bowled a couple of times by ground balls coming at him), an ok kick, didn't have a lot of impact on the game His highlight reel showed a kid who was very clever at moving the ball on in close, he looked good. He looked like a footballer... Turner says he's the greatest kid to pull on a boot, he says that every year... What to make of him, well I can't go on one game and he did get AA honours 2 years running which is a big achievement. The kid can play, he looks to be pretty competitive and doesn't mind mixing it up. Of course he will need to put on some weight which it looks like he is. To play his close game he will need to have the strength to get the ball and move it on. There is a lot of expectation on the kid and as I said earlier I'm glad it's them and Carlton now that need to wheel the kids out as the saviours of the club.3 points

An item on today's financial pages: Slater & Gordon shares plunge on concerns the firm missed deadline to update on cashflows. Shares have gone from $6 a year ago to 60c today. One ambulance chaser going after another: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-order/maurice-blackburn-launches-class-action-against-rival-law-firm-slater-and-gordon/news-story/6437bb1acd95f43c558ebfecd29843b3 One would be forgiven for thinking this may be driving Peter Gordon's eagerness to appeal for his two players. Under the circumstances the Gordon family and their legal firm should step way from the AFL case immediately and declare their conflict of interest. If they don't the AFL should step in as it seems extremely unfair to Crameri and Prismall: Peter Gordon is also their club President. Edit: I hope the directors of Slater and Gordon up to date with 'trading while insolvent' laws in this country.3 points

Why are we still talking about this? As was often the case pre-Roos, we recruited the wrong player. It doesn't matter where he was "ranked" by experts or who wanted who, we drafted Toumpas and it was ultimately the wrong decision. Being a hindsight hero on these threads has absolutely no benefit to anyone. Our drafting and recruiting over the past few off-seasons seems to be much improved as we have as solid a group of youngsters on our list as I can remember. Let's look forward, not back. If we're lucky, maybe Wines will choose to come "home" at the end of the season.3 points

I think we all forget just how seriously good Trengove looked in 2010-2011. Was one of the most impressive young players in the comp and was destined to become an absolute star until Neeld ruined him. People rave about Brayshaw's first year but Trengove was just as good and even better. If Trengove miraculously got that form back i have no doubt we will play finals.3 points

That was the maximum per offence, from memory there were two offences so the max was just over 600k. I agree with your logic but if the max is 600 then they got 30% of that, not really much more than a slap.2 points

Nut the reality is simple. He WAS best 22 He's not now. He may well ( should all planets align etc ) once again attain that but he isnt now nor would he be at any time until he is able to start resuming full training. Even then he'd need form He's lucky to be on the list at all let alone anyone thinking hes top 222 points

But his son (from S&G), who is representing the bulldog players, is so to my mind there is still a conflict of interest between the Gordon family and the WB players. Others may have a different view.2 points

It will be interesting with Parish. Didn't test overly well in terms of speed or endurance and being 180cm and slight i think the player id compare him to his basically Lewis Taylor without the speed and endurance that Taylor has. Like Taylor, Parish in the games i have watched seem to only kick short little 25m passes and doesn't seem to really influence games much. Will win alot of the ball and rack up 22-25 disposal a game but i dont think he has the hurt factor at all. When i watched Oliver last year his playing style was so similar to Luke Parker where he is such a brute around the contest and his contested marking and courage in the air was so impressive! Luke Parker or Lewis Taylor? Hmmm....2 points

Some funny ideas and comments abound. I rated Parish. Still do but like many see the logic and wisdom of selecting Oliver. Be hard not to make an impact at Essendon... Surely2 points

HA! Interesting thought! Hawthorn go hard and win the NAB Cup, then tank all season, rotating and resting players. Their games aren't worth watching because they aren't trying. Then they get a nice easy finals run (comparatively) because of the low ladder position.2 points

Jack has a big heart and with what he has gone through, his late 20s will be a force for the Mighty Dees........ He strikes me as a player who learns from their experience and won't waste a single minute once he gets back out on the park. It is just a matter of time, I'm looking forward to it!2 points
