Hogan is flying from Perth to Darwin to join the team. He isn't going all the way up there just to see crocodiles.9 points

Sorry, Demon Jack, you've broken one of Demonland's rules. You're only allowed to compare Naitinui with Jack Watts.6 points

I like it. We should take it a step further and drop Vince and NJones to bring in McKenzie and Terlich - they'll never see that coming6 points

Titus O'Reilly's look at the game: Melbourne vs. West Coast (TIO) 7.40pm As a Dees supporter, I couldn’t be less interested in playing games in Darwin. Any Melbourne supporter worth their family’s inheritance thinks Etihad Stadium is too far to go for a game. Still, like the aftershocks following a devastating earthquake, the Cameron Schwab era still impacts the Demons every day. Melbourne are riding high following their exciting win against Geelong, and so they should be. No one was more surprised than every single person on Earth. The problem for Melbourne is every time they seem poised to win two in a row, they don’t. It’s a real shame too. A friend told me winning two games in a row is a really worthwhile experience. West Coast have proven the doubters wrong in the past few weeks and good on them, considering the injuries they started the year with. They’ve been so good that even Victorians have mentioned them a few times in the past few weeks. I met up with a couple of Eagles fans in Perth just last night and they tell me that a young guy by the name of Matthew Priddis is worth keeping an eye on. Remember, you heard it here first. I can’t see Melbourne beating West Coast in this one, although I tipped them to lose against Geelong and if I thought that would help here I’d do it again. Not that that is what I’m doing, eight years of pure hell have taught me to tip against the Demons every time. If you think that’s disloyal, all I can say is “You weren’t there, man.”4 points

Noted that Malthouse on SEN picked out Brayshaw as something special in amongst the usual talk by the other commentators of how good the Dogs, St Kilda, the Tigers are going to be in the next three years. Mick picked out MFC as a team to look out for largely based on Brayshaw, Hogan etc.4 points

Sure Harley is a mess, and blowing his god given talents, but surely he doesn't deserve to have his life ruined by the herald sun like that. They've showed rapists more respect than that. Its an absolute disgrace.3 points

I just love the way everything Barrett says which might ultimately benefit Melbourne is believed on Demonland to be ridgy-didge, 100% true without question and everything he says which might be critical of Melbourne is made up, arrant nonsense.3 points

I said it earlier on in the year steer clear of Bennell and was slated his habits and attitude are common knowledge to many and I also stand by what I said previously he is not worth the risk, he may stay on the straight and narrow for a few months maybe a season but he will get comfortable with where he is at and believe he is above everyone and that he can do both, play AFL and keep is bad habits in check3 points

You are exactly right. Who in their right mind would get themselves photographed drinking a UDL?! Disgusting.3 points

Hung out to dry. Poor kid. We already know he wasn't the only one participating. It is wrong. These media outlets should hang their heads in shame.2 points

Except if this scenario was real and Hogan was out of contract for next season, club would be throwing this amount of money at him and we would need to at least match it to keep him. The Boyd deal is an indication of market value for up and coming KPFs, and Hogan is already a more proven prospect than Boyd.2 points

Gawn is yet to show he can run a game out. The only full game he's had as the number 1 ruck was against the Saints and he dropped off in the last Q. With Pedders off and unable to give him a break we used Howe and Watts a few times but a tired Gawn made a couple of crucial mistakes in that last minute. If we drop a tall it has to be Dawes, unless he's made a resurgence as a ruckman.2 points

I would bring in Garland, Hogan and JKH and look at dropping, Bail, Spencer and Riley.2 points

You have only seen what you see on Camera. Shannon Byrnes on VFL radio a while ago mentioned that while Petracca is a good kid he at times can get a little distracted from what he is suppose to do in terms of rehab and general stuff in detail. He is a very bubbly kid but also still needs to mature a bit. Let these kids develop first and mature before we start pairing them off with coke heads.. jeez.. There are no better role models at our club then Daniel Cross, H Lumumba, and Nathan Jones.2 points

I admit to being a dinosaur but these players are professional athletes being paid big bucks to play the game they love. It seems to me that by accepting the rewards they are committing themselves to get the most out of their bodies and drug and alcohol abuse is incompatible with this. I think therefore the AFL and Clubs have the right to demand higher standards from the playing group than enjoyed by other sectors of the community eg the unemployed and socially disadvantaged. A lot of the drug use is symptomatic of the spoiled brat syndrome and an unhealthy sense of entitlement. If they want the party lifestyle they can bugger off and let a some of the many kids who would do anything to have the same opportunity a chance.2 points

Agreed, but it's also arguable that this is due to an unnecessary & largely useless 'war on drugs'. Probably no need to get into that now though, this is about the Suns/AFL.2 points

The biggest health burden is people living too long these days as told to me by my wife who works in the aged care field. Life expectancy is reaching an average of over 90 years for most of us. The biggest burden is medical attention that is keeping people living that long and makes the health industry rich. Even the healthiest will have at least 20 years of ever increasing medical needs once passing 70. At least smokers and drinkers pay their way with taxes.2 points

This whole Let's feel sorry for drug users nonsense, and give them all a cuddle is a damn farce in society. If someone at the MFC or a player on our list gets caught using illicit drugs SACK them. I don't care if it's our marquee player or not! I will not pay membership money if a club knowingly keeps a player on their list who uses illicit drugs. This pampering to drug users has gone too far......it's A typical of everything in society now....no one takes responsibility for their actions. The AFL are pyssweek with its policy on drugs...let's cuddle them hey....what a joke!2 points

Agree. GCS and AFL would have known. This saga may give insight into why McKenna was sacked and why a high-profile contender didn't get the gig. This week Mckenna and Ablett have said: they had no idea!! What the hell were they and their Player Welfare staff doing? Head in the sand! The AFL dropped the ball! They have fessed up to being so busy with the Ess saga to notice the Lions were imploding. Looks like they didn't act to stop the Suns imploding. Can the GCS recover? Possibly not. Maybe they then merge Lions and Suns? $100m down the drain!! Wasted top draft picks and the codes more talented players. Sour taste for us and other teams stuck at the bottom of the ladder!2 points

I don't see it that way at all. This guy (& how many others) has been racking up for over 28 months. Having a lovely time. Who is running the fkn club? 3 Strike Drug policy. Good one AFL Vlad fled just at the right time didn't he. Set up this total sham and then disappear How many $ Millions have we shovelled up north just so the AFL can have a huge TV monopoly whilst most Victorian club are on a drip feed ($ 91 million combined debt??) Most of them were forced to move to a privately owned stadium that is killing them slowly. Meanwhile up north it's party time at the Soulless Francaise. Nothing lasts on the Gold Coast The whole place should be shut down. Remember that photo is dated March 2013 It is now July 20152 points

Apparently 12 GCS players were named by Hunt. The HS have 'coincidentally' found 'incriminating', 2 yr old photos in their archives of one player. Thereby implicating the player as one of the 12. This is a very shallow and transparent way of getting around the AFL request for player confidentiality. They have set this young man up to be pilloried, humiliated and to be the fall guy. I wounder what else the HS have in their archives on AFL players and why they chose Harley for special exposure? Yes, he is talented, controversial and one of their best known players so makes good headlines. But the cynic in me wonders whether they would do this if he was not an indigenous player. Harley deserves the same protection as other players. Shame on the HS for 'exposing' him or any player. I hope my cynicism is misplaced but I wonder about the HS agenda.2 points

Don't agree CBDees this will end in tears. The MFC have finally got a good culture developing I do not want that risked by an idiot. Leopards and spots is my view. Chase someone who is unhappy being at the GCS not a drug head.2 points

There's over 800 players in the AFL. Some are on a million per season, some are on 50k. They players already demand more from each other by submitting themselves to a whole bunch of illicit drug testing. Yes they have 3 strikes and yes they keep the results under wrap but they are doing more than pretty much any other athlete. Yet alone politicians, lawyers, doctors and so on. Rockstars, movie stars and pretty much any other celebrity besides sports stars are almost celebrated for their poor behaviour. Yet sports stars have to be saints? Why?2 points

Drug taking culture in Australia is a national shame as is our domestic violence culture, as is our gambling culture, as is our booze culture......now we export the best parts of our culture to places like Bali and Phuket. Demand for illicit drugs in Australia per head of capita is number one in the western world .....wow what a proud achievement that is NOT! Meanwhile, those of us who actually pay taxes carry the burden of looking after irresponsible tools who get into trouble and use the health system because the want to be part of the drug culture.2 points
